YESSS Abby Jimenez! She consistently writes stories that pull my heart out, stomp on it and then stitch it back together. I fall for it every time.

Was just coming here to comment this!! highly hiiiighly recommend reading them in order because you'll get the most impact and you'll understand the many, many character overlaps. Plus they're all great reads

@@ShrutiSingh2605, it's okay! You can read out of order and still have a good time. :) But I agree that if you haven't read any of them yet, you should read them in order for the biggest impact since she wraps up the series in a nice bow at the end of Just for the Summer.

Would love a monthly round up video maybe saying how many of the books you got through of your TBR or if you didn't, what percent your'e on/if it's being moved to the next month's TBR.

I'm working my way out of a reading slump so I'm doing more mood reading than selecting a tbr for the month. I've already read nearly twice as many books as I usually do, so it was definitely the right move for me :)

Thanks so much for another great video. I always get so many great book recommendations from you! Would you consider making a video of recommendations for good "beginner" sci fi books for those (like me!) who are looking to get into sci fi but who find the genre a bit intimidating? 🙂

I hated Red Rising. I've read sci fi since junior high (currently in my 50s) so I have many sci fi books/series under my belt. I had so many issues with Red Rising, if I'd had the physical copy, I would have thrown in at the wall. Happily, we all have different tastes and there are many many books out there. 📚

read lgbtq+ books throughout the year (both fiction and nonfiction), but in June I try and read them exclusively because it is Pride month. So this month I want to read: Queer Politics and Sexual Modernity in Taiwan (which is a carryover from May and I have already finished), 10 Things That Never Happened, Stars of Chaos vol 3, Guardian vol 2, Remnants of Filth vol 3 (finished), and Sex, Sexuality, and the Constitution: Enshrining the Right to Sexual Autunomy in Japan (which isn't strictly about lgbt, but may have sections on it), and Ballad of Sword & Wine vol 1. Also will read the Japanese language book 2000 Most Common Japanese Words in Context, as I am trying to get back into studying. We'll see if I get to another Japanese language book, as well. I will break away from reading queer-themed books briefly to read Breast & Eggs and All the Lovers In the Night by Mieko Kawakami, and also Life Ceremony, which I recently ordered. I read a lot of nonfiction books on Japan, but another good way to learn about a culture is through its literature. And, of course, some BL manga.

Is it necessary to read The Liveship Traders and The Rain Wild Chronicles before The Tawny Man and The Fits and the Fool? I'm currently reading Assasin's Quest but The Liveship Traders and The Rain Wild Chronicles are not available in my country :(((

Yes. There is some lore about the elderlings and the magic system in RWC thst is critical. And, I really love RWC- i found many parallels to those who are heavily marked and how they were treated by society to how people with disabilities have historically been treated. As far as liveship- there is a pivotal conversation in Golden Fool that won't make much sense without reading Liveship. Plus, Paragon is such an amazing character.

Honestly, I quit the Red Rising series after the 2nd or 3rd book. It just got more and more violent/ridiculous over time and I truly lost interest in even the main characters. I loved Just for the Summer and Abby Jimenez in general. My favourite book of hers is The Happy Ever After Playlist because it’s just so adorable.

The writing in RR made me dislike the book (I had to remind myself pierce was like 20 when he wrote it), but the story was so good! Book two writing is better, but I did find the story slows down and I find it loses my interest personally. Hoping for better for you!!
