All The Basses 008: Guild JS-II (Jet-Star) Vintage Shortscale Bass // Serek Basses

All the Basses is a side project dedicated to showcasing some of the perhaps lesser known basses of years gone by. I do not claim to be a bass historian, I merely want to highlight some of the more interesting aspects of these instruments, and to showcase their tonality.
Guild made some very cool basses in the 60s and 70s, it is certainly one of my favorite brands from the USA! This short scale JS-II features two growling "anti-hum" pickups, Mahogany construction, and some interesting electronics. It has a fast neck, it's lightweight, and it sounds great!

The bass was recorded direct through a Scarlett 2i2 and a mic'd Aguilar SL-112 paired with my GK MB Fusion 800.
