Then have a train set to go between "Outpost" and "Supply" and it will set off whenever one of the outposts is running low on shells and otherwise just sit at the supply depot.

For my U-235 system, I just use a big loop that circles the system with 238 on the outside and 235 on the inside, then the loop overflows out. I've not had issues with it. The machine you have will backup with 238 eventually, which was similar to my original design, but the full loop seems to stop backups, and allows for centrifuges to be two thick. In order to get the arms to place on opposites of the belt, you just weave the belt a bit.
@josephsalomone4 жыл бұрын
I haven't seen you effectively use the belt weave method on your channel, nor effectively use the tunneling method, but I can supply you with blueprints if you'd like. I have a lot of highly effective blueprints for all sorts of things. I don't really like watching other videos on efficiency, as that is what makes the game fun for me, but if you want a few pointer on optimizations that I've not seen elsewhere on KZbin, feel free to DM me. I also almost never use logistics, because it seems like a hack around the problem.

I just realized that I've been using Nilaus's Kovarex system for YEARS now. I used a similar concept of overflow management waaaaay back in 0.16. TBH it is the easiest and simplest of all Kovarex systems. The idea behind this is you ideally start mining uranium ore as soon as you unlock the tech for it. The reason for this is it allows you to stockpile a very large quantity of 235 and 238. Even if you have no real use for it yet, letting two or three dozen centrifuges process it and sort all of it into massive arrays of buffers will ensure you stockpile enough materials to eventually "kickstart" this type of Kovarex setup. Depending on when you started processing your first uranium and when you slap down one of these Kovarex setups, you may very well have enough U-235 to just manually buffer all of them up and let them go.

@antonneuhold38044 жыл бұрын
Logistics is honestly the easiest way to go about Kovarex. Setup a requester chest next to your centrifuge that requests 40 or so 238, and some 235. Then have the a provider chest with an inserter to it that only activates when 238 in your logistics system gets below a certain level (like 1000 238 or something, it can always be increased). Copy and paste! Then in your machines that need to use 238, use an inserter that only activates when your logistics system has more than 800 or so 238 (something less than your previous number so that machines don't use all of your 238 before more can be produced)
@jadekaiser78402 жыл бұрын
The way I handle the U-235 processing is that first I make a circular set of inserters with a buffer chest (starting with a filter inserter ofc) to feed the U-235 back into the plant. Then I put another filter inserter set to take out of the plant as my process output, and hook a super-simple one-wire circuit between it and the buffer chest that reads how much U-235 is in the chest and only turns on the output inserter when it has more than a certain amount. I think I went with a buffer of 80, just to be safe, because I didn't want to bother figuring out exactly how small the buffer could be without the output doing something weird. Works like a charm, and the circuiting is simple enough for even a bare novice at using them, like myself.

Nuclear explosives are quite complex. You need enough fissile material to obtain critical mass, but not in a configuration that has a critical mass. Then you need to use explosives to force that fissile material together to become supercritical (and very much so); with a strong enough container to hold it all together to give enough time for the nuclear material to react, while not being so strong to entirely contain the explosion, and also made of a material with low fracture energy such that when it does eventually break it doesn't take a lot of energy away from the blast.

I watched the stream of the kovarex learning process not live, and it was so frustrating watching people in the chat give bad advice. It's like if you don't know why don't you just keep silent? If the streamer is new to the game he is not going to know which advice to listen to and you just make him more confused. It's the same with the rail signals. He's clearly heard some rule that you use chain signals in and regular signals out. Piss poor advice. That's not how signals work. There is no in and out of a block. But it's clearly something that stuck in his brain and is throwing him off. At least with kovarex he is done now and never have to rebuild it again.

The trick with the 235 is that you can't let it leave the system until the system has enough to start the entire process. In order for the system to have enough to start, you need a small buffer first and then you can let it backup into a chest or some other method that lets your base gain access to it.

your Kovarex setup was not bad; it just needed to be fully saturated to make sure no starving occurs while it tries to get saturated. If you had the full inserter stacking upgrade, I believe you would not have any problem; the problem was that you belt saturated before the inserter had time to swing back for more. Over time, because your stack inserter could not collect X amount each swing, you were probably having a net negative inputted in your Kovarex system... But yeah; Nilaus' blueprints are really good.

Kibitz, you only need about half of your nuclear production facility the beacons will cost you LOTS of power that you don't need to waste, as a factorio veteran, I found that 10-20 of the centrifuges was enough to support my factory running at 10 GW idle and 24 GW stressed. Here's how I do Koverax: From one corner of machine, filter inserter takes out one of the U into a chest. It's passed around a corner to another chest with a couple inserters, and then back in to the machine. Same on the opposite corner for the other U. Off the last chest is an inserter that's wired to the chest that only runs if there is more than the minimum amount needed to run the process, placing the excess into a provider chest. It's a little ugly, but it's fairly tile-able in both directions, if your last U-238 chest in the link is a requester chest asking for the minimum to run the process, and the last U-235 is requesting it's minimum. Copy paste, done, as many as you want, self starting from the first. There are ways to clean it up, make it more efficient, combining steps, but this is the simple and lazy way, lol. Edit: dang, Nilaus makes some good blueprints lol.
