All Eyes on Paris with Italian legend Paulo Nicolai

My next guest is the Italian work horse and legend Paulo Nicolai.
His coveted Olympic Silver Medal sits beside some equally impressive statistics.
He’s a 3 x European Champion and a 2 x U21 World Champion.
Paulo competed in 3 previous Olympics. A 5th place in 2012, Silver in 2016 and another 5th in 2020 with his long time beach partner, Daniele Lupo.
Paris in 2024 will be his 4th Games, where he will turn 36 just before the finals.
He started his career winning medals at a junior level. His first - a Silver medal at the U19 World Championships in 2006 and then he followed that up with 2 x Gold 2006 and 2007 when he won the FIVB U21 WCs.
He was voted the FIVB Most Improved Player in 2012, best attacker in 2014 and best blocker in 2016 and he’s still getting better!
Over 18 years, he has played 149 events on the FIVB tour, winning 6 Gold, 13 Silver, 13 Bronze medals. He most recently finished 5th in the Ostrava Elite 16 where he and Samuele Cottafava officially qualified for the Paris Olympic Games.
The 6’8” blocker was born in Ortona, Italy… Wife Sara and two beautiful children complete his family life and he is still very much in the prime of his beach volleyball career.
