Lord have mercy, I remember these days. Angie and Jessie, Darnell Williams and Debbie Morgan! It was a long time before I knew Darnell was from England. This was when the soaps were so good.

Amanda really was a good character. Once she realized that Greg could love only Jenny, she stood up to Enid. Enid was a true snobbish harridan and cared much more about how things appeared versus how her son felt.

Dottie got pregnant by Tad Martin but his then girlfirend Hillary Wilson (Langley Wallingford's) daughter convinced Tad to marry her because she knew what it was like not to have a father growing up. She lost the baby afterwards, but didn't tell Tad because she was scared she'd lose him. However, a Colleague of Joe Martin's who was Dottie's Doctor carelessly left the file and when Joe saw it, he convinced Dottie to tell Tad the truth. When Tad found out, he went ballistic.

AMC was great at portraying the dynamics between parents and offspring. Edna obviously loves Dottie and wants the best for her, but expresses her love clumsily (such as paying Tad the cad to date her).

Eden was one of the worst mothers on All My Children. The others are Erica, Dixie, Arlene, Marian, Pheope, Opal, & Mrs. Santos.

AMC was very diverse, at this time...there were African Americans (Jesse, Angie, Frank and Nancy Grant, Les and Pat Baxter, Vera) and Hispanics (Edna and Dottie). And it still is diverse so that is good to see! :)

Edna and Dottie were White characters although Tasia Valenza was half-Latina in real life.

That can be included but I don't include it...I look at the diversity as in minority representation and, at that time, AMC had a good representation of African Americans and Hispanics...and it is still a diverse soap to this day. But I understand if people wish to include Catholics as part of the diversity argument so that is fine also :)

Kim Delaney and Amanda Bearse were both let go because of bad backstage behavior.

Kim Delaney wanted to pursue other venues. She didn't sign a new contract when it expired in August 1984. The producers were hoping to change her mind. That is why they kept Jenny Gardner Nelson in the hospital for two weeks. They wanted time to change Kim Delaney's mind about leaving.
