7:10 A weird glitch can happen here if you continuously press the Tagout button while Zero is still talking in this cutscene. Axl will be tagged in right before the scene ends and when the battle starts he'll be invisible. If you get hit he will turn into a black shadow and if you are charging his copy bullet then he will blink from green to black. I only managed to pull it off twice but this was in the Legacy Collection version I tried this, not the original PS2 version.

i get that X always had pacifist tendencies, so much he is the only one that had dialogues with bosses (in previous games) where he ordered them to just give up and surrender (kinda funny though considering it sounds like a cop and they were just simple criminals) sure that didnt change anything, but its still a remark of his personality. but this game just took it in a VERY wrong way, it just became stupid. and yeah, the voice acting is terrible and axl sounds like kid/girl. and for a 2003 game of the ps2 the models for the cutscenes are awlful

Possibly the main factor in this game having such... _interesting_ voice acting is that the English voices were done by English VAs living in Japan, which was a common practice in the late 90s. Not so much in 2003 when this game came out, though; perhaps Capcom were being cheap. ...and as others have pointed out in this comment section, Signas has the same voice actor I did in the original PS1 release of Symphony of the Night. Doesn't quite fit him though.

I seriously didn’t like how the game portrayed X’s motives and personality. Writing a pacifist is more difficult than writing a hero who’d easily decide who to kill and spare, and I understand that. Being a pacifist is already a unique trait because then a character is being challenged with different situations against their ideals and people are curious with how they’ll deal with it. X is more than a whiny protagonist and we all know he has bigger reasons as to why he retired and why he didn’t trust Axl in the first place. But in here, he’s seen as someone who complains about violence and is tired of people using it as resolve and that’s it. There’s no reason other than that its against his motives. The game had LOTS of potential of fleshing out his character, but it wasn’t done right. I’m seriously hoping that one day X7 will be rewritten and remastered, because I swear the franchise is being taken for granted by its producers

Imo, the whole thing was kinda screwed from the moment when they rewrote the plot of Zero 1. X was always meant to be a tragic character, not a realized one. But by taking away the endpoint where his opposition to the endless fight causes him to ironically become the opposite of a pacifist, they took away the aim and endgoal of the narrative arc of the entire X-saga. I see that whoever wrote this rubbish having no idea where any of this is supposed to go as a reflection of that. X8 tried to course correct, but then they basically just stopped because there is no real course to correct to. They just made sure they didn't leave it broken and then abandoned it.

After replaying this game, I have to say: Zero is, quite possibly, the most brooding character of any video game franchise I ever played. As always, people laugh it up about the voice acting. The whole cast is terrible, aren't they? Every line is the worst ever recorded. Am I right? No, I'm not. Here's the deal, the script isn't the best, but honestly, the voice acting is NOT as bad as the plethora of ignorant masses I see on literally every, single, video, pertaining, to, X7. "Voice acting is terrible! lel" "Omg, va sux." It's truly annoying, and truly tiresome of seeing it. Axl is a major target because of how "annoying" it is. Yes, it gets a bit whiny, but for fuck sake, that's the point. Axl, at this stage, is adolescent, not yet matured and wise to his actions and the effects they have on the world around him. He's a "kid" versus the veteran, hardened Zero, who's voice fits very well. Most of Axl's deliveries are very animated and inflection-laden. These are good qualities. Zero's is rich and strong, but somewhat stoic and unimpressed. Good traits of a man who's been through as much as he has by that time. X's voice doesn't have much "umph", no, but it is very similar to his successor, Mark Gatha's, who owned that soft, sincere, yet commanding voice of X's. I think all the Maverick's voices are very well suited and delivered, what's wrong with them? Look, I wont write a fucking novel here about why people are blowing the quality of the voice acting in this game entirely out of negative proportion, but good god, people. Glass half full rather than empty.

Not only that, he spent the whole game hearing "We new gen reploids are designed so we can't go maverick" and it came to a head when Lumine hammered it home with the "We possess the power to go maverick at will". That realization that X had probably been in denial about the whole game would leave anyone speechless and questioning things. To top that, the world was in fact changing around the trio and evolution is part of life... but not for the reasons Lumine or even Sigma was preaching. That's why Axl AND Zero stepped in, to remind X that despite the world changing, mavericks hurting innocent people regardless of their reasoning, or if it is by choice or not, is and will always be wrong. Though... that's just how I read it. You can take it however you like. I just wanted to share my thoughts.

@@rockmanbeta8055 That's fair, but it makes no sense for not just the new generation to be the first to be able to go maverick at will, but also for X to not have previously encountered such a situation. The Repliforce alone was used to make a story point about how mavericks aren't just programming malfunctions, but also those who are deemed criminals in general. Maybe I am getting it wrong and Lumine is meant to be untrustworthy, as his speech is just there to attmept screwing with X's mind? I dunno
