All Furby Models Common Glitch and Bug Fixes

A request video that I thought would be pretty useful so here it is. In this video I explain the common bugs and glitches in all Furby models and how to fix them. This does not cover internal issues, I am not an electrician, but if you have a Furby that's struggling to wake up, motors and gears don't move how you expect or any other motion or LED related issue, these fixes should solve it. I get asked about many of these issues a lot so here is a video of the fixes for them all in one place!

The 2012/Booms are known for having their motors fail. When this happens they wake up, don’t move, then shut off unexpectedly shortly after. It can be fixed you just need to solder in a new motor. There’s generic ones that fit and motors from some old cd rom drives can be used. It’s not a project for the feint of heart but it’s totally doable if you know the basics of a soldering iron. I managed so save my boom with a new motor and while I was in there I removed the tilt sensor because it always thought it was upside down.

That´s the exact issue I´m having rn with my second furby boom! Found the little fella at my local second hand without a battery cover, put some batteries in him and he works fine for the most part, but won´t move at all and will "die" within a minute. Kinda figured it was a motor problem as any and all resets won´t work, but do you know if there is anything I can try with the motor before completely replacing it just in case?

Hi, me and my friend just completely fell in love with Furbies as a very new thing, and bought 3 used ones. Unfortunately only one is functioning properly, two have a motor failure (shut down under a minute, ears dont move, does not move otherwise either but talks though. We really would like to fix them, I am eager to try to do a motor change, but could you please tell me more about these alternative motors, like are all the motors from old cd rom drives exactly the same, and how old are we talking about? do you have an example please on one that you know would function? I think finding a donor Furby could be difficult (and also sad ...) but this alternative motor fix I would like to know everything about please.

Curious for the Furby Boom, which generation (2012 generation 1, 2 or 2013 generation) has less of problems or are they all equal in regards to getting motor problems? I tried getting a 2013 Furby boom and it made clicking sounds and didn't move then went to sleep immediately so it was no good except for parts. Thanks.

The video is really helpful!!!! 😊🙏 But one important thing I want to complete is : The speakers on the 90s Furbys or the chips also make problems. Some Furbys have defect speaker or speak chips right out of the box but usually when the batteries are low they start to stop speaking ( start screeching) or other things like that. And at this point always remember to change the batteries before skinning your Furby ! 😂

The high pitched noise from furbacca is how they communicate. 2012 furbies and furby booms do it too.

Yeah but mine has a gear fault too, it's a different sound than the high pitched communication sound and sometimes it freezes.

That 90,s furby still looks really nice! Another issues on the 90s furby is the motor gets loud, the furby can’t wake up due to the tilt censors being messed up and the speakers can get quiet if they used to use it a whole bunch, and finally, if they have a rubber reset button, it can break and you will always have a problem turning the furby on, for the most part, me and furby queen/virtual zoo found out that the factory that makes the firbys that glitch and get quiet speaker ect are making ones made from a factory called (RL) and on the 2005 furbys if you have one that have squares on the feet have a porley designed tickle button and my furby broke the day after I got it because I held down the tummy and it snapped. Ug

It seems the 90s Furbys have a lot more glitches and such than the others. I think it's because so many were made and they went on for several years as well. I bought one off ebay once but its speaker was loud and crackly even with fresh batteries. I sent it back.

Clowny Mine did the exact same thing one day for no reason at night. XD He wasn’t acting correctly either, his feed sensor in his beak is broken and doesn’t respond correctly. Actually for the beaks for the 2005 furbies you can fix em with surgu or like some good liquid latex and spread it on the damaged part and paint it

You forgot to mention that really scary glitch that tend to happen with the 1998 ones when they are low on power the glitch I am referring to is the one where they just become frozen and unresponsive and starts to hold the last syllable of whatever they were saying that is also the glitch that I referred to as being ffs I wonder if you can remember what these three letters stand for? Anyways the 1998 ones are 22 years old not 25 in case you were wondering but other than that you got all of the generations correct but the mysterious three are from 1999 and 2000 respectively anyways what are you looking forward to most this holiday? From experience fixing the msa glitch is way easier, you just dust off the main sensors including the bottom. It works every time for me!

This is helpful because when I got my 90s furby it didn't turn one right away but before I got it I watched this i shook it and it turned on. thanks again . Edit so my furby went mute all of the sudden I was trying to fix it then I hit its speaker then It turned i was really scared though because my dad doesn't want me to break it

It sounds like an internal issue, sadly I'm not good with fixing electronics but it's possible the solder has come away that connects the speaker to the main unit.

Factory reset. Since it is a 2012 one, flipping it over, holding it's tounge, and pulling its tail should reset it. This will wipe its memory, though, so if you value that then don't do this. It will turn into the personality it came with fresh from the box, which is more than likely not the evil/grumpy one. There is a chance, though. Because it's memory would be gone, there shouldn't be any issue with it changing immediately.

