Welcome to my journey through all of the God Of War games! I decided to start these games in the order they were released in so I can fully deep dive into the lore and grow with the game's development. Somehow I managed to never see/hear/experience anything about these games and I am very excited get lost in the lore and mythology of these gems with you!
"Lo there do I see my mother, Lo there do I see my father, Lo there do I see the line of my people. Lo there do they call to me."
- Atreus
"Your anger... you can get lost in it."
- Kratos
"Close your heart to it. On our journey we will be attacked by all manner of creature. Close your heart to their desperation. Close your heart to their suffering."
- Kratos
"I thought you'd be bigger... but you're definitely the one... long way from home, aren't you?"
- The Stranger
My God Of War Journey:
God Of War I: • My First Time Playing ...
God Of War II: • My First Time Playing ...
God Of War III: • My First Look Into God...

It's okay, kali. Don't ever feel like you need to apologize for being emotional. It's who we are. A few months after my dad passed, this game came out. He was also cremated, so I immediately felt that connection. Since then, my mom has also passed and was also cremated. It hits hard. As it should.

Gamers who jumped straight to GoW 2018: "He picked up that tree like it's a sack of potatoes??" or "He picked that up like it was nothing??". Ma'am Kali who started from GoW 2005: Seen him picked up, pushed and kicked things that are WAY bigger/heavier than a tree. Because he NEVER skipped leg day. I'm SO glad that you acknowledged Kratos' "slow breathe" as he was trying to calm himself. That's a plus for you for starting the older games before jumping into this game. You emotionally understand Kratos' character development🥲 We already know your gameplay and you'll never let any "loots on the loose". So just one tip: Always explore the area and NEVER let the game tells/pressures you to do what they want you to do or where to go. I'm loving your reaction and already looking forward to the next episode or should i say...this whole series😁

I honestly love that the greek and norse god of war games have different tones, atmosphere, character personalities / art. It kinda matches well with the "real life" greek / nordic mythology in a way in terms of themes, gods, brutality and tragedies. For example the gods in greek myths are immortal / assholes whereas the gods in nordic myth are mroe human / mortal beings. 😀

Most of the girls go straight to up to play this game knowing nothing about Kratos, they just think: "Omg what a beautiful father/son game", but it´s more than that. In the finale of GoW 3 you said that you find it difficult to have sympathy for Kratos because he´s an antihero, and that´s the whole point of this gow 2018. Glad you gave it a chance to the previous games. Hope you enjoy this new journey.

Omg, it's finally here! I am super excited for this playthrough. They've done Kratos character well. I also LOVE Atreus. His curiosity with the world, the way he interacts with people, but mostly in what he represents, a second chance for Kratos to find his humanity. Atreus is everything to Kratos. I love them so much. I would recommend taking things slow and exploring everything since many things are easily missed or even optional. Definitely exhaust all the dialogue with Brok at his shop by pressing triangle. Some combat tips: when you throw the axe with R1, it is faster and goes further, while R2 is slower but does more damage. Damage the Revenant with an arrow, and then attack them. Spartan rage heals when you attack, so you can save it until you're low on health during a fight. Lastly, you can get everything in the skill tree, so you don't have to be too picky.

If you want to know what the reaction was like, this game was announced at E3 2016. It opened the Sony conference. It started with just an entire orchestra playing the theme of this game, though we did not know that yet. It was conducted by the one and only Bear McCreary. After the theme ended, the curtain rose and a screen was behind it. Some game footage started to play. It was just a boy. We still did not know what it was. Then we heard, “BOY!”. Immediately chatter started happening in the crowd. A large figure in the shadows talked to the boy. Then Kratos walked out of the shadow. The Crowd at E3 went INSANE. A gameplay showcase played and this game was officially announced. Again, the crowd went crazy. This reveal and announcement became one of the most memorable and iconic in the entire history of E3.

No need to apologize for getting emotional; this is one of the most intensely emotional games ever made. 11:47 I always tear up at this part. Bear McCreary was sadly named after the wrong animal because that man is the GOAT. I hear they recorded all of Kratos's "boy" lines before deciding on Atreus's name, so "boy" was just used as a placeholder. They decided to keep those lines because they emphasized Kratos's emotionally distant relationship with Atreus.

