Abhijit Dasgupta This is the melody used in most hymn books in the USA ( without the added chorus) Please do not expect Tommy Walker to change his arrangement because you like a more traditional rendition of this hymn.

The tune is Coronation. Per Wikipedia: “The best-known tunes used for the hymn are "Coronation" (Oliver Holden, 1793) and "Miles Lane" (William Shrubsole, 1779), with "Diadem" (James Ellor, 1838) the favoured one in Australia, but there are a number of others. "Diadem" is also the most favoured tune sung as a choir number.” Miles Lane is slightly older but Coronation (the tune used for the traditional portion of the hymn in this video’s version) is the more popular tune. By the way, I love this rendition!

Proper tune? And spirit? It seems to me that "you" are not of the right spirit, which is called a "critical spirit", which has no place with the Spirit of Christ. Please understand that I'm a guitarist and have been playing songs to the Lord for a long time and He gave this gift to bring Him Glory with everything that is in me! I can almost guarantee you that the Holy Spirit had nothing to do with your comments, He was too busy enjoying the song sung with a pure heart!
