Thing is, if people are poking fun at you, including the boss you can pretty much assume your job is safe. It's when everyones angry you've got to worry. Most of the bosses I've had have never really grilled me for the mistakes I've made - they quickly worked out no one could kick me harder than I kick myself.

i used to work with a guy who helped his father haul sand for the state of Virginia. He was on an uphill slope and he took off too fast. Popped a u joint. He was ready for his father to chew him out really good, but his father never said a word. They got in the pick up to go get parts. Later on, his uncle told him that his father popped 2 u joints in one day. All was good.

out where we are, the loggers are required by law to remove everything on the block by a certain date, or they could be subjected to big fines as well as to burn deadfall and blowdowns and scraps nothing is to be left that can be considered wildfire risk or fuel that doesn't mean they always do but it is required nonetheless. And firewood cutters have their own areas that they are allowed to cut in but have to be permitted and not to cut any alive timbers, only dead trees, as well remove any snags as well.

Great job on cleanup. My Godparents built their post and beam home with everything sourced off the property. The builder has draft horses. It was something to watch them work. Selecting each timber for the frame. Also left way less impact on the ground compared to skidder / heavy equipment. The tops fed the outdoor furnace for the first 4yrs. Its like someone plopped a beautiful home in the middle of thousands of acres of healthy forest.

If you're not in the land clearing business, loggers usually give 2 prices, 1for timber pay and 1 for timber and cleanup which gives the landowner less money. Guess what they generally choose? Not griping as it kept us working lol

He could’ve learned to do it himself. He could also clean up himself. You can’t make someone a victim of their own choices. They already beat you to that.

Years ago I worked a similar view only it was on a lake instead of a river…The owner paid x number of dollars a year to have the whole area landscaped…by the time she was done with the plot of land that no one wanted she sold it for more money then was invested plus a tidy profit because of the gorgeous view it provided….

I can tell you what happened. That front wheel dropped off the edge of the pavement and wham! the truck got sucked off the road. Pretty good piece of driving to bring it all to a stop without flopping over on its side. Well done Crash.

Back in the 70s I was on a boat trip on the Mississippi river and loggers in Arkansas cleared a bunch of trees and shoved everthing in the river. You would probably get scolded for doing that here.
