One thing to mention about Curse of the Master is that it has an EXTREMELY overpowered bug. If you walk out of a room and walk back in with good Style points, it will upgrade the pickups again. Meaning that you can always get golden bombs and keys, black hearts, dimes, etc.

This sort of reminds me of a concept I saw somewhere on the workshop called "Curse of the Self". When you get the cusrse it has 17 random forms it can take each based off the TBOI characters. The only ones the guy who made the mod got around to making were these. I think he's deleted the item because I can't find it anywhere anymore Curse of the Broken (Every pedestal swaps between two items. Only four new items can be picked up before previous items you picked up on that floor are replaced by new items) Curse of the Dauntless (Characters have a high chance to drop temporary hearts on kill, every heart spawned with this curse disappears after a short time) Curse of the Savage (Floor is XL, all damage taken is a full heart. All enemies that can become champion, will become champion. You get higher damage and tears) Curse of the Miser (Characters have a high chance to drop temporary coins on kill, every coin spawned with this curse disappears after a short time. Every item on this floor has to be bought)

I remember seeing this mod on the workshop when it first released. It was a very interesting idea, but it looks like it didn't get any traction. I searched around some isaac discord servers and didn't find a single mention of it.

Curse of the Imp feels more like a blessing than a curse Sure, you miss out on some health, but at the same time, little invincible familiars that help you out for 3 hostile rooms ain't exactly terrible either Also kinda weird that, with the downgrades from Curse of the Master, Golden Batteries apparently don't get downgraded Likewise weird that nickels become double pennies, but that's because I'm used to the downgrade system of a similar kind of curse from another mod, being Curse of Famine from the Cursed Collection, which has a chance to downgrade pickups, and nickels get downgraded to sticky nickels Further on Cursed Collection, it has a funny effect where if you get any of the items it adds that force curses upon you, it _actually kills_ your Black Candle if you have one, giving it a little tombstone and everything

Curses are such an awful mechanic in vanilla Isaac, a majority of them only hide information from the player which doesn't actually have any gameplay effect. (i.e. curse of the lost doesn't actually do anything since you can just remember the map, unknown can just count your hp, etc, other than blind they only add tedium) However all of these are so good and dynamic like curse of the labyrinth I wish instead of just being locked behind an item, they just replaced the vanilla curses in the mod.

@@staryoshi06 of course, but some implement this well (blind, maze, darkness) but others (unknown, lost) don't actually effect the gameplay at all in reality as all they do is force you to write stuff down, no actual new choices get encouraged, it's purely tedious.

It does nothing on its own, it only has an effect with certain items such as the black feather trinket, which gives you a damage up for each evil item you have. Aside from that, I don't remember ever seeing anything that it has an effect on.

My opinion on the curses: Ghost: Might just be punishing you for being hurt... whoops. Imp: That just hurts you in the long run. You know, if you bleed over time? Master: I guess that's alright? I mean, it is unique - but not totally the greatest if it comes to a case of "oops you got hit, now I punish you." Scythe: Punishing in general, to be fair. If you get to the effect... say goodbye to your run if you aren't good at dodging. Stone: What do I say...? Drop your items? Sun: Well, that's rude. A small bonus just lost because you can't avoid things? Swine: I mean... I guess you're Tainted keeper now?
