A Cyberdeck (Militech Paraline) completely changes the smart SMGs. The Overclock makes them way more effective (total of 90% more damage between perks and the effects of the cyberdeck itself). They Yinglong with this build does the most damage to Adam Smasher than any other weapon in the game.

Erebus scares me. As you said, those screams are haunting. I used the gun for about 10 mins, heard the screams, placed it back in my stash. Just had to use Skippy immediately after to lighten things up 😅 I never completed its quest so it still talks to me lol

Same. It's the gnarliest weapon in the entire game for that reason, and it's appropriate that it's possibly the most powerful of all now. Meanwhile, I just couldn't bring myself to slot the cyberdeck, no matter how cool the instakill Gate is. Gun in hands? Maybe. AI linkup in actual head? No thank you. And besides, the Arasaka stealth deck is still the best anyway, so...

I love how Netwatch even sends out hit squads to kill you and retrieve Erebus or the Kanto Cyberdeck. Erebus may truly be the most heinous crime committed in this game, even considering all the nasty things the Scavs do, I almost feel sorry for them as I obliterate their souls... almost.

Outside of Erebus being completely OP, my favorite is the Raiju in hipfire mode. It has pretty much 0 spread, an extended burst count compared to the Sankoh, bonus HS dmg & wallpunching. I love aiming at heads while Dashing around in Sandy, as the burst fire mode works quite well with slow motion, the mag gets refilled slightly and I straight up just holster it to apply SMG FUN between mags. If you like headshots like I do, the Raiju is an absolute run & gun laser beam :D

Fenrir is a go-to gun against cyber-phychos early and even mid-game i'd say. Simply because of the fact that it can turn the enemys dodgy sandevistan off and force him/her to fight you on your own terms (And then i picked up Problem solver and had way too much fun simply throwing away all the lead i have into beefy enemy's organism. But aiming in from a moving vehicle, when you go loud on Riders of the Storm is a pain in the back)

Fenrir is great. On my most recent SMG build playthrough I got it early and it was pretty much the only gun I ever had to use. I learned the hard way though that the damage over time would occasionally kill the cyberpsychos after downing them, which was annoying

I could be mistaken, but I think Fenrir uploads Cyberware malfunction. Because of that, it makes it really good against MaxTac. The same way spamming cyberware malfunction on MaxTac with a monowire can destroy them.

Mine too (Fenrir). I use it with ricochet and melt enemies with it. It also is useful against drones and mechs because of the electrical damage. Buzzsaw will not do ricochet (shoots thru a floor instead of bouncing off it). Used to use Psalm 11:16 but it got tons of recoil over the newer versions from 1.52 on making much less useful for long range headshots and it stopped doing ricochet (which is really a form of aimbot for tracking Fast movers for easy kills), because of its explosive rounds. I tested them all in 1.63 and no guns came close to the Psalm in time to kill (beat the Arasaka container Smart gun). Not anymore. Now my time to kill kings are Byakko katana and Testara shotgun (1 shots lower level enemies and if at low level- reboot optics- Igla shotgun, I just run up to them and headshot them, 1 shot kill (low enemies) or turn Sandy on, do same). Higher level enemies I use a grenade to soften up their health then attack if possible. Watching these guns go to work seems to me way to long to get a kill. But...if thats what makes for fun, yaa.

Raiju is bae. I took the Canto for my PL endgame item and boy does it slap. You need to build around RAM+Health regen, drop a control QH, then Blackwall, then hit overclock and just watch everyone get toasted. Raiju go brrrrrrrr through the wall at anyone who survived.

The Canto pairs really nicely with smart guns as well, since there's a perk that returns 2 RAM per smart gun elimination, so against groups of enemies you may not even need to trigger overclock to get all 5 chain uploads of Blackwall Gateway (Ashura is GOATed for this, since it's a reliable one-shot-kill against most targets)

Something that makes Erebus just a tiny bit more crazy is that when using Overclock with the Raven Mycrocyber, the cyberware malfunctions that Erebus uses can apply to enemies all around the target. Its small but it is damn fun.

So glad my raifu Buzzsaw gets some recognition. And yes, you can 100% use it for stealth. It will almost always kill non-skull enemies before they can alert with Gag Order, and the level 55 Headhunter bonus ensures you just melt anything from stealth. Its biggest benefit for stealth is that you can kill two enemies that are lined up before they can alert., or silently kill one enemy through a wall that otherwise doesn't give you a clear shot from stealth. Dude actually massively downplayed its stealth utility.

