It's okay, kali. Don't ever feel like you need to apologize for being emotional. It's who we are. A few months after my dad passed, this game came out. He was also cremated, so I immediately felt that connection. Since then, my mom has also passed and was also cremated. It hits hard. As it should.

Gamers who jumped straight to GoW 2018: "He picked up that tree like it's a sack of potatoes??" or "He picked that up like it was nothing??". Ma'am Kali who started from GoW 2005: Seen him picked up, pushed and kicked things that are WAY bigger/heavier than a tree. Because he NEVER skipped leg day. I'm SO glad that you acknowledged Kratos' "slow breathe" as he was trying to calm himself. That's a plus for you for starting the older games before jumping into this game. You emotionally understand Kratos' character development🥲 We already know your gameplay and you'll never let any "loots on the loose". So just one tip: Always explore the area and NEVER let the game tells/pressures you to do what they want you to do or where to go. I'm loving your reaction and already looking forward to the next episode or should i say...this whole series😁

No need to apologize for getting emotional; this is one of the most intensely emotional games ever made. 11:47 I always tear up at this part. Bear McCreary was sadly named after the wrong animal because that man is the GOAT. I hear they recorded all of Kratos's "boy" lines before deciding on Atreus's name, so "boy" was just used as a placeholder. They decided to keep those lines because they emphasized Kratos's emotionally distant relationship with Atreus.

I honestly love that the greek and norse god of war games have different tones, atmosphere, character personalities / art. It kinda matches well with the "real life" greek / nordic mythology in a way in terms of themes, gods, brutality and tragedies. For example the gods in greek myths are immortal / assholes whereas the gods in nordic myth are mroe human / mortal beings. 😀

Omg, it's finally here! I am super excited for this playthrough. They've done Kratos character well. I also LOVE Atreus. His curiosity with the world, the way he interacts with people, but mostly in what he represents, a second chance for Kratos to find his humanity. Atreus is everything to Kratos. I love them so much. I would recommend taking things slow and exploring everything since many things are easily missed or even optional. Definitely exhaust all the dialogue with Brok at his shop by pressing triangle. Some combat tips: when you throw the axe with R1, it is faster and goes further, while R2 is slower but does more damage. Damage the Revenant with an arrow, and then attack them. Spartan rage heals when you attack, so you can save it until you're low on health during a fight. Lastly, you can get everything in the skill tree, so you don't have to be too picky.

We are finally here. The game that introduced me to the series. Ill do the usual and see if I got things to say/add, if not, Im simply gonna say i cannot wait, yet too fear the day we reach the end of this journey. Yes, The cold open from first and foremost the lovely transition straight from the menu screen, straight to the Death of another loved one for Kratos, though, like many things, we can tell this part of his life has become a lot better and healthier, even if still harsh and sad. While He killed his prior one, his wife here lived with him in peace clearly and Died peacefully, loved by him, and Kratos getting to "bury" the person he loved, getting a sense of closur from that. It is a sad yet in the same way happy reality he has reached, which makes it all the more incredible to see, that something like this can have such oppossing emotions to it. I love those small art closets? walls i guess. They are incredibly nice to look at, so much so that they used to be my background. Telling actual folklore. It is rare to have such things transcribed that way. Normally you would have someone tell it outright or some cutscene, but no, here we have it simply be some old art by someone else, you simply find. Ah yes, the Trolls. Literal, not figurative. Get used to these big guys. They are plentiful. The name is simply that and not entirely more descriptive. Not any Lore or story to him. The Strangers seems like a seriously odd sob. Wonder who he is? That much is sure, he is someone that must have a name, and certainly some story as to how the hell he ended up so resiliant and even more so, cocky. Humans went nuts, yes. There is reasons for it. Im baffled they stood up this well to Kratos. Gameplay and all I know, it is funny to think though that Kratos's actual god powers scale in universe as to whom he fights. would be a really cool concept if they went for it. never did, but hey, headcanon all the way. Draugr make for some funny enemies anyway, far more than Humans. Good old Norse Zombies. And unlike other zombies, these guys can use weapons and armor. After all, what fun are zombies if they cant swing weapons about? Brok and his brother... well thats all for now there. Lovely lads. They will help you plenty, both practically and emotionally with some well needed levity.

Hello. I love the way you play and how you understand those small details in the story. I want to give you some tips that can help you improve your way of playing even more. Using your shield is very important especially when it comes to projectiles. You can block any type of projectiles using your shield. It is also very important that you know that you can even block all kinds of rays, whether fire, ice, etc. Just by holding up your shield. You can also block absolutely all of Revenant's poison attacks by holding your shield up at all times and waiting for an opening to counterattack. (Atreus arrows and then you attack). And finally, when you fight a Troll I recommend that you always roll to the left as if making a circle around him and attack especially when you are behind him. Try to memorize their movements so you will know when to roll to the left side or when to move away. I almost forget it. One last tip. When it comes to puzzles, Odin's ravens or fast enemies, I always recommend using the light ax throw because the heavy ax throw is very slow and it will be much more difficult for you to hit your target or solve timed puzzles. I apologize for my English. I speak Spanish and I am using the translator. I am glad to be a new follower of yours as I can clearly see in your eyes that you are a wonderful person. Greetings from Peru.

