A lot of haters on his armor styles. People aren’t really understanding what they are doing with the new characters. For all the tards out there, they are making the story mode characters playable. So when you think “god warmonger is practically a warden but a bit different” or “Gryphon is like lawbringer” or “kyoshin is like orochi and aramusha combined” that’s because you’re exactly right. And Gryphon has all the faction themes because in his lore he is just Holden cross roaming the lands scavenging gear from his fallen enemies. That’s why you see he had Asian styles and all.

Lore wise he was the lawbringer from the campaign, Apollyon's top general. He left her army to wander, trained with different people and scavenges armor from his defeated foes.

Gryphon does use a bardiche which is an evolution of the battle axe. That gladiotor from the movie was a bald veteran like Holden Cross and he was using axes. Morevoer if the gladiator of the game had had this helmet he wouldn't have been so majestic because it is extremely different from all his other helmets
