As the old saying goes 'If it aint broke don't fix it.'
I had a play with the stretch function. Not sure if its better or not.
The milky way colours are better but more colour around the edge.
Hmmm.
Now need to wait for clear skies to try again.

I believe the vast majority are planes. Looking close, if they have dots in that’s nav lights. Brief flashes are satellite flare. Shooting star / meteors come from nothing to a bright flash and are usually short.

...looks very noisy, but the Milky Way has got a better contrast. It's really hard to say what is better...
