So much hate for the new 86 front bumper.. I honestly thought it looked bad when I saw it in pictures, but I just bought one and in real life this car is gorgeous (bright red with TRD springs and TRD catback). Of course you won't win any drag races, but the car is fun, rewarding and feels fast when you push it at the limits, and that is way more important in my opinion than straight power. Traded the FiST for this 86, and no regrets here.
@TienDaEditor7 жыл бұрын
agreed, the bumper doesn't translate well on camera but looks really good in person. Looks way more aggressive than the old one imo and less of a "ricer" look.
@jeph03097 жыл бұрын
More torquey indeed :P. Honestly it felt faster but wasn't that much faster, assuming you're using the right gear in the 86. If I had to summarize the differences, I would say the FiST is more direct (better turn-in, more aggressive brakes, big torque) and more fun while the 86 feels more natural and rewarding (better ergonomics, RWD, low CoG, etc). I made a little post on reddit where I try to explain the differences if you're interested: www.reddit.com/r/ft86/comments/6wcfq5/traded_the_fist_for_an_86/
@jeph03097 жыл бұрын
Yes It had lift-off oversteer. It made some interesting moments at the track, it was fun for sure! But if you try to foor it mid-corner, it will understeer a little.
@jeph03097 жыл бұрын
The fiesta has a noticeably worse ride than the 86 believe it or not :P, because of the rear twist beam, the tire profile and the suspension setup. And the seat are way more aggressive than those in the twins.
@jeph03097 жыл бұрын
A little worse than the frs, and I have lowering springs on my 86! lol but it isn't a deal breaker, they are comparable. I think the biggest difference is the independent rear suspension in the frs vs the twist beam in the FiST

I test drove the BRZ and loved it, the problem is I currently drive a 2016 manual camaro ss and just wasn't convinced with the power the BRZ had. I think it just needs 50 more HP which I think is what this car needs. I know everyone says this car is meant for back roads and track driving. While that is true how many brz/86 owners use their cars at those places. So let's hope for at least a 50 hp upgrade.
@MattMaranMotoring7 жыл бұрын
Well it depends where you live. Most of my local roads are quite windy so a great handling car is a lot of fun. Anywhere in the middle of the country with all straight roads the 86 wouldn't shine. If you're looking for something smaller that handles similar to a BRZ with more power, consider the BMW M2. If the muscle cars didn't exist, there's a good chance I'd own one of those.
@bishoygebrael70787 жыл бұрын

IDK what Toyota was thinking, but the new 86 styling doesn't compare to the Scion's styling at all. I'm looking for a low mileage first gen. Release series right now.
@dreamimage1737 жыл бұрын
Why is this so hard to understand?! Scion didn't make the FR-S! In 2012, the Toyota 86/Toyota GT86 and Scion FR-S were released to the whole world. But why were there 3 names in 2012? Because Toyota gave the U.S. and Canada the bootleg name, Scion FR-S but gave everyone else (Japan, China, Philippines, Russa, India, France, Australia, you name it...) the Toyota 86 or Toyota GT86 name. Toyota created the car and designed it both in 2012 and the refresh in 2017. Scion had nothing to do with it's design. It was all Toyota! The design of the car was by Toyota.The Scion FR-S was a Toyota designed car, ...with a Scion badge.

@markyazurin6304 Жыл бұрын
@@consciousa6145 I ended up holding off and got a 2018 BMW m4 instead and a 98 integra gsr, and an Acura TL 04 within 3 years. I do have friends who have the car and it's reliable as long as you're on top of maintenance. But for a daily I'd recommend getting a Honda/Acura for peace of mind as it ways easier to work on and maintain and you can beat on it. I daily a Honda CRV 2021 fully loaded and I put 20k miles a year on my daily cars. Like you, I have a younger sis too, so its best to get them something more safe as all. All Hondas now come with standard safety features as well. If they want a more "expensive car" in the future, I'd say they should start off with a Honda first to gain more behind the wheel experience as well. No matter what a 2013 is still a good option but keep in mind its a 10 year old car with barely any safety features and is less modern now. When purchasing a car always keep account for maintenance records, do a test drive, and inspect the whole car. Good luck on the search for a car and stay safe!
