I agree, I didn't like Ginger's attitude on the show, but that never stopped me from realizing that she was incredibly well rounded. Plus she SHOWED her acting and comedy chops, and stated on the show that she was able to sing as well. What I find most shocking is that this wasn't made a duet with Adore. I think their voices would have paired wonderfully with each other! Now I'm yearning for a live singing number on a reunion like they do with dancing. I could see Jinkx, Ivy, Ginger and Adore doing something stellar. No I didn't leave out Courtney Act. I just think her singing voice is....more of an acquired taste.

What a wonderful point, Tyler. I have come to watch this a dozen times - at least. It is soooooo true, her acting at the beginning is AWESOME with her emotion and looking in the camera, she's the character, and LOGO was lazy and didn't put her name in the video title - wtf. Just like Ru and many RPDR fans who don't give her the accolades she deserves. I am so happy I got to see her Double Wide Diva doulbe-concert in Orlando in 2022. She was so nice to me, said at the start of title track, "here's your favorite song!" after I had spoke with her during the middle of the 2 concerts! She's so smart and sweet. I was talking to her husband, and was about to approach her, and I turned to her and smiled, and she acted like an excited girl waiting to be asked to dance, and stuck her tongue out and wiggled around excitedly and I said I'm coming over, I've just been too nervous, and she was the most genuine person ever... So deserving of super stardom.

Ginger should get all the credit and they should rename the video. She definitely deserves more and in my eyes she is forever iconic. However, the other girls are not just props, this is a performance and they are integral to the number. They are part of the story and even if they're not the main characters they shouldn't be reduced by saying they look bored or they're just sitting there. Not all performances require singing or dancing or special effects or even smiling in order to be eventful. They are helping Ginger tell this story, share this message and it's beautiful and inspiring. It makes me think that even if we usually see drag Queens as being fun and dramatic and life-giving goddesses, in the bigger scheme the impact is not always the one that you first thought of. Like that beautiful line from 'Paris is burning' which goes something like: 'When you're young you think you're going to change the world, but as you grow older you settle for changing just one person' Sorry, I didn't expect this to be such a rant, it's just something that I had on my mind
@machin85934 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think especially with each of these queens having very unique personalities, I mean Alyssa Edwards, Alaska, Phi Phi?? They're passionate about their craft and unapologetically themselves, even if they've been hated for this. They can definitely say "I am what I am" and believe it. And their dresses emulating the colors of the rainbow, imo Ginger's performance and the girls they chose to perform with her, all of those choices were the sincerest expression of love towards the song.

Sorry grrls lets get our Herstory right. With solid props to Harvey Firestein: "I Am What I Am" is a song originally introduced in the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical La Cage aux Folles. The song is the finale number of the musical's first act, and performed by the character of Albin Mougeotte, first played by George Hearn. His version appears on the original cast album released in 1983. The song was composed in 1973 by Jerry Herman, an openly gay man.

Ginger said that her last drag performance would be her singing this again, so I decided to Google it and I felt so happy while watching this. My jaw was open the entire time. I even shed a tear because of how excellent her performance was. Impeccable, Ginger! I hope you make it to the top 4 of All Stars 6, good luck!

Lyrics for anyone who wants them; I am what I am I am my own special creation So come take a look Give me the hook or the ovation It's my world that I want to have a little pride in My world and it's not a place I have to hide in Life's not worth a dam 'Til you can say I am what I am I am what I am I don't want praise, I don't want pity I bang my own drum Some think it's noise, I think it's pretty And so what if I love each feather and each bangle Why not try to see things from a different angle Your life is a sham 'Til you can shout out, I am what I am I am what I am And what I am needs no excuses I deal my own deck Sometimes the ace, sometimes the deuces It's one life and there's no return and no deposit One life. So it's time to open up your closet Life's not worth a dam 'Til you can say 'hey world, I am what I am'

Ginger that song you preformed on the talent show on all stars did not do you any justice!
@Dalsemien5 жыл бұрын
Her voice was great in that song too, especially compared to Adore and Phi Phi, which is why Ginger was in the top 4 for that performance.
@williamskelton3255 жыл бұрын
@@Dalsemien actually she was not critiqued well. Michelle clocked her look and Raven said it sounded like a song you sing when you've already been singing for half an hour and you're tired. I feel like she was actually a low critique but the bottom 3 just did worse than her. However adore shouldnt have been in the bottom at all. It was clearly coco and Phi Phi who were far and away the worst
@ea61025 жыл бұрын
@@williamskelton325 Honestly Adore's voice was not good, it was shaky and the tone was bad. But at least she hit the right notes unlike PhiPhi.. and we won't even talk about Coco.
@Dalsemien4 жыл бұрын
@@williamskelton325 If you look at the official statistics, Ginger and Alaska were billed as "high" outside of the top 2. So what you "feel" is irrelevant. There were 4 high positions and 3 low positions that episode.
@williamskelton3254 жыл бұрын
@@Dalsemien those are entered by fans. If you actually listened to the critiques they were not the glowing critiques that usually constitute a high mark. Its has nothing to do with how I feel, my ears are functional and I listened to what the judges said.

I really don't get all the Phi Phi hate, her season was soo long ago and all of that is behind her and she's really talented... oh, and for all of you that don't know, most of her arguments with sharon in season 4 were not real, they were faking it for attention, she talking about this on her interview on 'hey qween' 5.Tatianna looks absolutely gorgeous, she's one of the most beautiful queens out there.