The Shingen Mark V Prototype is in my opinion the best Smart SMG for a Smartgunner build. Load Contaigon on a few enemys and let them explode. This combo also beneftits of a lot of the explosion perks.

Fenrir is a great early game gun. It can in fact be aquired after Act 1 before the rest of NC is opened up for you. It might even be the only iconic weapon you can acquire at this point in the story line.

cant believe u did smart SMGs so dirty! jokes aside tho, its UR list and thus ofc reflects ur personal opinion for the most part, which is thr reason we watch it in the first place * ^^ * but: the "issue" of aiming at several enemys u can easily work around with "aiming" which makes it aim at 1 enemy at a time (unless u use the perk that adds +1 to targeting ofc), even locking onto weakpoints often times and making it alot easier to aim down specific targets. and the G58 Dian also fires explosive rounds, which can be pretty handy for tightly packed enemys

Basically charge up the bolt shot, release with the right timing and then just hold the trigger. That's how it's explained in-game, and it lets the weapon keep firing in that enhanced mode. But goddamn I love firing bolt shots through walls with 0 damage penalty.

Glad to see Erebus won but I must say that most smart guns here failed to win because of your chosen build. Smart guns really shine if you use them with a cyberdeck and overclock. The militech paraline for example in overclock mode buffs yinglong, the Raven microcyber spreads contagion instantly and a follow up with the shingen mark V is destruction. Use the right build to bring out potential of the guns man.

Honestly SMG are my favorite type of weapon in this game, so prior to Erebus I wouldn't know which one is my favorite. But the screams oooooof It's so terrifying, brings me a dose of adrenaline each time I hear one of those. The raw fear when I just look at a corpse downed by Erebus, imaginating what it must feels like...Damn, by far my favorite weapon in the game. Oh and I forgot about the lines ! Having an evil Skippy telling me how he'll murder my species is soooooo terrifying, it's great. Sooo great in fact that once I obtained it, I created a new save file to start from Phantom liberty, skip as much gig as possible, get my hands on it, and do all the game with it. i LOVE buzzsaw its so good for stealth if you got a tier 5 xc10 cetus and kanetsugu (for %10 crit damage bonus) and all the smg skill tree perks. you can kill probably all of the enemies behind walls without even getting detected also its soo good for the netrunners that tryna track you too

Yinglong is one of the best to pair with a intelligence hacking build. Its perfect for spraying into a crowd while you wait to regen enough health to keep hacking (and with the heal on kill cyberware it helps regenerate faster) and it can get bonus damage from overclocking. About the worst you can say about it in that build is that its always playing seccond fiddle to just hacking the crap out of everything but its an excellent sidearm for larger fights.

Yeah, and the perk that gives you dramatically more homing % with every point of RAM you have in your cyberdeck (1% per RAM, so 40% additional accuracy with a 40 RAM deck, in addition to the other passive that gives you a flat X% more homing accuracy). The Yinglong winds up being a near-aimbot bullet hose.

it is literally the best starter gun to acquire. I too was shocked. I acquire it as fast as I can and then rely on it till lvl 30 when I can specialize into my build. for me, it is top 5 best for this reason. it is the early game grind gun. and even though I loved the original "spits fire like a dragon" design, the new shock dmg + cyberware malfunction design is what propels it to one of the best smgs, the ideal starter iconic to grind out early lvls. I love fenrir, I rely on fenrir.

I love the regular Warden because it feels like the strongest smart weapon to pair with headhopper and hackatomy. With the reflex 20 perk it just shreds through hoards on enemies and felt stronger than the Chesapeake to me. The Pizdets is definitely nice for its silencer but having half the ammo also bothers me a little compared to the regular model

First of all, thank you for the video, it was a joy to watch as always. ^^ Now that I am up to date I remain steadfast in the idea that a Pistol, SMG, Sniper loadout would fit me best. Chaos, Raiju and Breakthrough for a lovely red theme (A regular Senkoh before Phantom Liberty)… And possibly swapping to Her Majesty and Rasetsu for the very late game after the associated missions (but keeping Raiju). I would say an elegant, very spy-like loadout. I like the sound of that. (possibly an interesting theme for a dedicated build..?) ^^

Problem Solver is my go to! In short bursts I can head shot at superior range than most other SMG’s. I really liked Problem Solver combined with the Militech Sandevistans. The high rate of fire of the gun makes it work really well with time dilation effects. More recently I got the Erebus and the blackwall gateway effect is amazing. On my next playthrough I'm definitely modding the gun in to have access to it earlier and without having to choose the one specific ending path to obtain it.

