I love em all but Yang got my heart. She go through it and got them hands too. When Ruby is not confused, she really can do damage. Blake has so much going on with her that I need to rewatch everything and Weiss or Weiss (not sure how to spell it), she is literally the coldest of the group but it takes a awhile to warm up to her. All of them got hands and the other groups too. Don't sleep on them either. All of them are still learning and later on they become potent. Especially when Crow enters the picture

Welcome to the RWBY party! Just a couple things from your commentary. Yang, as well Ruby can't really 'jump' like they did in the trailers without the use of their weapons. If you go back and listen closely, they fire their weapons as a means of propelling themselves up, forward, or back. Ie... like with Yang jumping to take out the DJ Bear. Secondly, the majority of characters are based off of both fairy tale, and literary characters. Ruby is Little Red Riding Hood (who in the trailer fought a boatload of 'big bad wolves'), Weiss Schnee in German means White Snow (or Snow White) and her song Mirror (Mirror mirror on the wall, who is the loneliest of all). Blake who you correctly noted has cat ears and eyes is based off Beauty and the Beast while Yang is Goldilocks. If you continue deeper into the series look for characters, especially regular characters, and their names or attributes to guess whom they are based off of.

As someone that started back in 2012 and loved watching the show evolve over the years; its always fun seeing others dipping in xD Blake and Yang are def my favs w/ Yang being it from the start and Blake post-seeing her story and development over the volumes thus far. - Since its not really stated directly only alluded to: Blake cut the train after Adam's handwaving of the train passengers, so she did that both to get away from him but also to save the passengers. - The weapons are almost always "and a gun" xD - The animation steadily grows as the show progresses - The music & score are original by the one and only Williams' (Jeff and his daughter Casey)

I've never had an issue with the animation but I know others do, but regardless it does continue to get better. Especially since they switched animation programs at a particular point that really boosted it up and its been steadily evolving since.

14:30 Gambol Shroud ( Blake's weapon) is supposed to be a kusarigama/SMG combo if I remember correctly. She's pretty much the ninja of the team. Weiss and Blake are tied for my favorite on the team for just being the mage and ninja respectively. Definitely start this series! It has addictive characters, an investing plot, and plenty of amazing fight scenes like these. The best part is that the show takes cues from fairy tales. And this may have already have been covered, so bear with me. For Weiss’s trailer, the events are taking place in two separate places and times. The concert is a later event, presumably just prior to departing for Beacon. The other location with the Goliath Knight(?) is earlier and in a Schnee combat arena (or close enough going off the Schnee crest seen in the windows). The combat is arranged by Weiss to justify to her family that she can leave Atlas and train at Beacon instead. Notable also that while we recognize Weiss is always striving for absolute perfection, she is the one to most visibly display imperfection with the permanent dueling scar from the Knight across her left eye.

I don't know if anyone has said anything about the music yet, but I'll go ahead and say it. The trailers are sung by a young Casey Lee Williams, who is Jeff Williams daughter. For Red trailer, she was only 11 and 12 for the rest. As you watch, you will hear her vocals improve and mature alongside the characters, which really helps highlight the growth in the show. The music is amazing and gives a lot of further insight on characters emotions and inner dialogue. A lot of the music is placed specifically in regards to the characters. Like, a scene between two characters may have a specific song that highlights how they feel, then is revised throughout the show anytime the people are highlighted together. Music does play a huge part in it. Many people call it 'Homework', but I think it gives a different dimensions to their emotions and the character as a whole that makes it easier to relate with.

Already subscribed when you did episode one. Also, in that reaction, you asked if Glenda Goodwitch (of the north) was a reference to the Wizard of OZ(pin). Further, though they don't have slippers, the main character is a Ruby; and she has an uncle (Scare)crow. Other esoteric references to the movie will be found later in the show. As for Ruby and Yang being sisters. Ruby is the spitting image of her silver eyed mother, Summer (now deceased); while Yang looks more like their blond haired father, Tai. Monty was very clever in naming the four main characters as well. Weise Snee is German and literally translates as white snow. In medieval English (Chaucer, Canterbury Tales) Blake was their word for black. Yang Zao Long (hope I spelled that right) is Chinese and roughly means Golden little dragon.

