Hey Austin, as a colorblind person myself I just want to say thank you so much for this video. Thank you for reaching out to the community without ridiculing them. I cannot overstate how appreciative I am for the work you do. Thank you so much.

Not trying to sound offense, but as a blind person, what is the purpose/enjoyment looking for different colored Pokémon for you? Some people have different cones in their eyes affected so idk if you only see a certain spectrum or completely black and white, but why do you specifically want to look for and find shiny Pokémon with your condition?
@jedimastersnake2 жыл бұрын
@@NoonMightthat is a very good question haha. And don’t worry, you didn’t offend me at all. I think I tend to pick out shinies of Pokémon whose design I already like. then, I like the shinies because they are noticeably different. For example, I like Dragapult’s design and the shiny incorporates my favorite color, yellow, in a bright, noticeable way, at least for me. This combined with the enjoyment I get just from searching for a shiny is just a lot of fun (plus the rarity). I won’t ever really go for a shiny that I can’t tell the difference or a shiny I don’t like. Maushold, for example, is a design I very much like and it’s a Pokémon I may even use competitively, but it’s shiny is basically unchanged so I don’t plan on shiny hunting it like ever.

So true! Though I’m not color blind, even I have a difficult time to notice that the critter that I caught is a shiny. Especially with the new pokemon as most of them are barely any different than the original one. I really dislike what they did with the shinies this generation. It’s like how they took what they did with Gastly and it’s evolutions and did just that with most of the new pokemon. And I hope that the no shiny chime and sparkle thing in the field before battle thing is a mistake or oversight because in my first half hour of playing that game, I found my first shiny without knowing that it’s a shiny. Glad that I caught it instead of mowing down the pokemon that I already have. Even though i am not colorblind or have any problems in that way, i really love how Austin just puts a Video about it, it really helps and is awesome even if you dont have any handicaps what so ever, keep up the amazaing work Edit:This video helps evenmore if we counter in the Fact that there are 1000 mons now, and with shinys like pikachu where is nearly no difference it helps imens

The easiest way to tell if a Future form Paradox Pokémon is shiny, is how metallic it is. The difference is that most of their prominent colours are changed to match the surrounding metal colour, so if it's almost entirely the same silver metallic colour, it's shiny. The only outliers are Iron Moth and Iron Hands who keep their prominent orange and yellow colours respectively, so are a bit harder to notice.

I like how you choose Paldean Tauros as the thumbnail, I've seen a LOT of people having trouble seeing the black and grey switched places, since the shade GF used didn't make it easy to spot.......

Definitely a well needed video since Shiny Pokémon don’t sparkle upon finding on and that they’re sizing are more accurate which makes it easier to miss one

Thank you so much for going so far into this topic. I am colorblind and I've been worried about finding shinies in these games. Funnely enough I found my first true random shiny ever during the Area Zero story. I saw a Lokix that was green and got very excited. Caught it in a Premier Ball

I miss the chime that Legends Arceus used. I have some issues with visual processing so if the shiny isn’t super obvious I won’t notice.

I’m sure they removed the sparkle and noise as a balance to the overworld shiny. I know Nintendo is BERY well know for not being very good with accommodations at all, but when I heard about the no sparkle, as a terribly color blind person, I was INCREDIBLY disappointed. But when I got the notification that this video got posted I couldn’t believe it. Usually everyone brushes off the difficulty, but you helped so much and cared. I’ve been through this video multiple times and even the explaining has helped me to find 17 shinies that otherwise I would have walked past. So thank you so, so much.

This is such a great tool for accessibility. It's a shame that GF hasn't kept up with modern accessibility trends in the same way that they've been working on trying to make the gameplay more streamlined. Thank you, I'm sure that many many people will find this video very helpful.

Trick for Tatsugiri! When they do their whole sushi disguise thing, the shrimp one (curly form) curls its tail into the air while the others just sort of flop. This carries over to the shinies. So if an orange tatsugiri doesn’t curl its tail up when it idles, you have a shiny on your hands!
@Katie-hb8iq2 жыл бұрын
When you find a shiny in the overworld, there should be a massive sound and sparkles should be emanating from it every few seconds just so people can notice it regardless of hearing or seeing ability. Some of these are just far too close imo.
@basillah76502 жыл бұрын
Sound effect not needed if they just used the light effect they used for tera pokemon for shinies could see them far away before sound effect would happen then.

I have normal vision. I watched this an hour ago. Just turned on my game, found a pack of Tauros, wouldn't have blinked an eyelid normally. But I remembered what Austin said about the reflection of the body and had a gut feeling. Encountered one, lo and behold, it was a freakin' shiny! Genuinely jumped out of my seat.

Wanted to thank you for this one! I just caught a shiny Tauros specifically because I remembered you talking about the texture/lighting differences and was like "hang on, this one looks weird compared to the others in this group" and I was right!

I found a random shiny mankey yesterday. The color difference is not as noticeable in the overworld as it is in the pokedex. I almost didn't encounter it because I thought the shadow from the cliff next to me was just making it slightly darker. Though, maybe it would stand out in a group of normal mankey. Awesome video; I thought I should just share my experience.

Austin, thanks so much for all of the videos you've put out for SV. Because of your advice for doing isolated encounter shiny hunts, I was able to get both Fidough and Dachsbun, my two favorite gen 9 Pokemon, without needing to do a mass outbreak, and your videos on raids helped me build some great Pokemon to help me gather that Herba Mystica in the first place. I was never super big on how time-consuming shiny hunting could be in previous gens, but isolated encounter hunts are really fun. Keep up the good work, and thank you for being so considerate to everyone in the community.

I'm not colourblind, but I really appreciate the Tauros and Gholdengo talk-throughs. I didn't even notice the differences between the shiny and non-shiny forms of Gholdengo, and I've seen that picture a couple of times on the web. As for Tauros, seeing them side-by-side makes it slightly more obvious, but I'm probably still going to miss them lmao
@RabblesTheBinx Жыл бұрын
Believe it or not, it's usually not that hard to tell Tauros, mostly because it's often in a group of 5, so it stands out that its colors are reversed.
@captainwolfos Жыл бұрын
@@RabblesTheBinx Honestly, that's pretty much how I've gotten most of my shinies in this game so far. A group of Pokemon spawn, I see something marginally different as I ride past, and go "...wait a minute". I've yet to see a shiny Tauros in game so far, but yeah, I'm kind of banking on this also being the case lmao

Flittle was super frustrating but my best tip is too not have your camera zoomed out and look at an angle that you can see under it, in the desert it’s pretty hard but it only took me about 30 min in a mass outbreak

I came across a Shiny Wattrel in an outbreak and the only reason I was able to catch it was because my pokemon refused to attack it 5 times in a row .... The red used to highlight the target you send your Pokemon after tints all the regular ones in almost the exact same colour as the Shiny. Especially at night time.

As a colorblind homie, I appreciate the recognition! Speaking generally here, we all typically learn coping mechanisms growing up without trying or even realizing something is wrong with our vision. Because of that, I don’t think it has as much a presence as a stigmatism in popular discourse until something like this brings it to the forefront. Anyway, all that’s to say: Thanks for caring about an easily ignorable minority of your viewers, Austin! Just another example of you showing that you care more about helping people enjoy the games you cover, and not just having the tutorials with the highest view counts.