Hello kali! Thank you for this. Been waiting for this one. Got a few more tips for ya... 1. Again take your time and explore. Note there's gonna be a lot of backtracking, nothing gets left out in this game, but of course sometimes, not all the time though you may need and item or power to do so, you'll see what i mean 😁 You kinda missed out on the last 2 toys from the set lol. The first one was at Kratos house at the side of the wooden gate and the second was kind of inside the old temple, right before you pulled the chain to open the gate there was a big ass Door behind you that leads out to the bridge. 2. Shield Combat: i see you're already getting the hang of the parrying system, but note that when you get a perfect parry, it leaves an opening to do follow up attacks on the enemy, if you don't do a perfect parry, it slows down and leaves you open for getting attack. When you see a yellow/gold circle around the enemy, they're about to do a heavy attack which you still have a chance to parry. If it Red, don't block just dodge or roll out of the way and wait for an opening. The red circle are stronger attacks and can't be blocked and they do a lot of damage. There's also a skill on skill tree that allows you to reflect enemy projectiles and attacks. Its pretty much similar to the golden fleece. 3. Yes Kali break the pots and vases. Come on! If God of War has taught you anything, Its to DESTROY EVERYTHING! 😁 cause it can give you hack silver, health and rage. And lastly....err i believe the kids name is BOY!! Get it right GIRL! 😁😂👍

Nice to see how far you've come kali! I may have not liked this game as much especially after playing the flawless combat perfection that is God of war 3 but this is still good.

Played all the GOW games back in the days. I likely won't ever go back to them, since I don't think they've aged with grace. Kratos himself on the other hand has definitely matured and become a believable protagonist in a complex and moody story. I'm looking forward to seeing more of this playthrough. Your commentary is always interesting and insightful.

From the start you hit off with giving some facts about God of War, one even I didn't know about yet :o) Now I know it's gonna be a great series of videos to watch, because you know Kratos from previous games. I hope one day you'll replay this game with a better setup, because this game is absolutely beautiful in native resolution. You did say you maxed all settings but then put DLSS/FSR on Ultra Performance which means it renders the game at a very low resolution and upscales it to your native resolution. Not trying to sound patronizing but you do know the Quality setting in DLSS/FSR is the best option for graphical fidelity as it only renders it one grade of resolution below your native one (e.g. DLSS Quality at 4K native resolution renders at 1440p before upscaling). In Ultra Performance it renders at 480p and then upscales it to 4K which makes everything super blurry.

this makes me soooo sad knowing I recorded it in crap quality. I thought I had better settings on and my setup is more than capable to handle a better resolution. I'll be more mindful and do more research next time! thank you for pointing it out!

@@kaliwali No problem! Would love to see a list that shows your system specs somewhere in your channel description because this is a gaming channel :D I'm glad it helped, so to reiterate: DLSS/FSR Quality = good graphics only slightly worse than native, decent increase in performance. DLSS/FSR Balanced = ok graphics, better increase in performance. DLSS/FSR Performance = Blurry graphics, a lot better performance. DLSS/FSR Ultra Performance = Really blurry graphics, and a great increase in performance. Ultra Performance is for really bad cards, which means not any RTX 40xx cards :D Unless you try to play GoW in 4K with everything maxed and you have an RTX 2080, this setting might help. Also having DLSS on may also help with aliasing because it upscales a lower resolution render, so you can technically lower the Anti-Aliasing in the game to gain some FPS with minimal loss in fidelity.

Over the past decade I lost my grandma and uncle, both wanted to be cremated and have their ashes spread at the southern most point of Florida in the Ocean because they came from Cuba and wanted to have their ashes returned to a close place to their former home. My dad and I made that Journey back to Miami twice to do this. So this opening hit me hard and got me emotional too. We are all human and we all have emotions. It’s not something to apologize for.

I'm so sorry for your losses. Celebrating life by scattering ashes is very beautiful 🤍

While we did get a cliff hanger at the end of 3, I don’t think we were ever given confirmation this game was even going to happen until the announcement the year/months prior to its release. Also the perspective from players who do or don’t play the original series is night and day and I love your understanding of the story so far

Also fun fact: if you go into photo mode after snapping the strangers neck he’s flipping you off as he falls down the cliff

I started my God of War journey on release day 2005, release order is the way to go imo, this game was worth the wait!

Kratos in GOD 4 is responsible, mature, sensitive, emotional and stronger than ever. People might say or think that old kratos was stronger but the truth is he is now. He uses his head and heart now that's why it looks like he is weaker now but it's better now and i am happy that he has a family now, at least he has his son. By the way I liked your play through a lot. Generally girls play games without giving much attention and during play time they don't use much of the skill even if they upgraded but you did it right and I find your name unique. In our side your name resembles row power and time itself which is the name of goddess Kali. Happy playing 😊

this beginning is chilling, the song and knowing everything that Kratos went through, it's sad that he lost another wife, my best friend, he's friends with the actor who played Atreus, he even has his phone number and everything, I was in shock when he showed me lol
