I sat with my mouth open, flabbergasted a lot of the time, as you were building this ICM kit, Chris. This is the way all model kit companies should tool model parts for assembly. The level of realism has been raised by ICM.

Lost the side mirrors. 😢Now im 58, and during COVID i bought the same kit again after watching your videos. Re build came out much ,much better. It’s sitting in a glass case. I have now built dozens of kits and I’m still enjoying every minute. A huge thank you, Chris for re igniting the passion. ❤ Cheers Chris 🍻 From 🇨🇦 John

My first model was a 1958 Edsel my dad bought me. I was about 7 years old. I did not paint it. About 4 years ago my wife bought me a 1958 Edsel model for Christmas. She knew I always wanted to do that car again but paint it this time. I painted it a 2-tone White over lt green. Hand-painted the dash, textured the carpet, door cards were 3-tone and seats were 2-tone all according to factory specks. I foiled the chrome on the body and door cards and installed plug wires in the engine. I was 67 when I did this. That was 64 years after my dad bought me that first model. I now own a 1937 Plymouth De Luxe 6 and drive it everywhere.

The first model I ever finished was an ambitious project. It was built with some help from my grandfather. It was the AMT 58 Impala kit, the trophy series issue with the blue box from 1964. It got a deep blue metallic paintjob, red crushed velvet interior with swiveling bucket seats from a Ford kit, a 55 Chevy dash board, narrowed rear end to fit the included rubber slicks without cutting the wheel arches, and the most detailed big block I could do at the time. Heater hoses, spark plug wires, fuel lines, you name it I did it all with thread... and the fuel line from the pump to the carburetor was a bent brass carpet nail. It was a fine product of the time. I hevn't gotten around to recreating it. I wish to do it again in the future, but now I have more knowledge on how to do it better. It would be a fun project.

When I was a kid, 1970/1980, my dad had a 1965 fast back mustang. He bought me a model and I tried to make it look just like his. Didn't go so well to say the least. I few months ago I bought another 1965 fast back mustang from modal round up and was able to duplicate it to the exact color and interior. Got a picture if you want to see it.

My first model was the Dodge Little Red Wagon mid engine drag truck when I was about 11 or 12. My dad bought it for me after we watched the real truck race at Detroit Dragway. What an incredible experience! I remember the build didn't go so well. I may have glued the tires on backwards and installed the engine upside down. I'm now over 60 with a lot more modeling experience under my belt. So, I re-purchased the very same model and thought I would would give it another try with hopefully much better results. I've been watching your videos for a while now and have found many of your ideas and tips to be very helpfull.

My Dad had just bought a new Meteor and a few weeks later we were at the Seattle World's Fair and we got it at the AMT exhibit the was manned by Bud "The Kat" Anderson himself!

My first model was a monogram kit my dad bought me of an early ‘30’s Ford pickup truck (hotrod). It was yellow with black fenders and i think a white convertible top. I had watched my brother build a model and I was totally enamored, but he’d scolded me not to touch it. I think my dad recognized my interest and went to our local drug store (in the late 60’s early 70’s drug stores carried model kits and paints) and bought and surprised me with the kit. I remember building it, brush painting it and putting a hundred miles on it rolling it around on the kitchen floor. I’ve never found and rebuilt the kit, but I give my dad 100% credit for introducing me to a hobby I’ve loved my whole life. Dad died a few years ago with dementia but i hope he knew how much I loved him and thanked him for everything he did for me - big and small.

My first model? Jeez. I was 8. It was the 70’s. I believe it was late fifties chevy modified stock drag car. My father helped me. The model was molded in orang plastic. We did NOT paint it. I was thrilled. Played with for about a week till i broke it. Then played with it as a “wreck” for another week or so. I never rebuilt that particular model. But I DID move on to build hundreds of plastic model kits in my life. Cars, planes, trucks, military vehicles, ships. Man it’s been fun.

