The Ghost of Christmas Present is jolly and happy like Santa, he sees the beauty in everything and represents the Christmas spirit of joy. He finds almost everything amusing even Scrooge. Even when he’s dying the ghost tries to keep his jolly happy mood. That’s why he’s my favorite among the three ghosts because he looks a human, he represents the spirit of Christmas, he shows Scrooge the beauty of Christmas, and he tells Scrooge that he shouldn’t be greedy and ignorant. I also like how the ghost has a shift of character where he goes from jolly and happy to sad and dying.

I am not a geek on the story but the Ghost of Christmas Present is a symbolic character of A Christmas Carol. In contrast to Ebenezer Scrooge the ghost laughing like Joker of Batman shows that he is merry and full of the Christmas spirit, while Scrooge refuses to be merry at Christmas which he told the two charity men earlier in the film. The laughing also foreshadows Scrooge changing his ways into becoming a kinder and generous man. The ghost cleverly uses reverse psychology when he sarcastically tells Scrooge, Tiny Tim is better off dead and 'decrease the surplus population' and again in the book and most film versions except this one he sarcastically asks are there no prisons or workhouses for the disadvantaged when Scrooge asks if there is not refuge for the children 'Igorance and Want' once again using reverse psychology as Scrooge does the exact opposite once he repents by getting Tim well again and avoiding death by giving Bob the money needed for Tim to get the proper medical treatment, which Bob could not afford on his 15 shillings a week, and the implication Scrooge who gave the two charity men a healthy donation managed to improve the lives of many poor people, something Jacob Marley never did when he was alive, which was why he wore chains and was doomed to wonder the world and look on those he could and should had helped. The ghost turning old is a timely reminder life is short and Scrooge who is old himself has very little time to put things right and his 'death' is also a reminder Tim has not long to live as well unless Scrooge does something. The ghost turning cold towards Scrooge especially his sarcasm that Tim is better off dead and mentioning the prisons and workhouses is the spirit mocking Scrooge's mean attitude towards others. And the ghost heavily resembles Jesus Christ with the hair and beard and even wears a wreath, around it's head which Jesus wore when he died on the cross. His appearance not only resembles Jesus but his birthday too as the spirit claims he had 1842 brothers. Each of his 'previous brothers' was actually Christmas day itself. For example if this scene took place in 2001 the spirit would had had 2000 'brothers' and it explains why he 'dies' as the present only takes place in the now in contrast to the past and future.

No. He’s literally the present Christmas. Hence why he has over 1800 siblings. All the Christmasses that has been over the years, that is. Every single one lives for one short while, then dies at midnight on Christmas Day. It’s also why there is so much food. People buy and buy for that one evening even if they can’t afford it. It is a holiday of excess, but also of joy because of said excess. Though also of sadness for it.

Past represent as Memory- he was the light on the one who is lost in their ways and show the memories who they are before and what they become so all memories contain tears and joy. The time he change his face in different faces that's the faces from his joyful and dark past Present represent as Gift and Joy- he was the jolliest of all he love to see people having joy and goodness of heart. Well all because Scrooge doesn't care all about this he recieve his darkside which is the Ignorance and Want and the time of Present is running out and sadly he can only exist once a year after the Christmas his existance will be disperse (however still scares me the time he died at 12midnight) Future represent as Fear Of Death- Like waht Scrooge said he is the Spirit that incharge for the shadows from the past that will not happen but it will happen if one's way didn't change their faith could lead to doom. To be honest Scrooge can have 2nd chance if he didn't kill the light (Past) Ignore the Joy (Present/Ignorance/Want) all because he wasted all his chances the Demise is his Faith (Future)
