Yes! That professor should really cut NaMo some slack. Itss not like NaMo invented lying in politics. In a democracy especially in India politicians fibbing, promising rainbows, and leading people down imaginary golden paths is practically a national sport. It’s all part of the game, and NaMo’s just playing by the rules. Game is game......might is right.

Unfortunately the Professor is correct. As of the latest reports, India's GDP growth for the second quarter of the fiscal year 2024-25 slowed to 5.4%. This is a significant drop from the previous quarters1. The slowdown is primarily due to poor performance in the manufacturing and mining sectors, as well as weak consumption.

Through media, the Indian middle class is being cultivated to just Chest thump all the time. Being from the field of finance and economics I am able to clearly see that this Government has completely failed to manage such a high potential talented economy like India. All Unicorn startups are in deep shit...inflation is way above income growth for 90% of the population, India's debt is 4X of what was borrowed for 60 years. Yet massive unemployment, low wages, shrinking lower middle class consumption which is 70% of the country and therefore Private Capital investment is not taking off even after 10 years of corporate tax cuts, PLI stimuli etc. Complete Failure despite the high calibre and potential of Indians

Now with Trump cost of capital will go up, fortune will soon turn. Expect more Hindu-Muslim, freebies by this government. Absolutely correct assessment of the situation. The government despite its best efforts has been unable to get rid of the bureaucratic high handedness. Sunrise sectors such as green energy and container shipping are victims to a distorted market mechanism fully controlled by oligarchs (Adani). While the Modi government is definitely less corrupt than the past UPA, it just doesn't have the perspicacity to look beyond highway construction and dole outs; whether food or cash. It can effect change in the Indian bureacracy in 1 hour by charging these corrupt bureaucrats with high treason and throwing these invidious pigs into prisons for cheating India for the last 75+ years. Why can it not pass one law that provides a single window mechanism for individual sunrise sectors? I don't understand why no one in India can see that most of the future employment for Indian youth would be created in the following sectors: 1. High Quality Living - The country needs to embrace sustainable living solutions. Villages and Cities need to be completely transformed from the ground up. This means unprecedented scale of construction of new homes (using modern materials and not concrete jungles), utility, water, sanitation, community facilities, energy and green transportation. These will create tens of millions of jobs in (a) creation and (b) future maintenance. 2. Food, Waste, Air and Water - Urgent interventions are necessary to reform the food sector. Uncontrolled use of chemicals has transformed food into poison. The government is doing absolutely nothing in this regard. Focusing on safely growing food at food parks spread across the length and breadth of the country will again unleash tens of millions of jobs. Similarly, large scale waste management stations and water treatment coupled with recyclable water management systems can generate even more jobs at every nook and cranny of the country. 3. Service Delivery - We need an Ola or Swiggy for every conceivable service in the country. The government can fund creation of service center per 10k of population. These service centers will act both as logistics hubs and rent space to local entrepreneurs to unleash a wide swathe of services that the population needs. Now, you will ask where will the money come from? 1. Massive privatization - This is a no brainer. Just need the right intent. Start with PSU banks and SAIL. 2. Issue "Build India bonds" - Let the people of the country invest in their own future. Vast capital reserves of the Indian middle class can be intelligently employed. All that is needed is to remove the market bottlenecks and provide tax incentives. Give people a sense of pride that they are doing something for the country.

Indian economy is doing well in terms of many basic parameters even though it may be missing many targets and specific benchmarks. Let us focus on basic tasks like deregulation and quick decision making, encouragement for manufacturing, opening of economy in a phased manner etc. Everyone knows that no economy can grow at rates higher than maximum 7% on a sustained basis. So as long as we are around that target, we should be fine. Subash is a tricky person to understand. He keeps smiling all the times and he keeps vacillating between for and against the Govt.
