I recently started watching this show about a month ago and man, it was amazing. Pretty much for every reason this video has listed. Also, *SPOILER WARNING FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T FINISHED THE SHOW YET* the fact that they ended it with Alex landing in Madagascar to signifying the beginning of the first film, that was the icing on the cake. Especially with "I like to Move It Move It" playing in the end credits afterwards

I was never a big fan of the Madagascar movies, but I can say as an earlier 30 year old I have and probably will never get sick of this show!! From Willy being blamed for everything, Momo just being the man, or Sage and his wicked chill demeanor and especially Carl. I actually put this show on when I hope to be productive or simply want something to laugh too. I know it may seem odd for an adult to be watching something like this so religiously but even you who have "abs like holla bread" or "walk around like a headless chicken," you got to give a try!! Big props to DreamWorks on this one!

Oh my goodness, I'm so glad to find someone else that loves this franchise and All Hail King Julien as much as I do! All Hail King Julien is such a great show, it's one of my favorite shows of all time and my second favorite thing from the Madagascar franchise (my absolute favorite is The Penguins of Madagascar show). I think the thing I love about All Hail King Julien the most is that we really do see King Julien at his best in this show. I like how he doesn't start out being the perfect king and still has a lot to learn about leadership, but at the end, we see a character that is a true leader and has come to embrace and love his kingdom as if they are all his family. King Julien is also so much more brave and confident in this series. As he starts to learn more about leadership from Maurice as well as learning from his various experiences and mistakes, the confidence he starts to develop as a leader is inspiring and it's REAL confidence - it's nothing at all like the arrogance that his character has sometimes when we see him in the other movies and shows from the franchise. I do wish that Julien didn't have such an awful uncle and awful parents, every time I think about how awful his family was, it makes me sad. He truly deserved to have a better family than that. However, I appreciate how close Maurice and Julien are in AHKJ! In Madagascar 3 and TPOM, his relationship with Maurice doesn't seem as strong and that disappoints me, but I'm glad that AHKJ gave Maurice and Julien such an amazing friendship. Maurice as a character on his own is also incredible, I think his character doesn't get enough appreciation. He might not be a scientific genius but he is very smart and kind and I just love how this show gives him an emotional and sensitive side. And Clover is one of my favorite characters from the whole franchise, I love how strong and brave she is! She doesn't let anything scare her and it's actually very inspiring to me. But I also admire how much she truly cares for Julien. And as for Mort, well, Mort is... Let's just say that Mort is not as cute and innocent as he looks, but despite all of that, I really do like his character. You are right that he is such a great comic relief character, but at the same time, they add so many details and development to his character that you don't even think that he's JUST the comic relief. I also love a lot of other characters from this show like Ted, Karl, Timo, and Sage. Even Tammy and Butterfish make me laugh lol. I agree with you that this show is not appreciated enough. It is extremely funny, has amazing characters, and in my opinion, All Hail King Julien is the second best thing that DreamWorks HAS EVER made. Yes, I like All Hail King Julien more than all of the Shrek movies and more than the Kung Fu Panda movies. This is just an amazing show and I actually don't usually watch shows like this - I prefer goofy and lighthearted live action sitcoms over animated action/adventure stuff, but this show (as well as the rest of the Madagascar franchise) was able to become some of my absolute favorite TV shows and movies despite it not being in the genre I usually enjoy. I think the characters (and the comedy) are what made me love this show and franchise so much even though it's more action oriented than I'm used to. King Julien and Skipper are my top two favorite characters from the whole Madagascar franchise. And like I said earlier, All Hail King Julien brought out the best in King Julien. Of course I love Julien's fun and charismatic side, but I also appreciate his character for how he was able to become so much more responsible and for how he was able to take care of his kingdom. The fact that he was willing to sacrifice himself for his kingdom is just incredible. King Julien in this series is a character that I look up to and I wish I could be like. And while there are many reasons to love All Hail King Julien, that right there is my number one reason for loving this show. Anyways, thank you so much for reviewing this and making so much content about the Madagascar franchise and All Hail King Julien! I recommend that you watch The Penguins of Madagascar TV series as well. BUT beware, the show kind of messes up Julien's character. There are a few episodes where he acts more like his All Hail King Julien self, some episodes where he is just kind of there but doesn't do anything that bad, but a lot of the episodes unfortunately portray him as very narcissistic. Some people say his character is portrayed that way because he's supposed to be the anti-hero of that series, but I still say that is no excuse for how they wrote his character in that series. I have some ideas as to how his character could've been better and some theories as to why his character changes so much in TPOM, but I will talk more about that in a reply to this comment if you want to read it. What I will say now is that my main problem with TPOM is how Julien's character was written there, but other than that, it's an extremely good show and the comedy in the show is excellent. You get to see more of the penguins' personalities here than you do in the movie. I also really like seeing the characters' lives at the zoo, I personally think it's more interesting to have them in a city environment and reacting and commentating on humans and their weird behavior lol. Also, because the penguins and the lemurs are some of my favorite characters of all time, I actually LOVE the idea of a show with both groups of characters and while I obviously hate how they wrote Julien's character in the show, TPOM is really the only time in the franchise we get to see the lemurs and penguins interact. Again, I'm sad that the penguins didn't get to meet the Julien that we all got to know through AHKJ. I believe the penguins and lemurs could've been closer as friends, if not for the writers messing up Julien's character. ANYWAYS, thank you so much for making this video! I hope you are happy and healthy and I hope you will have a great week!