We are finally here. The game that introduced me to the series. Ill do the usual and see if I got things to say/add, if not, Im simply gonna say i cannot wait, yet too fear the day we reach the end of this journey. Yes, The cold open from first and foremost the lovely transition straight from the menu screen, straight to the Death of another loved one for Kratos, though, like many things, we can tell this part of his life has become a lot better and healthier, even if still harsh and sad. While He killed his prior one, his wife here lived with him in peace clearly and Died peacefully, loved by him, and Kratos getting to "bury" the person he loved, getting a sense of closur from that. It is a sad yet in the same way happy reality he has reached, which makes it all the more incredible to see, that something like this can have such oppossing emotions to it. I love those small art closets? walls i guess. They are incredibly nice to look at, so much so that they used to be my background. Telling actual folklore. It is rare to have such things transcribed that way. Normally you would have someone tell it outright or some cutscene, but no, here we have it simply be some old art by someone else, you simply find. Ah yes, the Trolls. Literal, not figurative. Get used to these big guys. They are plentiful. The name is simply that and not entirely more descriptive. Not any Lore or story to him. The Strangers seems like a seriously odd sob. Wonder who he is? That much is sure, he is someone that must have a name, and certainly some story as to how the hell he ended up so resiliant and even more so, cocky. Humans went nuts, yes. There is reasons for it. Im baffled they stood up this well to Kratos. Gameplay and all I know, it is funny to think though that Kratos's actual god powers scale in universe as to whom he fights. would be a really cool concept if they went for it. never did, but hey, headcanon all the way. Draugr make for some funny enemies anyway, far more than Humans. Good old Norse Zombies. And unlike other zombies, these guys can use weapons and armor. After all, what fun are zombies if they cant swing weapons about? Brok and his brother... well thats all for now there. Lovely lads. They will help you plenty, both practically and emotionally with some well needed levity.

Over the past decade I lost my grandma and uncle, both wanted to be cremated and have their ashes spread at the southern most point of Florida in the Ocean because they came from Cuba and wanted to have their ashes returned to a close place to their former home. My dad and I made that Journey back to Miami twice to do this. So this opening hit me hard and got me emotional too. We are all human and we all have emotions. It’s not something to apologize for.

hello and this is me again, a person who talks about mythology (yes, I’m already writing my second comment, I’ll write below why) ok, I just started watching the video and it seems to me that in addition to the main comments, I will also make comments with time stamps to talk about some things. 1:44 Well, I wouldn’t say that this game is loosely based on norse mythology. This game is quite accurate to its original source (norse mythology) and all the changes, unlike the old games, are clearly made specifically for the plot of the game and, frankly speaking, are not as annoying as in old games. 6:58 oh, how could I forget to write about this in my comment. This and the next game are full of scenes on a boat and while you are on the boat there is always a dialogue, but as soon as you swim to land this white button appears, When pressed, the characters climb out of the boat and the dialogue ends and it will not be possible to listen to it in the future. So before pressing the white button, make sure that the dialogue is finished (by the way, this applies not only to the scenes on the boat, but also to other scenes where this button appears) 8:25 I was talking about these scenes, in this scene there was no dialogue but usually there is. By the way, I advise you to swim away from this white button during the dialogue, because I have seen many times how gamers accidentally pressed it. 9:04 oh trust me this is just the beginning, the locations in this game are wonderful. 20:26 I'm very pleased to hear this, I was worried that you wouldn't use the codex. 1:20:09 yes about that, this is one of those plot points that not everyone will understand, for now I’ll just say that everything here is not as it might seem and unfortunately I can only give an explanation for this scene at the end of the game. 1:35:39 I can explain this plot point because there are no spoilers in it, it’s just that Faye knew about Kratos’ past and decided to protect the forest so that they wouldn’t be found. ok, you guessed it yourself, well done By the way, you pronounce the name Atreus incorrectly. You say Arteus instead of Atreus.

I played this game for maybe 12 hours and never finished it. I had a traumatic experience like 5 years ago that did something to my brain. It caused me to not enjoy playing video games as much and it really makes me sad at times because ive been playing since the first Nintendo and really could escape all my childhood trauma as a kid by getting so immersed into the worlds in video games. I used to be able to play games for like 14 hours straight but i can't do that anymore. I play a game every now and then but its got to be really good. I know this game was a masterpiece but i just couldn't find the same joy i once had playing the original trilogy. Ive tried watching other people play this game on here but for whatever reason i couldn't finish. I did watch all your other playthroughs of God of War and was waiting for this one so i could hopefully see the game in its entirety. I love your play style and how emotional and how big of a heart you have for characters and it takes me back to a time when i felt the same way.

