Here is Part TWO of my Buick 350 Engine Teardown. And OH MAN. It looks... tough... It took me approximately 4 hours to disassemble this engine completely. Comment below your ideas of what I should do with this thing! Thanks for watching!

Like you said at the end, it all comes down to cost/how much you want to spend. I didn't see anything there that a good machine shop couldn't fix (do you have one in your area you feel comfortable working with?), but it won't be cheap. Depending on the wear in the cylinders, a simple hone job may not be sufficient - you may have to get it bored over for a larger piston. You'll probably want to align hone the main bearing saddles - hopefully that will be enough to take care of any rust down there. I imagine the rods can be shot-peened to remove the rust and reused with new ARP bolts. Buick 350s aren't super common, but they aren't super rare either. You may be able to find a better core at a decent price, but it could take some time. If you're wanting to get started now and are willing to spend for the machine work, I vote for building what you have.

I would find one that's not rusted out, it will be a PIA for you to machine and clean up.

Keep the 350 if it is original to the car and fix it correctly back to factory specs. In the mean time find another Buick 350 and build it for performance by going on to facebook marketplace and craigslist. . . scrape together what you can and do a cost breakdown at the end of the build/installation, then take it to the track or dyno shop and let see what she will do👍👍

That is actually a great idea. I love the Buick 350 engine and I feel like it really isn't appreciated as a muscle car engine as it should have. These are sneaky powerhouses for their Era. Budget will come into play, but the journey is far from over

Definitely increase the oil pressure bypass spring pressure about 5/10 psi

@@langspeedcycle they use to a spring kit. Black and yellow and orange think yellow was stock ? Kenne bell had a high volume pump too. Now you can use new spring with 5/16 inch washer as shim . Make a straight thread plug and locking nut add 1/4 at a time last stock spring compression

Unfortunately mine turned into a lawn ornament. It was too far gone. The lifter valley was in rough shape and the cylinders were pretty pitted.

Get rid of that undersquare, no quench, small valve POS, get motor mount adapter and put a good 350 SBC in the car. If I live long enough my 70 Skylark will get a 496 BBC.Gen 5 block and chev trans in my shop now.