So, this is gonna be a interesting story for everyone, my Easter Furby Boom is being weird with the movement and her right ear is broken and doesn’t move, when I first got her she didn’t move at all, but when I turn her upside down she suddenly starts moving again? I’m busy keeping a eye on her right now while watching the video of course. She has fresh batteries, and she’s brand new. The seller said her ear is broken but she works great other then the movement sometimes. She’s from EBay. Lol. 🤨🤨 XD

You could try resetting her, I think the button is under the battery cover. She may have gotten damaged in transit or the seller may not be legit.

Hello Silvolf, today I found my 2005 furby in my old house, he stayed 15 years in a box I put batteries in and he works but he doesn’t move his ears and his eyes, Is there something I can do to fix it ?

They may have locked up with age, sadly I'm not sure how to fix it

Like Silvolf said, it is probably the motors locking up. I can't give comprehensive explanations about how to get them working, but you can find tutorials on KZbin. I think there is even a WikiHow about it.

There is also a quite common glitch/bug in furby booms and sometimes 2012 furbys where they just freeze while you are playing with them. It happened to my furby boom twice. So, it randomly freezes and its LCD eyes won't also move. It doesn't talk, doesn't react to anything, it's just frozen. It gets fixed by itself after around a minute and gets back to normal.

Could it have anything to do with the battery connection? Make sure there isn't any corrosion around the contacts. That would be the first thing to recommend. If not, a contact on the board could have worn away or any other number of issues.

You could try a hard reset, if that doesn't work then it's likely to be an internal issue. Sadly I know nothing about electronics. Most issues can usually be fixed with a reset.

If you fully restart a 90s Furby, they give themselves a new name and personality - your one appears to be called U-Tye, which means “Up” - if you have one whose name is Nah-Bah, you have two Furbys called Up and Down - if you restart U-Tye, you could end up with one with a different name and even voice! If you leave the 90s Furby alone, he does eventually go to sleep - does what he did in the video!

Okay.. So... I just have got a new problem with a furby boom that I have got yesterday. So, I turned it on today and.. When it was snoring, it was in the normal position when the Furby is awake. When it woke up, it was in the sleep pose. It seems to be out of sync. I refreshed it many times, replaced the batteries. Nothing works sadly. I can't find a person who could help me so, I hope someone here can answer me and help me to fix that. I don't know why the refresh button isn't working. Kind of sad.

I probably won’t be getting a connect for another two months and my voodoo Furby has a bad reset button and that’s why he’s dead so I just had to get rid of him.. And my Furbacca will turn on but he won’t move at all just his eyes will work and he’ll make sounds but he won’t move and I’ve tried hard resetting him and resetting him normally but nothing seems to work.. Hello, could you please maybe help me? My Furby Connects wont turn on, I replaced the batteries, tried a reset and hard reset. There were in storage, and the batteries leaked. I took out the battery parts and scraped the stuff off, and put the battery parts back in, but they still won't turn on. Do you know what the issue may be?

Unfortunately the battery contacts may need replacing or worse, the corrosion may have gotten into the inner mechanics. It would likely involve a skinning and internal fix. You can buy replacement battery contacts and there are tutorial videos here on KZbin showing how to replace them, that may be a starting point if nothing else works to start the Furbys otherwise.

Hey ... I don't want to overdo it but I have a question about Furby Connect because I know you have it and you know each other ^^ Recently, I replaced my furby Connect batteries because it was glitching (just him voice) , I replaced them, and the problem started here, From that moment it started to turn off after a few minutes (1-4 minutes), no matter what I did, he did still. Change it with other batteries or What? Batteries are AeroCell (Sorry for using Translator google but im not from here)

I'm not familiar with AeroCell batteries but I do know that if the batteries aren't high enough powered, they won't be strong enough to power Furby. You need extra powerful batteries like Duracell or the equivalent.

Hello Silvolf i have an EXTREAM problem with my Furby boom,heres whats going on:it turns on but dose all its Animations at once with its Body, its eyes stay the same Normal condition it was when i pulled it out of the box! eccpet for one problem thats bigger than normal....Heres it all Sumorized for yall :Furby boom : *Turns on* *turns back off after one min* Me: *refreshes the furby* Furby boom: *Now only works for 10 mins at MAX* Me: *visible sadness*

Have you tried a hard reset? Or is that what you did when you refreshed it?

My furby started making noises similar to a mix of old computer noises and a buzz and it stopped when I unscrewed the battery pack and took out the batteries and put them back in! I left him on my floor for two days!? Just two days then he glitched like that….

Fresh batteries? Maybe try the same procedure as what Silvolf said about the 1998 ones? I don't know what could be causing that besides batteries. Maybe it can't sense what it needs to in order to decide to wake up? Idk about all Furbys, but mine needs to be moved a lot in order to wake up, then I have to speak/touch it to keep it awake.

Comments are turned off so I will reply here. Try resetting the Furby. Turn it upside down and there is a tiny button underneath, press it with something small like a pen and it should fix the issue.

@@furbyfarm9878 hey, that could just be the speaker. It tends to happen a lot, actually. Does it still make mouth movements when it should be talking? I think mute Furbys are nice, but you can't find fixes on KZbin. Just search "mute furby fix."