This was an amazing playthrough. Typically, I'd come across new playthroughs where creators have no prior knowledge of the previous games, but seeing that you've recently played them beforehand has made me appreciate your reaction so much more. In addition, you have great game sense. You thoroughly examine areas to ensure you didn't miss things, which is great. Keep up the good work. If you need any tips feel free to ask.

Oh kali i forgot, those revenants, witch like enemies... They are really annoying, so what you wanna do is when they turn into that poison cloud , shoot them with the arrows first and then start punching them to build up stun damage and do damage at the same time. Also you might press R3 to lock on to an enemy to make it easier lol. Just be careful not press both L3 and R3 by mistake cause it'll activate Spartan Rage when you don't want to. Believe me that's happen to me many times.😑 The revenants are like the wraiths from the previous games.

"Apparently, Odin has beef with us?" That's the obvious inference, and no doubt what Kratos must have been thinking. We don't have enough info this early in the game to understand the context of the Stranger's arrival. But keep it in mind.

Hello. I love the way you play and how you understand those small details in the story. I want to give you some tips that can help you improve your way of playing even more. Using your shield is very important especially when it comes to projectiles. You can block any type of projectiles using your shield. It is also very important that you know that you can even block all kinds of rays, whether fire, ice, etc. Just by holding up your shield. You can also block absolutely all of Revenant's poison attacks by holding your shield up at all times and waiting for an opening to counterattack. (Atreus arrows and then you attack). And finally, when you fight a Troll I recommend that you always roll to the left as if making a circle around him and attack especially when you are behind him. Try to memorize their movements so you will know when to roll to the left side or when to move away. I almost forget it. One last tip. When it comes to puzzles, Odin's ravens or fast enemies, I always recommend using the light ax throw because the heavy ax throw is very slow and it will be much more difficult for you to hit your target or solve timed puzzles. I apologize for my English. I speak Spanish and I am using the translator. I am glad to be a new follower of yours as I can clearly see in your eyes that you are a wonderful person. Greetings from Peru.

"Kratos is being a pretty good dad." It's interesting to see the difference in reaction to this scene between players familiar with the earlier games and those who play this game first. New GoW players comment on how harsh, blunt, and strict Kratos is. Some wonder if Atreus is his biological son. Those more familiar with the character recognize that Kratos has mellowed quite a bit, and that he deeply cares for Atreus.

Hello kali! Thank you for this. Been waiting for this one. Got a few more tips for ya... 1. Again take your time and explore. Note there's gonna be a lot of backtracking, nothing gets left out in this game, but of course sometimes, not all the time though you may need and item or power to do so, you'll see what i mean 😁 You kinda missed out on the last 2 toys from the set lol. The first one was at Kratos house at the side of the wooden gate and the second was kind of inside the old temple, right before you pulled the chain to open the gate there was a big ass Door behind you that leads out to the bridge. 2. Shield Combat: i see you're already getting the hang of the parrying system, but note that when you get a perfect parry, it leaves an opening to do follow up attacks on the enemy, if you don't do a perfect parry, it slows down and leaves you open for getting attack. When you see a yellow/gold circle around the enemy, they're about to do a heavy attack which you still have a chance to parry. If it Red, don't block just dodge or roll out of the way and wait for an opening. The red circle are stronger attacks and can't be blocked and they do a lot of damage. There's also a skill on skill tree that allows you to reflect enemy projectiles and attacks. Its pretty much similar to the golden fleece. 3. Yes Kali break the pots and vases. Come on! If God of War has taught you anything, Its to DESTROY EVERYTHING! 😁 cause it can give you hack silver, health and rage. And lastly....err i believe the kids name is BOY!! Get it right GIRL! 😁😂👍