Hey, Reggie!! I got some background about the trailers. Monty Oum did the red trailer on his own time while working on Red vs. Blue, the big series for Rooster Teeth at the time. When RT saw it, they said hell yes!! With Miles Luna & Burnie Burns, he crafted the first season on a limited staff & budget..... While they worked on Red vs. Blue!! The trailers blew up and the first season of RWBY was a total success. And continues to bring in new fans ten years later. Monty had even laid out the plot & storylines for 12 Volumes!! Sadly, Monty Oum loss his life unexpectedly during the second volume in 2015. Yet, Luna & Burns have kept his creation going!! Sorry, for the long post.... But, this is a great series and I hope you'll take the journey. It's worth the trip. Take it from an old otaku!! 🫡🌹❄️🖤🔥

- The White, Black, and Yellow trailers are canon backstory. The Red trailer was technically a proof of concept, so it's not canon (though I like to think of it as a dream Ruby had of being a Huntress). - The singer was only 13 or 14 when these trailers were made, loads of talent there. She's the primary vocalist for the entire series' soundtracks. - You'll meet Weiss (White, rhymes with 'ice') and Blake (Black) in episode 2 - In the White trailer, the girl is performing while remembering the battle. the revolving part of her sword loads up different kinds of Dust (each of which has/provides different powers) - the sheath of Blake's blade is metal and has an edge, it's essentially a bigger blade that fits over her regular blade. then she pulls the sheath off and she's dual wielding. - to quote Ruby in Ep 2, "It's also a gun." 90% of the weapons you see characters wielding can shift into some sort of long range weapon. - Just before the big robot showed up, Adam told her to "set the charges" Blake asked "what about the crew?" and Adam's response was "What about them?" Basically she doesn't agree with his bloodthirstyness. - seeing as you've already watched ep 1, you may recognise the guy leaving the bar as Yang walks over to talk to Junior. 😉 - Both Yang (Yellow) and Ruby use the recoil from their guns to help move around the battlefield - The DJ *was* shooting at her. - fun fact; the pair of girls Yang thrashes were early character designs for Ruby and Weiss - Monty Oum (RIP) was a martial artist himself so he believed in making fights be more 3D rather than just shifting back and forth along a straight line - The main characters, (and frankly most of the supporting cast) Are inspired by something. Fairy tales, books, history/mythology, etc. These 4 are all based on classic fairy tales (Red Riding Hood, Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, and Goldielocks) Junior is inspired by Baby Bear. - Also, the RWBY soundtracks are all original, and *all fire*. - It's an American made show, so technically, it's not anime (though there was an anime version made a couple years back)

If you like the fight choreography on this, check out Dead Fantasy 1-6, also by Monte Oum (the animator for the trailers and early seasons of RWBY). It's characters (mainly girls) from Dead or Alive vs Final Fantasy, and it's every bit as good as this (if not better). Unfortunately, 6 is only partly done and will remain unfinished, since Monte abandoned it to work on RWBY and passed away before he could get back to it -- assuming he intended on actually finishing it up. It's *_seriously_* well done, and it's what got Rooster Teeth interested in giving Monte a chance to make his own show.

So Blake's weapon, Gambol Shroud, is a what's called a Variable Ballistic Chain Scythe, if you've ever heard of the kusarigama, a bladed weapon on a chain, it is similar to that, her ribbon is quite elastic and durable and attached to the trigger mechanism so she can use it to redirect the weapons trajectory mid air, she technically does also have two swords, gambol shroud has a slim katana blade when it's not folded into chain scythe/pistol mode, and it's sheath is a thick cleaver like blade itselff Also she is wearing a bow just fyi, it's hard to see cause it blends in with her hair, curse of black hair and black outfit in this animation style

Very good answer. Small expansion is that the bladed end of a kusarigama is similar to a kama, a one handed farming sickle that can just as easily double as a weapon. And chain carrying a weight on the end. And if any would still question of practicality of putting any kind of edge on Gambol Shroud’s sheath, one could explain it as the sheath having dust woven into the striking edge where the user and focus and sharpen their aura into a cutting edge.

All the main characters weapons are pretty cool and fun but yeah Blake’s weapon is the most insane and honestly the most versatile. Just wait and see I’m a huge RWBY fan and the main controversy with this series is whether or not it’s an anime as it’s a western animated series. Similar to Avatar Last Air bender it’s that western series that very much has the potential to be classified as one. Definitely recommend watching this as the series evolves each volume. The reason why Combatants are tough in this is their AURA It Protects them, Fuels their Semblance and gives them a HP system of sorts They even flow their Aura into their Weapons, that's why they're able to use them without trouble The twins that Yang fights in her trailer aren't That important anymore They're called the Malachite Twins

The worst thing about RWBY is how all the characters get weaker and less skilled with each season. Red Trailer Ruby fights better than Vol9 Ruby, even.