Here's one of my ideas on how to improve Julien's character on The Penguins of Madagascar TV series. There is a summary of the show which describes Julien as an "unwelcomed challenge to the penguins' dominance" at the zoo. What if that refers to the fact that the penguins are the main problem solvers at the zoo and then all of a sudden, King Julien comes along. AND rather than making Julien this selfish, narcissistic self proclaimed king that doesn't care too often about anyone but himself - rather than that, what if they decided to actually have Julien be a character that TRULY wants to help others and tries to use his previous legit experience as king to solve the various problems that happen within the zoo? And then, because the penguins and Julien have very different philosophies as to how problems should be solved, THAT could be where the main conflict between the lemurs and the penguins comes from. I think that is a MUCH better way to produce conflict between these two groups of characters than just simply ruining and exaggerating Julien's character. Julien has a very unorthodox way of leadership. Yes, Julien does need Maurice to stop him from implementing some of his extremely wild ideas, but a lot of the time, his unusual style of leadership does prove to work. For example, in first episode of season 5 of All Hail King Julien, Julien actually pretends to be dead in order to bring his people together and stop all of the chaos. Of course it sounds very ridiculous and Maurice certainly didn't like that idea, but you have to admit that it did work and it did solve the problem. In addition to some of his ideas for improving his kingdom being very out of the box, Julien also prefers to do things in a fun way if it is possible to do so. Meanwhile, Skipper (as well as the other penguins) has a more practical and orderly way of leadership. He has years of training and he is very strict about sticking to that. While he does act on instinct when necessary, Skipper seems to have very little tolerance for doing something that is SUPER out of the box. These differences - as well as other differences that they have - should've been the main reason why there is so much conflict between the penguins and the lemurs. Instead of having Julien be so selfish, they should have made Julien want to help and contribute to making the zoo a better place just as much as Skipper wants to, but then Skipper and the other penguins try to stop him - forcing Julien to go against their wishes so he can help out. And maybe sometimes his solutions to help the situation or help another zoo animal backfires and then that could also cause more conflict between the penguins and the lemurs, where the penguins use the times where Julien's ideas don't work as an excuse to say that he has no idea of how to be a leader or solve situations, which would really hurt Julien, because Julien truly does care about being a good leader and helping those around him. (And again, All Hail King Julien proves this is true). This idea gives the show a way to make the conflict between the two groups make sense WITHOUT making Julien the bad guy. And in order to start resolving this conflict, there could be some moments where both Julien and Skipper realize that sometimes, a different approach to doing things is necessary. Throughout the series, the lemurs and the penguins can learn to see each other's point of view and have more respect for each other's unique strengths when it comes to leadership, allowing the two to team up in order to keep the zoo happy and safe. Sorry for writing a literal essay on this, but I really wish this is the direction that the penguins' show would've went in. I know you might be wondering why am I wasting my time with this? If I want to see Julien at his best, I can watch All Hail King Julien and not worry about how his character is portrayed in the penguins' series. I feel so strongly about how his character was written in the penguins' series because I think this idea that I have been talking about had MASSIVE potiental and I truly wanted the penguins to meet and get to know the REAL Julien, not the flanderized version of him.
@allinonechrista2 жыл бұрын
To talk more about why I think Julien acted as selfishly as he did in the penguins' show, while I wish he wasn't portrayed that way, in some ways, Julien being more selfish on the Penguins' show makes a little bit of sense. In AHKJ, he had a real kingdom to look out for, and I think protecting his people was the only way that he was able to stop being so selfish and irresponsible. He started to really care about taking care of his people and he saw them as his family. Being a good king to his people was practically his purpose in life. However, at the zoo, he doesn't have a real kingdom, just a pretend one, and because of that, Julien has nothing greater than himself to care about, so perhaps that's why he starts acting so selfishly on the Penguins' show. I think that that being king was his purpose and without having that purpose and meaning in his life at the zoo, he is lost and he tries to find fulfillment and happiness through being selfish and being self-indulgent, but it obviously doesn't work and it just leaves him disliked by everyone at the zoo. Also, in my opinion, it leaves him even more unhappy, which is why I think he just doubles down on being obnoxious and selfish because he's just so lost and doesn't know what to do with himself now that he isn't king anymore. And I believe the way he behaves because of that in this series also ruins his relationship with Maurice. Speaking of Maurice, in AHKJ, Maurice is much more firm with Julien and will stop Julien when he is doing something wrong. But in the penguins' show, most of the time, Maurice just enables Julien's bad behavior. I think that's another reason why Julien acts the way that he does in that show as it is very clear that he needs Maurice to be his advisor and to stop him from going too far. That's just my theory, but in the Penguins show, they should've either made his character more like his AHKJ self OR actually give Julien a deeper reason for why he acted the way he did during the penguins' series and then actually explain that and DEVELOP his character and eventually have his character continue to improve and become less selfish throughout the show. Even that would've been SOO much better. They could've also just simply focused on Julien's fun and playful side instead of amplifying his worst qualities. I wish that the Penguins show would come back and still have Julien in the show, BUT they need to make Julien act more like his All Hail King Julien self! If they would do that, then I would be SOOOO happy because the way they kind of messed up Julien's character is the only thing stopping The Penguins of Madagascar from being absolutely perfect in my opinion!