Hi, I am the same person who told you about the mythology in the original games of the god of war. now the time has come for the god of war 2018 and in the last comments I said that now my comments will change a lot. and everything will really change a lot, firstly now in my comments, there will be much less information about mythology, now I’ll tell you why. The thing is that the new trilogy has a different approach to mythology than the old trilogy. in previous games, knowledge of mythology essentially doesn’t spoil anything for you, well, except for Pandora’s Box, of course, while in new games, your knowledge of mythology can greatly spoil the game, since these games are much more based on mythology and the vast majority of plot twists are taken literally from mythology. I can give you an example from the old trilogy about Pandora's Box:in the first part of God of War, Pandora's Box is described as a box that contains the power to kill God, but people familiar with mythology know that inside Pandora's Box there is all evil and hope. And in God of War 3, it became known that inside Pandora's Box is really evil, but again, people familiar with mythology know that in addition to evil, there is also hope in the box, especially considering all the hints that the game gave. Well, and secondly, the game itself told almost the entire mythology, so I have almost nothing to talk about.Oh I almost forgot now I won't write facts either. So what, I’ll write in the comments? Well, firstly, this game is full of plot points that are not clear to everyone. And secondly, this game is FULL of additional dialogues, collectibles, additional quests and a bunch of other things that are easy to miss, this is what I’m going to talk about in the comments. Now let's talk about the plot (without spoilers). Firstly, now the events take place in Norse mythology. You may know this mythology from the films about Thor. Secondly, Kratos has a son, Atreus.Speaking of Kratos, how did he survive? Well, thanks to the official novelization of the God of War 2018, it became known that the gods cursed Kratos so that he could not die by his own hands, since he had tried to do this many times before. They also placed another curse on him which will be revealed later in the game, but if you've read the comics you already know what this curse is.I can’t say anything about Atreus yet, nor about his mother. But about the stranger, I can only say one thing, of course his name is not a stranger, but I can’t say his real name yet, and unfortunately, from the experience of other KZbinrs who went through the God of War, I can assume that there is at least one person in the comments who will spoil who the stranger is😭. especially considering that the first episode will be in the premiere format. As for that troll boss, well, he’s not in mythology like most of the other bosses in this game, so I’ll just ignore them. I’d also like to talk about one thing that wasn’t mentioned in the game (at least I haven’t seen this mentioned anywhere)this is that the gods in norse mythology are actually mortal (well, except for the stranger), the only thing they cannot die from is old age, and then only if they eat idunn apples, which we collect in this game to increase health.Brok is a character from norse mythology and, again, I can’t tell you what his role in mythology is because that will be said later in the game. and lastly, I want to say please do not look at Wikipedia about the god of war because in this game there are a lot of plot twists related to the characters. I will try to give you all the necessary information.

I JUST finished the others and caught up to here (was hospitalized for a few weeks with no phone), but haven't started the vid yet. I just want to acknowledge that seeing you play through the older games was phenomenal! Not only do I like that you focus on little details, that sometimes enlightens me, but you hold a lot of empathy, which many people lack. I see that it helps you understand characters better in these video games you play, and makes your responses very valuable. At least to me. Now, to watch your journey of Kratos' new journey

This game and Ragnarok were so well made, there's a reason they won so many awards. Little hints...1. Throw your Axe more 2. Take your time and look everywhere in every direction and 3. Look for yellow markings on some of the giant enemies, those are throw points for your Axe. Keep going!

When you finish this game there is a documentary on KZbin called "Raising Kratos" that you should definitely watch. It's a documentary about the making of this game. Also, since I don't know how far ahead you have played in this game already, there is a "secret" or true ending after the main story is finished. Once you've completed the main story, go back to Kratos and Atreus' house, go inside and have Kratos lay on the bed. That will trigger the ending, and then after the credits roll there will be some dialog between Kratos and Atreus that will explain that scene a bit more.

I played this in 2018. After finishing it I looked at the earlier ones. They looked too old so I passed on them. But after watching you play them I can appreciate why fans prefer the old ones. The newer ones are too focused on story than action. But I can respect both. What I like seeing in the old ones is the camera perspective. These newer ones are too close. I only play 3rd person games and I want to at the very least be able to see the character’s feet. I can write volumes on why. And I’ve been disappointed with every 1st person game ever since my first 3rd person game explains part of why. Horizon Forbidden West just came out on PC. The first thing I did was open the FOV to its widest.

The E3 demo of this game was when it was first revealed, which was basically an altered version of the deer hunt here. And seeing those moments there, Kratos getting angry at Atreus but then visibly holding back and calming himself down, Kratos reaching over to comfort his son - unseen by Atreus - but hesitating and switching over to the knife last minute, very quickly caught my interest. It was a whole new light to see Kratos in and demonstrated him being someone with self-awareness, self-doubt and self-control. I felt this depth to him pouring off the screen that I'd never been convinced of beforehand. And that was what led to me buying and playing my first God of War game. The soundtrack certainly didn't hurt either!
