In this mini-series, I will help everybody who is going to take the JLPT exams by providing a video with the grammar rules together with an example of easy studying/understanding.
Big thanks to my wife and her mother for helping me to make this video. It took a very long time, a little over a month, and on my last day before my paternity leave ends, I was finally able to finish it. This was a massive project, the biggest one so far and seeing how long this one took.

Hello! Thanks so much for the resource. For 29. at about 12:10, what is the hiragana for 故郷? Slightly confused about what is stated on the bottom right and what is pronounced by the speaker.

I'm sorry about that hahah My wife's mother did the pronounciation for the second phrases and the kanji for ふるさと can also be read as こきょう. こきょう has the exact same meaning but is just an older word, nowadays ふるさと is more common and ふるさと is also in the JLPT test if I remember correctly.

Excellent video. Is it possible to repeat nihongo sentence twice and omit saying it in english, since we can read the english sentence and understand it anyway.

This video was made to serve as many people as possible. The reason why I say the English sentences is for the people who also want to just listen to this video, that's why there are delay's between every spoken sentence. Making a one size fits all isn't easy so I took the best middle ground.

It's something I personally struggled a lot with as well, best advice I can give is talk to people or yourself. Even just forcing yourself to think in Japanese could help. I know the advice from "Use Japanese early on" is kind of a common thing to say, but it is the best advice that I could give when trying to get over JLPT N4 level.

Probably a silly question, but what's the best way to utilize this video? I'm thinking trying to memorize and then hopefully hear each point in immersion and reading...but it just always seems like a massive jump that I can't make, if that makes sense. A lot of people who are fluent just say to read, but I struggle memorising vocab unless I know the kanji. I only know 400 so far so that's not a enough to memorize even N5/4 vocabulary.

People all use these videos in their own way. Some people just watch it occasionally to refresh their knowledge. Some people play it in the car on their way to work, or listen to it whilst doing other things, others see it as a learnig resource and watch it whilst making notes, Some people cover their screen watch the title so they know the grammar rule and try to make a correct sentence with it. Some people use this for listening practice, by example they pause after hearing the Japanese sentence and then guess the english meaning (also cover up the screen so they can't cheat. Basically many different ways for many different needs. Most people passively listen to these videos whilst doing house chores.

Hello again! For 65. at about 27:43, in the second example sentence, is there a てafter 勉強し?

You could add て, but the sentence is also grammatically correct without it. When adding て you could extend the first part of the sentence if needed. However in this example removing the て is common as it makes the sentence flow more smoothly. 😉

if you really know all of these grammar rules then you will surely pass the grammar section 😉 The is no official list but this is probably as close as you'll get to a lost of all N3 grammar points.

Use tools like Memrise or Anki. For vocabulary I mainly used Memrise to learn the words and I would put them into Anki afterwards if I knew the words well enough so I wouldn't forget them. You have to repeat them often, so spaced repetition systems are our best option. ;)
