Great, perhaps you should also add a Kiwi icon for songs by New Zealand artists, Australian groups with NZ members and Australian artists born in New Zealand like Jon Stevens, Margaret Urlich, Crowded House etc.
@AVportau Жыл бұрын
regardless where they're from it's No.1 singles of the 90's Oz chart. did Jon Stevens, Margaret Urlich, Crowded House ever have a No.1 single in Oz in the 90's ?... nope... i think only OMC had an Oz No.1 single in the 90's... one out of 129 and you need a Kiwi icon? what about the rest?... probably good if someone did a NZ chart of the 90's and we could compare.

Talk about completely not getting it. I guess Cher, Madonna and Bryan Adams are Australian because of the unchanging symbol in the bottom left-hand corner.

Sonia Dada have SAFM to thank for their No. 1 hit I don't know who at that station heard that track and put it in rotation, but that song was charting in South Australia in 1992 thanks to heavy airplay and by the time it started climbing the national charts we were wondering why everyone else was so late to the party. Also, it's kind of amazing how Kravitz' follow-up Is There Any Love in Your Heart failed to chart. And Daryl Sommers had the pleasure to announce not only "for the first time ever...I'd Do Anything for Love", but also "for the second time every...I'd Do Anything for Love..."

90's were a great decade of music, even better than the 80's. I'm looking forward to the noughties number hits of Australia. Greetings from Australia.

Congratulations. You managed to make a great compilation of songs without including any from the greatest musicians of the 80s. Queen ‼️

Did you neglect to read the title?? It's #1s in the 90's in Oz. Freddie died in '91.

This is a list of the singles that reached #1 in Australia in the 90s. Queen only ever reached #1 twice in Australia one in 1975 with "Bohemian Rhapsody" and then again in early 1980 with "Crazy Little Thing Called Love". In fact, they only had nine singles reach the Australian Top 10 (eight, if we only include "Bohemian Rhapsody" once, since it returned to the Top 10 in 1991).

I actually get shocked Pikachu faces when I point out Mariah Carey only had one number one hit in Australia in the 90s...and that fact actually still shocks me to this day considering how big she was and how Australia follows American trends.
@samuelosler19942 жыл бұрын
Mariah Carey wasn't international, Madonna WAS international (she has more #1 songs in more countries than any artist in history), Michael Jackson WAS international, but Mariah had massive success in the US not the world
@joshmaclean31792 жыл бұрын
All her albums did extraordinary well. She had plenty of hits, they just did not make the lucrative spot. Fantasy was a terrible track. I hated it! I still do!
@2005riah10 ай бұрын
that's not true lol, music box sold more globally than any madonna album, including in some European countries, what happened is that the singles didn't do as well on the charts as they did in the US @@samuelosler1994
@gxspg8 ай бұрын
Mariah is the most certified pre-2000 artist in Australia, the difference is that people bought her albums more than singles. Music Box, for example, spent 18 weeks at #1 (ARIA albums) but no song from that album was #1

The Cup of Life was interesting as we are not a football nation. Starting the round ball show every Sunday on a now defunct radio station (still hear that woman who hated greyhounds yell WE ARE NOT COVERING THAT at a Sale meet every Sunday before it became TAB shown nationally 5 years after station becoming defunct) made me think Arthur Smith was a WC fan.

Could not believe this noisey bit of garbage did so well. especially here in OZ we did not care about the sport it represented.

Those people who complain about today’s music need to see how grim things were in the late 80s/early 90s before grunge came in.

WTF? That was not Take That in the video, why didn't you use the real "Back for good" video?
2 жыл бұрын
Well - thousands of songs have found their way into our films and sometimes there have been minor blunders, and so it was this time too. If Take That had been my favourite band, I probably would have noticed that I had chosen the wrong video. But the truth is, I'm a rock dude and I just didn't notice that this wasn't the original video for the song. I would very much appreciate your forgiveness.
