I’m a history wiz. I love all historical warfares and empires and I love to learn about them. But when I watched this movie, it really changed my perspective on everything and it made me question the world more than normal. Not only this film, but many others, along with real-life war footage, you can tell that these young men were lied too and arent happy about what they’re doing. Not only that but they’re entire country ends up paying the price. Wether it be the lost life of family and friends, economical loss, and even those that do survive suffer the stated above plus PTSD, hallucinations, nightmares and much more. The people get generalized as this stereotype when in reality they were as innocent as those young men. I know that most of the vets that survived are long gone, and most likely in a better place. But it still hurts. Even interviews with WW2 vets are the most emotional thing i’ve seen. Young men were lied to because the government and military couldn’t suck up their pride for the better of their people. Especially if you think about what our eorld has turned too. Modern society is a failure. This is not what these men fought for. It’s really depressing, but also aggravating, atleast for me, because of the young lives lost, but also because the government and military didnt care. Instead of having them sit at their trench on high alert until armistice, they sent a full blown attack when it wasn’t needed. Alot of young men could’ve been saved, including Paul, but no. The government and military’s pride was “too important” compared to the luves of their soldiers, and all who went against it were shot in a firing line. This makes me sad, but I cannot do anything about it accept study it. This is alot but I just had to get some feelings off my chest because this genuinely makes me sick to my stomach, but also depressed and sympathetic towards those who suffered loss, although most of then may be dead today, I still give my condolences. May all those young men, American, German, Austrian, French, British, no matter where they’re from, Rest in Peace.

@@busterzigler7530 Mainly because schools of the world have failed to teach them properly, they teach them that world war 1 & 2 and the many other conflicts where gruesome. But never install a sense of respect & realization of the true horrors those few words in history books really mean to them, and because schools have failed to teach them it becomes ''boring'' & then these young minds will ingrain a sense of ''that is just the past & has nothing todo with us'' & ''i never asked them to fight for me, so i don't need to learn or respect it'' & with the combination of world politics going down hill it only becomes worse & so if i could only have 1 wish then it would be that all schools of the world play this movie in their classrooms so that they learn that not every solider that falls was a blood hungry maniac, but a father, a child or even just a unlucky civilian who was forced into duty. Now just imagine you go to sleep tonight and you wake up in this time period as your great grandparent or anyone who served and witnessing all of this and feeling it in real time, how would you feel?

And now isn't it? People wake up to the fact that rockets of the Russian occupiers are flying over their houses. Now a new world war, not directly, but still, the world is helping one relatively small country, which does not have enough economy to fight with its resources against the invaders. The occupiers spent a lot of time collecting weapons and everything, which is why it is very difficult to cope here. And what about the Ukrainian soldiers who do not have enough weapons to defend their home? Do you think better?

Yeah it’s definitely the most thought provoking movie I’ve seen and totally changed the way I think about some things. As funny as it sounds this and Puss in Boots have really changed the way I’ve felt recently despite being completely different.

I can’t tell if your joking or if you missed the point of the movie. I’ve seen many “masculine” edits of this movie despite the fact that it tries to tell you that believing war as a grand masculine endeavor is playing right into the hands of politicians who need cannon fodder for their goals.

@@Koyomix86 I have got another view. I agree that war is truly evil and this movie depict the war from this perspective. But what if there was no ww2 ? Will our world be better? I don't think so. I think that war is a necessary evil. Fighting is necessary for all time. We have to decide whether it's for right or wrong be sided accordingly. Now for those who don't wants to be sided, this seems nothing but for others, vet are kinda inspiration.

its sad how they were excited to go to war but not expecting the true reality and the sad thing is that war never has a happy ending it always ends up with something bad

Well, why byte and write it? Are you really glad that you live in a terrorist country? You have an occupying army, the main part of the people is zombified by propaganda, as if there are so many people, and one grandfather cannot be moved, because everyone lives in propaganda, slaves, they cannot do anything against the dictatorial regime, which does not care about its people, for the Russian government, people - useless, in them as in the Soviet Union, the price of human life is 0.