I need a Madagascar 4; I am already making one. I am dead serious I have been working on it since December of 2019! I am almost done. My plan is to finish the book, send it to Dreamworks, and get their permission for the movie, the movie is almost finished. I have been taking my time on this movie. The plot is Alex and Gia get married, the gang soon meets the North Wind from Penguins of Madagascar, and they finish their final circus performance of the year 2027 or later in Toronto; before their vacation, until Gia is pregnant during the trip, they run into Dave the octopus from Penguins of Madagascar and another villain named Pulsestrike who is a very deadly python, who has a back story to Alex's family. The animals have to fight in Madagascar after their vacation is over. Alex and Gia have their cubs and all of the circus animals, and the North Wind resides in Madagascar. The circus continues traveling while still residing in Madagascar and the North Wind stays in Madagascar but uses a portal to travel back and forth to different parts of the world for spy missions, which is Kowalski's new invention. The whole circus and North Wind meet the characters from All Hail King Julien and King Julien regains the throne after Clover and Sage step down from their positions as king and queen of Madagascar. There might be a show at the end of the movie focusing on the characters' new lives in Madagascar but will focus on Alex and Gia's cubs. This is my idea for the plot of my title Madagascar 4: A Vengeful Caribbean Vacation. I want it to be released in the summer between maybe 2028 to 2034. There will be a show after the movie, that focuses on all of the characters new lives in Madagascar. I will introduce all of the All Hail King Julien characters in the movie which would be extremely epic. Clover and Sage would have important roles as well as the other characters toward the climax and the end of the movie. Looking over my script has made me laugh out loud with my jokes and some adult humor. King Julien has a very bold, extremely funny, sarcastic, same character as in the past and Mort will have the same vibes as in AHKJ, making it very funny. Alex has two brothers and a sister, one older brother, one younger brother, and one younger sister, making him the second born. As does the screen does focus on more of relationships and love, there are very funny moments and impactful ones. The story does focus on more Alex and Gia but trust me it's not a lot. I have some of the characters having a new design, for example, Alex, his brothers, Vitaly, and Classified, and some of the new characters will have six or eight-pack abs, pecs, and a muscular style, showing how much time has gone on. THIS IS MY IDEA!!!!!!!!

It’s so nonchalant yet funny at times and when it takes things seriously, it takes things seriously (while still holding the humor up). The A and B plot are not too far apart from each other so I can’t really talk about it but the thing that makes the plot organization mostly good is the fact that the main plot is GOOD. Overall I give it a 9.5/10 because I never rate anything a full 10 so consider it an unnaturally high rating from me

I’ve probably watched the full thing like 8 times. I just find that the scenes hit way harder than anything else to me. Normally you only get the feeling it gives the whole show in something like a fight scene.

The first time I watched it was January of this year, and it became one of my favorite shows. When I found out last week that they're taking it off Netflix, it was a real gut punch.

I have very sad news all hail King Julien is no longer on Netflix the reason why is because it was removed due to licensing issues with dreamworks MBC universal and Netflix and what is your option about it 😢
@TheAnimationologist Жыл бұрын
That annoys me SO much cause I was planning a 10th rewatch of it for January. I heard news that I'll probs come out on Peacock or smthn. Just annoys me lol

Yes. Definitely. Penguins is good, but AHKJ just outshines it in literally every aspect.

So is All Hail King Julian better than the penguins of madagascar?
@TheAnimationologist Жыл бұрын
Penguins is good, but All Hail King Julien beats it out in pretty much every conceivable way. Writing, Humor, Characters, Acting, Story etc.
@CraigLim-oc3vi Жыл бұрын
@The Animationologist that's what surprised me. I grew up with penguins of madagascar but didn't enjoy it when I saw it again as an adult. I was actually surprised how all hail king julian managed to have serious moments and well utilized adult humor. Can't believe they managed to make Julian as a main character work.
