brenna m I cried every time I heard it for...I don’t even know, the first couple hundred times? And the first day I ever heard it I played it on repeat the entire day and cried the entire day. Ironically enough it was just today I think I figured out why this song hits me the way it does, why I cry so hard. “Can you still see the heart of me?” Is the line that hits me the hardest. It’s because I’m not just changing, but I’ve changed. The closest to me, all of them, each separately from the other, betrayed me in the past few years, including each of them stealing a lot of $ and other valuables from me, every sentimental piece, too, and I think especially because. Then on top of that I got Lyme disease. It’s chronic, and it’s literally killing me. It and its many co-infections. My life has been and is being ripped out from under me. Everyone I cared for has hurt me. But I was there for each and every one of them without fail and without question when they were in need. For the first time I’m in the one in need...and I’m alone. And rage, I feel it, for the first time. It’s eating whatever good parts of me that I might still have. Before all this, I was all heart. I saw only the best in everyone and I guess I assumed the feelings were mutual. But once I got sick and wasn’t able to be of use to them, they’re all gone, taking everything of mine they could as they went. And I’m dying. I feel my body dying all around me. Idk when, but I know it’s happening. And there’s nobody around who cares, nobody I’ve spent my life helping, caring for and about, responding in kind. And nobody has ever apparently seen the heart of me.
