Your comment about not hiding in your marked unit, reminds me of what I told my son. A visible marked unit is to deter crime and an unmarked is to catch a law breaker.

Chief never in our history has quality leadership in law enforcement been so critical. I can tell even having never met you, that you represent that standard. I hope by the title you are not leaving the agency unless a larger law enforcement organization has made an offer. The profession is too deeply ingrained into you to not stay in the saddle for a bit longer since you bring creditability to the badge and your troops. You set a standard of ethics, professional dedication and what I term DUTY, HONOR AND COMMITMENT to your officers, guess we will know Saturday.

Good morning HR, I wanted to say that I've enjoyed your videos for a couple of years now. My PawPaw was in the air force, my dad in the Navy, and a baby brother in the Marines. After my dad got out of the Navy, he started playing lead guitar, so I grew up playing bass guitar, long haired party animal, somewhat on " both sides of the fence ", as pawpaw was a preacher. In my 30s, I felt the desire to do something important, worthwhile, and I tried to enlist in every branch of service, tried to join the local police force, but alas, nobody wants a 30+ year old construction worker. Here in my 40s, I still feel the call to something greater, and I respect our local police, I would do anything to help, I thank all of our service men and women, and somewhat envy those who give themselves to a greater cause. And thank you HR Funk. (And yes, you do resemble Buzz Lightyear, Space Ranger just a little!)

Good morning HR. Looks like a nice little town where you live in work. This video is a very nice tribute to all our LE personnel out there. Your career and my father's is very similar. He started as an Army MP in the 60's, during Vietnam. He was fortunate to be stationed in San Francisco and didn't go to Vietnam, but was ready to do so. He got out of the Army in the late 60's and joined the SFPD. Was there for a couple of years before leaving for a small town PD (Granger WA pop 1800 per 1980 census) in the early 70s. In 80 he became the Chief and held that position for about 5 years before leaving to open his own business, in the then booming video cassette rental industry. (He rented VHS, Beta and laser disc movies LOL) He returned to GPD in 89 as a patrol officer and retired in 93. He passed in 2013. This video reminds me of him. Best of luck in your new endeavor.

Great video Sir! I want to say thank you for giving us a little insight into a few of the things that the Chief does on a nice quiet day in your beautiful community. I have to say that I wish all police officers were as easy going/straightforward and have the type of moral Code that you live your life by. Throughout my life, I have lived in many different places. I actually grew up in a small community similar to yours. However, our local chief of police was very crooked and ended up stealing property from local families and got involved in quite a bit of corrupt dealings in his career and unfortunately ended up taking his own life too avoid a lengthy prison sentence. I have always had a lot of respect for all law enforcement and it is so refreshing to see that there are still some amazing police officers out there who deserve our love and respect. I always pray for the safety of our law enforcement, firefighters, military, healthcare workers Etc. If my career hadn't gone the way it did I saw myself working with the FBI as a supervisory special agent. Who knew that the whole serial killer thing would be pretty much played out by now...🤷♂️ My mom majored in criminal justice and I read pretty much all of the books in her curriculum. Anyway I digress... Thank you for being such a Great Man and for serving our Country as a Marine and as a law enforcement officer for well over 30 years. I Salute you Sir! ML&R! (Much Love and Respect) 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲 P.S. I honestly wish that my grandfather was still alive today so I could have you meet him you remind me of him a lot and I guess that's probably one of the reasons why I watch your Channel more than most I guess.

Chief, I've been a viewer of your videos for a long time as a disabled resident of Pennsylvania I'd like to say thank you for what you served for not only as a Marine but as an officer of the law as well. I and my wife wish you best of luck in your new job and may God continue to ride with you, Sir. I also would to add that I love your videos on WWII weapons, my father who passed away last September was a WWII Veteran in the Army and was a Master Sergeant. Best wishes, Sir.

Thanks to you and your wife Travis! As luck would have it, the video coming up this Saturday will feature a WWII rifle.

Thank you for your years of service. You always present yourself in an honorable way. I especially admired your video where you swore your oath of office and explained what it meant to you. I could not agree more. I enjoy your channel and hope you keep up with the videos.

Thanks Tod. I should have more time for videos after I start my new job.

Outstanding Brother HR, and thank you for sharing this, I wish I had taken the time to video a day in my life as you did here. Not sure I could or would have left the position that you were in until I had no other choice. As it surly looks like the ideal career job placement at a wonderful pace to enjoy. Of course we both know that was not the case all the time. I also wish I still had all the photos I had taken from back in the day to present. Lots of great memories. I really enjoyed this and your range time. Well done!

Thanks John! As you might have guessed, the various personnel issues tended to wear me down. There are many things I miss about being Chief. Personnel problems are not among them.

I thank you for your service to our country and your local community and wish you all the best in your new position. Funny that my day as a plumbing designer starts out at the same time as your day but with not nearly anything as interesting as your day. Thank you for all the videos that you produce in your "spare" time, I appreciate the content and information.

Thank you sir for your service and commitment to your community and others. Your dedication is apparent in your persona and attitude showcasing a genuine enjoyment with respect for your law enforcement profession. When I retired seven years ago from 36+ years in primarily electric utility operations and emergency response where we served oftentimes over holidays and in terrible natural and other events, I was glad to have had a chance to provide a service to people that hopefully made their lives a little bit better each day. Thanks for sharing an insight into your profession and success to you in your future ventures. We will all continue to look forward to more of your fine videos!

That was very interesting, thanks for that. It is a shame you town is loosing such a great officer. You are not an officer of my town but I still thank you for your service. I wish you much joy in your new endeavors.

I retired from LE after 29 (civilian) years + 1 military (LE) hitch. Sounds like you've stumbled upon a good gig. But like you, I was fortunate enough to have my dream job. After 2 1/2 years of retirement, I've been offered a small town chief of police position, but I'm "not sure" about that at the moment. On another subject, I don't know what optics you're considering for that pistol, but look at the Holosun 507c. I have the older version, and love it. The EOTech style reticle works awesomely. The new version has a chevron inside of the "doughnut of death" instead of a dot, and the battery tray is accessible without removing the optic. It's always on and properly adjusted to ambient light conditions. Something to think about. Good video. "Thumbs up" from this Kentucky boy. 👍

Thank you! I'm considering a similar optic.

I too am a 21 year veteran LEO in Md. These are not very good times to be one. But thanks for your service brother. Oh, I still waiting to see a flint lock 😆.

Great video thank you. I myself have been retired from law enforcement now for 23 years. I retired from San Bernardino Police Dept. in San Bernardino, CA. I had an 11 year career until I was forced to medical retirement from a very bad vehicle accident which left me permanently disabled. My wife and I love your KZbin channel and the gun videos that you do. Thank you .