My first model was the AMT 32 Ford 5 window coupe, the year it came out this was i do believe AMT produced in Three in One format. It had blue hot rod with red and white scallops, and the stock one as cover art, black plastic moulding. I went to Duluth with my mom and dad, and i think it was Walls Dept store, it had a hige stair case to the " motherlode", toys, hobbies, hardware, and furniture, the other floors were basically "junk", food, clothing, appliances, maybe a TV or two. Well i saw the display a mile away, it was a huge model box, of the 32 Ford, and i would climb Everest to have it, me being very rich, i had a 50 ¢ piece in my pocket. So i made my way over to the display and to my chargrin it was massive fort Knox price of 1.50! What to do, hmmmmm i was thaught not to steal, my parents werent anywhere around. So for the very first time i slit the 1/4 " plastic tape. Oh the wonder, the amazement , it was beautifully moulded, and no plastic tires, no sides to put on and it was a hot rod.So i went through the box, and clerk showed up, and said well " young man, the sign says do not open!" So i said my parents are up stairs and im buying this, and i wanted to see if the parts had flash, i lied, back then flash was non existent. So he says, " lets take it to the counter and pay!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh oh, now the jigs up. Calculating quickly, lets see, 1.49, 50¢ that leaves 99¢ , maybe ill find a dollar on the floor on the way to the counter, or maybe somebody will adopt me, closer to the counter, then walking down the stair case was my nights in white satin. I need ninety nine cents pronto. My parents are on their way, and i was trying every stall tactic on the planet, with the clerk. And some how we almost met at the check out. But i arrived first, and laid my solitary "gold", coin on the counter, thinking they didnt notice it wasnt a stack of three. So she goes do you have a dollar, and now i lied, time was of the essence, i said my parents are coming they have my dollar". Ok its mine all mine in moments. So, im standing with dreams what i can make this into all the covers of Hot Rod, Car Craft, Rod and Custom dance threw my head.( The mags then where 5x8, black and white, or perish the thought green and white, i degress. So here i stand looking up at the biggest people inthe world. My model barely at forehead level, what do what to do, the world is now spinning, and gravity is pulling ever stronger,my heart pumping, and i go this is my Mom and Dad, Bill and Irene, politeness is the key now, they have the goldengoose. So my dad said youve pick out a toy! The travesty, a toy how humiluating, its a model car a 32 Ford, and i did a commercial for AMT, well let the lady bag it up, well im a dollar short, i was robbed at gunpoint on the way to the counter, only people who watched Dragnet or Car 54 Where are You, would believe that. So to make a long story short or longer, i got my first model, i built the drag version, then the 40 Coupe Sedan, 32 Roadster, basically supporting AMT, and thats the truth, im 75.

Ford's 3rd company to make cars was Ford Motor Company. Famous for breaking the Seldon Car Patent that charged for EVERY car made in America. Henry named his first car after the popular style of the day - the Touring car or the "T". Then he built a new factory at an iron ore mine, closed shop for a year and opened with the Model "A". Great Build Chris, awesome model A kit ICM . looks much more refined than other older offerings. Would you guys believe my first car model was a JoHan '64 Cadillac coupe DeVille. I painted it gunmetal grey and put some horrible aftermarket wheels on it. Decades later, after hanging onto this model, I decided that I couldn't afford to replace it, Johan kits are way too spendy these days. So I restored the kit and gave it a second life, it sits proudly in my cabinet in Lime green pearl with an ivory roof, lowered with nice wheels . It looks like a completely different car. Keep up the great work Chris, love your builds, your presentation and enthusiasm. Cheers Anthony.

One of my first models I built that I remember was the revell 55 Chevy with open doors, trunk, and hood, probably late 70's. I built a few of them when I was a ked, then when I was 18 I built it again, I took a 25 year break from the hobby. I picket up one a few years ago but haven't built it yet

My first model was a 1958 Impala. I even remember my dad taking me to the hobby shop near his work to pick it out. That was in 1959 and that Impala is long gone although I have a Revell 58 Impala now to build. Many models and years ago.

My first kit was a Revell/Monogram '66 Shelby 350. Was destroyed by one of my cats. Then I turned it into a nightmare. 'roughly in 2000 I built a 350H which is the same model with different decals. Have another 350, but I wanna kitbash it with a GT convertible to build a 350 convertible.

Very nice model and build up Chris, they make some nicely molded kits. My first model that I built as a kid was the Monogram 1964 GTO street machine. Thanks for sharing this build.

Hi Chris, this looks great! It's amazing what modern mold making can achieve. The only drawback in my opinion, is the molded in windshield wiper. I think this kit is a must have for me. My first model was a tiny H0 scale chapel from Faller for my model railway. I was 7 or 8 years old at the time. After a few airplane and ship models, I finally stuck with cars

I believe it was Barris’ Ala-Kart back in ‘61-‘62. A memorable glue-bomb as a 12 year old. So memorable that I haven’t been willing to give it another go. If I do it will have to be the original ‘61 release

My first model was an English Electric Lightning 1/72 that I acquired from the Imperial War Museum in Duxford (uk). I must have been about 8-9. Haven't tried rebuilding it as my interest has swayed towards Vintage Cars and SciFi model kits which helps my Mental Health 😊

My first, after watching my brothers put kits together for awhile, was the Aurora ME-109 kit molded in a weird red plastic. This was in about 1968 or so. I have not seen one since. I remember that the pilot was split in two with each half molded with the fuselage halves.

Nice kit! My first model was a MPC 1979 Mustang Cobra that I assembled for show-and-tell in first grade (1979). It was definitely a glue bomb!

My first model was a AMT 64 Mustang. I am currently working on a build up of that kit as I wished I could back then. Also working on a resto of my actual kit from then only customized into a pickup. It is a high detail with kit bash and after market parts. Hope to have it done for the Atlanta show this fall. Thanks for the reviews.

My first model was Apollo 11 Moon Landing. I have rebuilt the Apollo LEM and CSM many times since then as an adult, My latest build of the Apollo build has been by 3D printing out the LEM, CSM and the Rover complete with interior and detailed exterior finishes. The 3D designs were from Vincent Meens and the Astronauts were designed by Ma Grueter. I must say as an adult detail is important to me even though most of the detail gets covered up or can only truly be appreciated by fans of the subject.
