This video clip is the opening of the All Nite Theater starring Bob Shreve October 3rd, 1970. The Chauffeur driving Bob to the opening of the show is none other than the famous guitar pickup inventor and manufacturer Seymour Duncan! Little did Mr. Duncan know at the time how successful he would become later in life. This segment is the entire first segment of the weekly show up to the first segment of the first movie. This video was recorded five years before Bob would leave channel 9 and begin The Past Prime Playhouse on channel 12 that would run until September of 1985.

I used to watch this every Saturday night/ Sunday morning. It would be my me, my two sisters and one of my brothers starting out. Everyone would be asleep before the second movie, leaving me up all by myself. I miss Bob and his crazy show! Those were good times!!

Bob Shreve the Cincinnati Kid! Watched this show like other insomniacs though was at the very edge of reception of signal. Toilet seat picture frames and voices from above of John Wayne saying “That’s whiskey talkin” come to mind. Great entertainment.

Words cannot describe the utter genius of this man! The things he would do for a laugh! Seems to me he was on late nite in Cincy on Friday and then in Columbus the following nite. I was somewhat bookish back in the day so I would turn off the sound while the usually mediocre movies ran but then turn it back on when he ran through his skits. He was a true American original!

This guy was way ahead of all the late niters. Now it’s Svengoolie on MeTV. I enjoy watching him too. Sven and Bob entertain with the same kinda dry humor. I really miss those good ole days. No virus, riots and protesters to worry about back then

Very Cool clip. Seymour's band at the time, Surdy Grebus and mine, Mimsy Borogoves (Mike Fletcher, Mike Bobbit, and myself) rented a fire station banquet room in the Ft. Mitchell area and put on a dance one weekend around then. I never saw him again until I ran into him at the NAMM Show in Anaheim a few years ago.

That's the truth, too. My cousin, brother, our friends would stay up all night for this. We would all be doing our own thing and someone would yell, "Bob's on!" And we would all gather round the tv. Those were the days. It would have been great if someone had recorded all the old programs.

Bob would down those frosty Schoenling beers while the flix were playing and during the breaks he would be hammered while swatting at that huge Bar Fly! What a hoot and as far as I’m concerned a national treasure 🇺🇸 He would also have himself inserted into the movie like Godzilla was chasing him, 😂

I remember Seymour well. He and I were prop men and both served as "Charlie" behind the scenes from time to time. Thanks for the detailed information of the clip as it's the first clip I have scene from Channel 9. I left for the USAF May 5th, 1970, 5 months before this aired and doing searches on Bob I only came up with Prime Time Playhouse on Ch 12 that I never heard of. There was another prop man that worked the show as well named Dave Lacy who unfortunately died in a car accident around this time. Bob was a swell guy and fun to work with. Thanks for the memories Bob! BTW, you can see part of Nick Clooneys set as Bob enters from the rear door of the prop department. Al Shottelkotte's news set was adjacent to the roll away bar set up in Studio B. The announcer was Tod Hunter. Great diction and pipes!

Hey GOOGLER'S, I found an old Friend, of The Melon. I haven't heard or seen, The All Nite Theatre, with Bob Shreve, since I was a Very Young Melon, back in the Mist of Time & Antiquity. The Show was based in Cincinnati, Ohio. & I Lived in Dayton, Ohio, YAY! I used to Imitate Mr. Shreve's Comedy Bits , in Grade School & in the Real World, so you can see, why I'm kind of a Weirdo( ;).
