We began in Prague at the end of 2023, with "Pedestal", and we ended in Lisbon, almost in middle March 2024 with "Grito". We pretty have the same taste in some of the National finals, I watched and listened to each song. I totally agree with you with Melfest, but I got some songs to ear from there lol Great video, once more!

It is (unfortunately) not certain whether this is the last time that the NDR will be responsible for the German NF. The broadcaster does not comment on the topic and a podcast from two NDR employees about the Eurovision Song Contest a few days ago sounded as if it would be the same responsible broadcaster next year. In addition, the broadcaster that is most rumored to be taking over next year (MDR) has officially denied the takeover

@@stu_makes_vids If you compare it with his 2022 Sanremo entry (Dove si balla) it's not even close in terms of popularity. That was hugely popular in Italy. I think a lot to do is the message of the song. It's a highly debated topic in Italy so it didn't click with many people because of that

for me, for all national selections and every year, I always divide my review into two (or at most three): 1. song submission method. for this one, I think post-2020 UMK still beats any other Eurovision-related selection show. the way UMK revives and revamps it make each entry have high quality and high production value. 2. show format. for this one, 90% of my favouritism is always for Melodifestivalen, except for the pre-recorded backing vocals (wish all vocals to be absolutely LIVE). 3. voting system. again, Melodifestivalen is still my favourite yet again, but only at most 90%. why? because I don't really like the age-based televoting system. Melodifestivalen's 2011-to-2018 televoting system, which was 100% proportional, is still the best; combining it with professional juries (be they local/national or international), makes the voting even better.

I actually investigated a bit, and the original run of Benidorm fest wasn’t made to be for 4 years, it was meant for 3, i looked through some rtve, national newspapers and Eurovision world articles and that seems to be the case, plus it seems like its gonna be hold for an additional 2 years, since the 2025 edition is pretty much confirmed and they’re looking for a larger venue for 2026 already

Greetings from Finland. Reason Why Finnish people are hesitant to send ballads or more “radio friendly” pop songs to Eurovision can be explained by the fact that we rarely if ever do well with those. Recently only Saara Aalto was able to get anywhere with that kind of song and even then it didn’t do well enough.

Im a big fan of your videos! They are really insightful and interesting. But I have to know if your not speaking of Israel on purpose? I'm a big fan of the Eurovision and I'm from Israel and it's always interesting for me to hear what people think of our songs. I understand why people are avoiding this year (not interested in arguing) but I wanted to know if to expect some opinion from you

Thank you very much! In this video we were just covering song selections. Since HaKokhav HaBa works more like a talent show it's harder to cover and when similar formats exist in other countries (like when Malta was using X-Factor) I also tend to avoid them until we have songs to talk about. With regards to covering Israel, I am not afraid of discussing the controversy around it and I've alluded to it in other videos. As for covering the song, I've decided not to as a matter of principles. I know that may be disappointing but I feel it's the right thing to do.

I would absolutely love for Joel to represent Luxembourg in the future. He has a great voice and I hope LSC does better with the songs in general. (I think he can do way better than the song he had) Personally I'm not as skeptical about how the juries are gonna receive Rim Tim Tagi Dim as a lot of other people are. Maybe that will change once we see the stagings for internal selection songs but whenever I watch the live it just feels like it's meant to be the winner and it will work out somehow.

Croatia won't need Jury support as points will be totally scattered across the board. No entry is going to score massive with juries. It was different last year, we all knew Loreen was going to score a mammoth amount of jury points.

All winners need some jury support. 😉 We haven't yet seen a winner that finished lower than 4th with the juries.

Hi Stuart. My two cents. I have tried to watch most of the NFs. I intend to watch all the entries of the others NFs before may. I'm loving ESC 2024 season. Sanremo is always my favourite, by far. So many artists to follow up every year that half of my current spotify is in italian. It's not so hard to understand the language since I'm brazilian. This year, I was impressed by MGP and PZE. Many songs to my ESC2024 playlist. On the other hand, ESCZ, MESC and Supernova were hard to watch. Most songs look so bland international pop something. I am still listening only Sirena, because the maltese part. Benidorm lineup was great before the show. but live was painful to hear. It's sad that Eurosong was so amateur. All the songs are fine and I loved Go Tobann before the show. FdC was good, but I prefer more energetic songs. However, Grito e Pontos Finais are so beautiful.

For the Icelandic selection what a lot of bollocks. First, what was Bashar doing there anyway? Are you seriously suggesting the Icelandic public are homophobic or racist - 16% of their country are now non-Icelandic and you couldn't see a country less homophobic. No, what happened is that the Icelandic broadcaster went woke and went broke. They thought that the Icelandic public would get behind the rather banal song by Bashar. Second, he seemed to be more interested in talking about Palestine from the confines of Israel and Iceland and thirdly I don't get it - a Gay man who has every right in the world in Israel talking about it occupying Israel when it's actually an occupation by neo-nazi homophobic misogynist thugs pretending that Israel occupied it is both peak woke and peak idiocy. And now, however much I love Hera, they are not going to qualify.
