He is by no means a service dog and I'd never cIaim him to be one. I take him to pet friendly stores where they are allowed. He stays focused on what I need to do. He is always leashed and walks on a loose leash. He would definitely put those fake service dogs to shame. Those fake dogs couldn't even pass an AKC CGC test. I went to Cabelas yesterday and a gentleman asked if my dog was a service dog. I replied no, then he asked to pet him. For me often since Amazon vests are used for real and fake service dogs the biggest tell on whether they are real or fake before it sees my SDIT is if the leash is attached to the vest or a collar. Often times fakes use a vest as a harness while real ones usually just use it as a vest alongside a collar. While this isn’t foolproof it’s a pretty good way to gauge which ones to avoid at all costs and which ones you simply just want to give some space out of respect. ( because it’s rude to use another team as a training opportunity without asking)

What if there was a way to get pet dogs registered to be allowed in public, but they'd have to pass a strict test first - the same sort of thing a service dog would have to pass, such as 1. Following basic commands 2. Ignoring distractions such as shopping carts 3. Ignoring people and other animals unless specifically given permission to greet. 4. Showing appropriate behavior when allowed to greet (no jumping or pulling on leash) 5. Remaining in heel position even if leash is dropped or removed. That way pet owners would have a way to bring their dog with them, but they would have to pass a test to ensure they're well-behaved first. I don't blame owners for wanting to bring their dogs with them, I blame them for bringing an untrained dog into public and thus causing danger to others. Thoughts?

So I’m gonna address some ignorant things you have said so you don’t say them to other people and get ripped a new one. Service dogs are 100% allowed in stores because they are required. They are not a choice that people get to have. They are no different than someone who has to be prescribed pills or a wheelchair. They are there to help someone with a disability. And secondly people do not go around and “search out” fakes. They avoid them but record them as-well, 90% of the time to protect themselves from being accused or to have proof for court if they decide to sue. There are some bad apples who purposely follow dogs, but those people are hardly a part of the service dog community. Typically their dogs aren’t even service dogs either.

@@romeliaanddixie I'm aware. I've been breeding working APBTS for more than 20 years for rat extermination, hog hunting, and gameness. I wouldn't say they don't have a certain look though (Although a lot of inexperienced kids on tiktok and instagram say that.) they have a set standard (ADBA and UKC) and yes some can look a bit wider, have a blockier head, some can even weigh up to 85 to 95 pounds if they're catch dogs for bigger game. But even then they're slim and don't look like they're on steroids like XL American Bullys or bandogges. Since they're working dogs like border Collies appearance varies but in my opinion, they do have a certain look. Just the same way a purebred border collie can be identified by structure, muzzle shape, head shape, ovetall body language (slinky body), etc. An APBT can be identified by structure, ear shape, legs and waist, and overall body language (pulling, legs pulled back, head high), etc. Even for bigger APBTS or APBTS that are extremely small, I've never had trouble identifying them. Backyard bred APBTS can look identical to an American Bully or Mastiff because usually Amstaff is mixed in for a bigger dog or they're overbred, standard not in mind. But overall, APBTS are smaller, ranging on average from 25 to 65 pounds, a very obvious waist line, legs low and skinny or at least noticeably slimmer, jaw line higher than their neckline so the head is higher, the head shape blocky but the snout can be slim to square. Any color except patterns like merle. They come in blue but it's rare and is a sign of unethical breeding. Since if you're breeding blue, you're doing it on purpose, a blue pup can occur naturally in a litter of non-blue puppies but it's best for it to be culled.

@pittymama45002 жыл бұрын
@@NirvanaAndToby ok first off, she was correct in her opinion because absolutely no real service team will have a "please pet" patch. The main reasons 😸 being that it's a bad habit to start, being that it will affect other teams and we don't do that to each other. Second of all the fact that you have more than one friend with service dogs tell me that is something to be suspicious about because I don't know too many service dog teams that have friends with service dogs and even if they do know someone with the legitimate service dog it's definitely not more than one. I have a feeling that you're grouping emotional support animals into this and that is not the same. And there is no such thing as a good health day for service dog teams because the point is that your dog needs to be able to identify a risk to your health if it were to happen it doesn't matter if it's a good or bad day. As a legitimate team we know that our job is to make sure that our dogs are not being noticed because they are staying to themselves and not being a bother to the public as this is actually part of the guidelines that the ADA has set forth. And another reason why service teams do not allow the public to interact with their dog since it teaches bad habits and lets the dog focus on other things. This creates problems with their job. So along with more things I could point too, it tells me your legitimacy. Js my opinion
@NirvanaAndToby2 жыл бұрын
@pittymama4500 it's fair that you think that And yes, no team will have please pet patches I have a cardiac alert and response and mobility assistance sd not Esa And I've met people in the sd community who are friends of mine, with real sds, who occasionally will let people pet their sd And while I rarely let people pet my sd, sometimes I do And for me, I do have good and bad mental health days Bad being I can't get of bed, have to use a wheelchair, ect Good being, I want to go places, I'm energetic, dont have to take as much meds, etc My dog refocuses quickly, so it's not a problem for us I can see why other people don't, and everything it's hard for people to not notice my dog she's 60lbs, jet black, with bright red patches saying do not pet And while yes, she is well behaved and highly trained, as all sds should be, that doesn't make her invisible, lol Again, I can see where you're coming from and completely understand, but we are a legitimate team with real issues, lol I just let people occasionally pet my sd, rarely in non pet friendly places and sometimes in pet friendly places I hope this helps :]

Complimenting their dog, petting it or having friendly talk with the owners only encourage them to keep bringing their dogs to stores. Hey, I have a question. If I see a dog with a service vest on, that means they are working, right? And if they have a vest on and are acting like a normal dog, they are not a service dog?
@romeliaanddixie2 жыл бұрын
It depends, if the dog is behaving like a service dog but doesn’t have a vest on they are still working. If they have a vest on or no vest and are in a place that doesn’t allow pets and they are misbehaving or doing something a service dog will never do (such as sit in a cart, be in a stroller, bark, growl, pulling, eat things off the floor, lunge and act out or be fearful) they are a fake. Vest or not. I always look for behavior before I judge a dog. If the dog has a vest or no vest and is in a non pet friendly area and behaving well I’ll think it’s real, if it’s acting out or clearly not helping their handler it’s a fake in my eyes.
