I don't need pillars inside if I use ceiling pieces at the base with pillars underneath each piece, which allows me to get to a height of 10 walls high.

Do pvp players care about good looking buildings? A good looking building isn't going to defend you or protect your loot. All of the pvp videos that I've watched were filled with ugly building spam.
