Falling OUT of a diminished 2nd INTO a resolved major was a lovely reversal of a traditional suspension ending.

Wes Arnold . Is that at 2:02?
@ferfymoe2093
@ferfymoe2093 Ай бұрын
@@chaplainmattsanders4884 No sir-that was what's called a Common-Tone Modulation. Starting at 1:57, the melody remains on the 5th scale degree in the original key (B in the key of E), and then at 2:02 the key switches to G major, where the same melody note B is now the 3rd. Edit: that being said, I truthfully can't quite pick out what the original commenter is referring to. The ending of the entire piece is just a pretty standard V->I cadence (a really beautiful and satisfying one, but standard nonetheless), so it's not that.
@chengliklik
@chengliklik 7 күн бұрын
@@ferfymoe2093 I don't see any diminished 2nd there, but if he's talking about the major 2nd (F#), which is the fifth of a V chord, is suspended into the I chord, then resolving downward by step (sung by one of the altos I believe), then yes, it's a classic but beautiful way to end a traditional song like All is Well. (So much ear candy in their version!)

ONLY MUSICAL GROUP THAT HAS EVER MADE ME CRY. I can't with the Soprano, I can't with the bass and I would like to hear the altos individually since I'm one, but like WAO. Dont get me wrong tho, I totaly agree with the comments saying the 1st sopprano is a complete wonderchild and that she probably should be tried for some sort of witchcraft due to those high notes. I just think we should give these pitchy amazing singers a break from their starlight and fame and give a shoutout to these bloody bass singers. *shouting out really loud* *woke parents* *Grounded with no PC for a week*. But can she hit them as consistently and as cleanly as Kate Lott can? The answer is no. That is what makes Voctave impressive--Kate Lott actually routinely hits those notes, and they have become one of Voctave's signature moves.

Absolutely beautiful. Do both Jacob Fullerton and Kurt von Schmittou sing the same bass part?
@calvtenor
@calvtenor 8 жыл бұрын
Sounds like they do for the most part. When Kurt hits the low notes, Jacob is on the 5th above him. Other than that, I think they are on the same part. That's how they get that deep, rich low end!! Soooo nice!!

+Voctave Hey guys, I'm a straight up Voctave fanatic. So glad to hear such a moving combination of beauty, heart, and precision in your music. Hearing it is one thing, but I would imagine singing it is something more altogether moving. One question, at 2:31 it looked as though Jamey Ray seemed to be very emotional. It was very endearing, especially since he is arranging all of these wonderful pieces. It truly must be amazing to hear your work come alive like this. Well done, guys.

Calm down, Jerry. Did you really feel strong enough about my comment that you had to say something in return? Come on, man. My original comment was more of an attempt at humor than an expression of my inability to understand that people might have differing musical tastes. As a trained musician, like yourself, I know very well that people don't have to like something simply because many other people do.
