I fucking love this episode, it was my favorite for a long time in the show until a bit later in the series. All Might is my fave char and when he pops off it's SO FUCKING GOOD. Even watching it now for the 100th time I get chills and goosebumps in that final rush followed by his Plus Ultraaa!

3:30 that’s one of the things that I find interesting about the differences between Japanese and western superpowered beings. Generally speaking, the west tends to separate speed and strength. There are exceptions absolutely, but that’s generally the rule. Meanwhile in Japan, as a general rule, it doesn’t seem like they see the need to separate speed from strength. I’m not saying ones better or worse than the other, it’s just really interesting and cool the ways different cultures manifest different concepts.

Before I started watching MHA I thought that All Might was this super strong hero that everyone looked up to that would always come in and save the day whenever the students were in danger and it'd be boring because he was just overpowered. But I was hype af when he fought the Nomu. Because we knew he was extremely weak at this point. This show has such amazing characters with flaws that it more than makes up for all the convenient moments in the story.

There is no taking back One for All. The anime over exaggerated Deku’s punch but it’s actually the first time he managed to hold back his power, so he didn’t break his arm. People think it’s because of Nomu’s shock absorption, which would make sense but that moment is Deku’s frame of reference for how to hold back going forward. It wouldn’t work for that if he didn’t actually hold back there.

There's a really incredible fan-made spinoff of MHA on KZbin I bet you'd like. Called UA LA. It's a live action show set in LA with all original characters. (live action anime I know, but they actually nailed everything about it, perfectly capturing the feel of anime and the spirit of the show). Think indie-budget Spider Verse creativity in filmmaking. The action is incredible, and story in their 1 episode is so wholesome.
