Since the Vanguard ETFs missed the June cutoff and paid in early July instead, VIG was the biggest payment I got, both in my brokerage and in my Roth. In the brokerage, MO and JPM were my biggest payments from single stocks and O and AMT were the biggest payments in my REIT-heavy Roth.

On a technicality, July was also my largest month, mostly as a result of $518 from SCHD. For my personal accounting, I kept SCHD and VTI in the June category. It's nice to see the "all-time high dividend month" like this, but if it's tracked as being paid in the next month *one* time, it means all other months will seem tiny in comparison, including the YoY next June. Either way though, great job on the continued growth of the portfolio. It's really coming along and it's any day now you cross that 6 figure mark so we can celebrate!

Congrats on the dividend payment. One of the biggest negative arguments I have heard about focusing on dividend investing is that some of the ETFs that use a covered call strategy are returning capital in addition to dividends for a "bigger" seeming dividend payment. What are your thoughts?

That does happen. I don’t personally invest in covered call ETFs

Just to be clear with your statements..."dividend investing" and "trading options" are not the same thing. You can trade options on shares that pay dividends, but it's two different things. As far as thoughts on covered call funds, they are *mostly* trash, IMO. Selling options with a strict repeated strategy is a *great* way to underperform the market over time, which I don't think is a great decision for a younger investor. It's all personal, but I think WAY too many young investors are aiming for high yield for the sake of high yield, with no intentions of spending the money. If you do go against that logic for whatever personal reason, I recommend finding a fund with a dynamic option strategy and avoid paying ridiculous fees for it. Something like DIVO, JEPI, or JEPQ. There are likely a few lesser known ones, but likely with higher fees. Lastly, I would absolutely avoid any and all of these flavor of the month YieldMax funds that have only really shown success because the underlying assets skyrocketed in an unusually concentrated bull market.

Doing well on the dividends, good to see! Feel like the total profits in the portfolio tracker are off for certain holdings (for example VICI and VOO). The total profits and capital gains are identical even though dividends were received. So unless your dividends received equal costs, something's off? Am I missing something? @@LoboxCazadoRx I would say that you’ll want to look beyond just the dividend yield. While I do own MO, there is some potentially catastrophic risk to the company that you want to be aware of. Cigarette consumption is on a steady decline, and a lot of MO’s revenue comes from cigarettes. As a result, I personally wouldn’t want it to be 25% of my portfolio. With that said though, you have to do what you think is the right move.

There's a lot of risk with all the ymax funds, but i think the Amazon one is a good balance of strong underlying and still high yield. Putting a bit of the dividend into schd for long term safety tho.
