I have to say, you're quickly becoming one of my favorite tech KZbinrs! I also love watching Matt Bircher, and I think your channels have a lot in common. While I’ve known about your app Sofa for a while, I only recently discovered your videos. I really enjoy the blend of content you create-whether it's about Sofa’s development, photography, or other tech and software topics, it’s all right up my alley. I’ll definitely be subscribing to Sofa once my TV Forecast subscription ends later this year!

It’s very interesting to see how differently a developer sees WWDC and what the priorities are.

Have you used SwiftUI recently? Performance was pretty rough in its first couple years, but I haven’t noticed anything crazy since. That said, there’s certainly some upper limit of what you’d use SwiftUI for, but I’d be curious to hear more on that point Great vid! I’d love a revamped App Store Connect

Yea I use SwiftUI quite a lot in my app (Sofa), and I'm a big fan. The main problem I have is with scrolling large collections. UICollectionView in UIKit is still much more performant when it comes scrolling lists with a lot of data.

Why not use obsidian , for notes, mind maps, linking of documents etc. also you’re a developer.. so code an app for a lot of things you want. For me IOS on iPad needs localhost support.. meaning i should have a local terminal or allowed to run a docker container on the iPad. I find it rather ridiculous that iPad Pro is over powered but not given much attention to allow developers more control.

I've actually used Obsidian pretty heavily over the past few years, and it's really great. I just love the ease of using Apple Notes and Bear. localhost support on iPadOS would be amazing

There's an entire laundry list of software fixes Apple has to do to Macos. They just never will because of either arrogance or incompetency.

@@shawn.hickman Dock overhaul - it's atrocious in its current state. - Move the icons from the menu bar to dock, like it is on Windows - in fact, remove menu bar entirely, it's a waste of space. - Make the dock span the entire width of the screen. As it is, if you don't set it to autohide and maximize a window it has giant holes where you can see the wallpaper, it's ridiculous how it's still a thing. - The dock also has that very annoying behavior where it doesn't show immediately when you bring the cursor to the bottom of the screen, you have to either wait or drag further down. Should not be a thing. - Dock should show window previews when you hover over an app icon, as Windows does. Saves you a click and is very annoying. Better window management - in its current state it is simply nonexistent. Working in Macos always feels like you scour through an unsorted pile of stuff. Trackpad drivers are very poor, pretty much any Windows laptop, regardless of price, beats it. My issues is that I like to tap, I don't like to press the trackapd, and Apple REALLY wants you to press it. As a result, right click tap works with a huge delay and only half the time unless you do some terminal magic, and tap-dragging simply isn't a thing, you HAVE to press down, which I really don't like. Finder needs to show you the root by default and allow full access to it, as well as all OS files. I want to see my entire drive when I open it. More hotkeys. For everything. Macos relies heavily on mouse usage, this only slows me down. Remove fullscreen virtual desktop and just maximize the app on a maximize button press. The X button should actually close the app, not minimize it, as of now, its behavior is completely random from app to app. Add a proper address bar to Finder as it is in Explorer. It's ridiculous how hard it is to get path names.

@@shawn.hickman And worst of all - all the things I mentioned aren't bugs or oversights. These are conscious design choices, done by absolute imbeciles, so it'll never actually improve.
