This is an interesting question. It could be assumed that they were running out of color combinations for character designs, and since Starlight is a manipulative pony, they couldn't use dark colors for her. But what perplexes me is that there is a background character (i forgot her name) who looks nearly identical to Adagio, so perhaps it's intentional (there is no pony who resembles Sonata, however)

It perplexes me that the most memorable and the only real antagonists in Equestria Girls ( as in they are the only villains that aren't possesed by something that's making them act evil, alongside Cinch) were present for such a limited amount of time. Even if thier musical numbers were to be included,that would still be very minimal screentime for the Dazzlings. It's such a shame that Equestria Girls has come to an end,and didn't feature these ladies more often. I would have adored more musical numbers from them,more explanation and focus on thier past,more merchandise of them,and in general just more scenes with them. Dazzlings fan for life 💜🧡💙
