I didn't become a really big fan until 2 years ago. I don't have a tv or cable. Haven't had it for almost 20 years. So about two years ago I kept getting world of wonder recommendations on my you tube and the more I saw the queens from rpdr and learned about their personalities ....I was like well damn what have I been missing all this time. So I have a lot of catching up to do. 🌈😘 I can't wait to see what Ongina is going to bring the rest of as5! What a sweetie.

It’s the moment that made the show. On paper a competition show for drag queens sounds like the trashiest reality tv concept ever. Ongina coming out as HIV positive snapped the whole show into focus. Suddenly it wasn’t just a silly competition between a bunch of dudes dressing up as women anymore. The show actually had something to say about the human condition. As much as we love the fashion, the dancing, the acting, the comedy and the drama at the end if the day the real reason behind the continued succes Drag Race is that it tells real stories of people in the margins of society that aren’t getting told on other shows.

By that reasoning they shouldnt show Ongina coming clean about her HIV status. But it IS a part of her. Part of dealing with trauma is acknowledging it and moving forward which Blair has done remarkably. She also brought a spotlight on an issue rarely talked about... young gay men sexually attacked. It happens to a lot more than people think.

I think that it's a memorable moment because she was very vulnerable, and sharing that with the entire world is so brave and requires so much courage; it shows that you aren't alone if you have been sexually assaulted, and you can get through it. Im really glad they've cast a mix of old season with new... As a day one fan its so good to see the evolution of not only the show but the queens. I love the newer dolls but there's such a difference in the older seasons queens, there wasn't as much self producing. It seemed more organic and im not saying the way its produced now is a bad thing its just way more than a competition now it never seemed like a reality show which is what direction it took... Either way from 1-12 its been an amazing ride... Its escapism at its finest... And like my head ive had no complaints yet... Really excited for mariah, juju , ongina. And of course India because ive not seen her drag since her season and it'll be interesting to see with fresh eyes. Only downside is uk Netflix has put our as5 back to next week so we have to find links... Its worth the risk of virtual viruses

Couldn't agree more. We know we're early fans when Juju, Ongina and Mariah are the queens we're most excited for :) Must say, I'm #TeamShea for the win, but rooting hard for those three too. I gave up trying to find the premiere and will just watch it when it gets to Netflix on Sat. Shame to have that first episode spoiled (I forgot to unfollow the Drag Race YT channel), but I'll live. Here's to more of these iconic queens!