If you are specced into submachine gun perks at all you are legally required to use the Problem Solver as your primary vehicular weapon. It’s just so good on the road. You just have to point it in the general direction of hostile cars and motorcycles and it’ll pop their tires in seconds.

Raiju is definitely better than the buzzsaw. If you actually bother to get headshots the extra crit absolutely shreds any level of enemy and the ability to do that through a wall by pinging them makes it very hard for anyone to hit you unless you let them. Cyberware compressor seems like a waste compared to a cyber deck with ping. You can also use it as basically a sniper. The lack of horizontal spread and the speed it shoots, only needing to hit a single burst to kill someone means you can use it at way longer ranges than are fair. Significantly longer than assault rifles that's for sure. Did my first try at storming Arasaka tower with the Raiju and beat it first go without any trouble. The enemies couldn't even get close. I had forgotten completely any of Smashers abilities or waves I just jumped around with my charge jump and a burst at his head would take away an entire section of his health.

We need to discuss Fenrir. If Buzzsaw is better, then why is Fenrir killing faster without any extra cyberware? Also, the quickhack stuns nornal enemies too. Even more, you could get all cyberware stats to do eletrical damage to improve fenrirs damage, something that cant be done with Buzzsaw. Reload is also way faster on Fenrir, maybe just as fast as swapping back and forth from another smg. Anyone had this experience?

The Prototype Shingen is the best SMG for a Netrunner utilizing Contagion and the deck that instantly spreads it. It causes such mayhem especially with explosion perks from the Tech tree, it's really hilarious!

I'm surprized you neglected the ricochet system with the power smgs. Problem solver with ricochet and muzzle is funny but you need the damage buffs. Fenrir used to be great for just setting a room on fire but now I don't like it as much. Good as a car gun.

On a vanilla playthrough before adding PL, and not a fan of smart weapons, that elimates most of these. SMGs also work well with short bursts at headshots - doesn't have to be all spray and pray. Throw on a silencer and you can double-tap a dozen enemies and maintain stealth

Honestly I think optical camp is a must have for smgs because with the relic perk it allows you to get out of combat when you're out of ammo

How on gods green earth does your smart guns not have a ton of their bullets go wide? The footage of the Warden in particular looked absolutely CRAZY. I feel like no matter what perks I pick or whether or not I am locked on to a single or multiple targets that a ton of my shots go to waste.

I think the Saratoga is closer to a UMP than an MP5, but that's just me being picky. Thanks for the list, I recently started an SMG/assault rifle character specializing in smart weapons, because even though I have 370 hours in Cyberpunk, this is somehow a build I've never done, so this was really helpful!

Coming from Destiny 2, Erebus has me in a familiar but strange feeling. Its like a combination of the automatic, multiple pellet shooting Cerberus+1 and the Outbreak Prime/Perfected, which gun contains a technological virus that can spread by killing enemies. All this in an SMG form, i had to go for it on my playthrough.

I find with any automatic weapons the advice given to Ripley ('Remember...,short controlled bursts') and others was spot on and reduces the natural bullet spread. in other words pretend it's a AR-15 and and your aim will improve

Damn shame CDPR chose to make DS-1 Pulsar into a Darra SMG instead of Teknotronika AR, considering the whole thing is based upon TKB-022PM, a soviet assault rifle prototype made by German Korobov, a wacky mad genius with some rather innovative ideas... I chose to use it with the Swiss Chese perk to reflect this, though a mod that would allow me to use rifle ammo and higher damage at the expense of recoil would have been far better...

I'm currently testing the Warden smart msg and it does insane amount of damage. I can kill some of the bosses with one clip . Probably only Pizdec can match this firepower , but i really like the hackatomy mod and since im using tetratronik ripler i prefer my targets always to be hacked ...

The senkoh lx is deserving of a top 3. With bolt affect, its an area weapon. It will wipe 3-4 enemies in a single burst due to chain lightning paired with the burn affect when u max engineer skill progression. I spec’d in DOT bonuses on my cyberware bonus stats. I have +70% DOT stats. Fire+emp dots shred target.

Personally I think the Shingen Mk. V should score much higher than it does. Being a smartgun this gun is brilliant for the offensive netrunner build. Get a Raven Microcyber and slot a contagion quickhack on it. When you upload the quickhack and everybody in that cluster of enemies gets the contagion cloud, just burst some into that general area, with the multi-targeting ability of the Shingen it will ensure a pretty decent spread of burn procs which will completely saturate the area with explosions killing most enemies in seconds.
