I read an eARC of Mister Magic and also loved it! I kept thinking how cool it would be if fans of the book made something for it like "Mister Magic Found Footage Ep 1" lost media videos and posted them to KZbin.

I read Burn the Negative. I thought it was ok but I thought the climax was too chaotic and I sat there thinking, “no one would notice this??” So I gave it to my library. The last word is on my tbr and I may go grab Mr. Magic. It’s been on and off my tbr. So we’ll see.

@@JayCee3313 Marianne on Netflix has liminal horror vibes. Brand New Cherry Flavor also on Netflix is by the makers of Channel Zero. Kane Pixels Under the Earth series on youtube is amazing. He did the backrooms series on yt.

Your feelings on Burn the Negative completely mirror mine. Loved the concept, was very much interested in the movie itself and the relationship with the mom, but as you said it just was a bit meh. Mister Magic is on my to read list and I can't wait to get my hands on it. Currently I'm reading The Island by Natasha Preston which is about a group of young influencers ending up on an island resort for the rich and they're going to end up in a fight for survival. It's a ya horror. I just started it so I'm not very far in yet but it's interesting for the moment. Next up is Silver Nitrate by Silvia Moreno-Garcia which I've been waiting for forever. I should finish it by the time my hold on Mister Magic is available (cannot wait). Love it when you do your horror book roundups. I had not heard about the Kill Yer Pumpkins but it is now on my radar. Great video, Mandy! Have a great rest of your week!

Love his books. Loved No Exit last year. Read his newest book this summer and enjoyed it. It was The Last Word.I finished both books in two days.

I just finished Mister Magic and really enjoyed it. Funny enough I think the second half was a lot stronger just because so many of my questions were answered and my guesses paid off

I just finished Burn the Negative thought it was interesting concept had some structural flaws but a overall fun story. I had purchased Mister Magic while reading Burn the negative and I started reading tonight, Candle Cove is one of my favorite creepy pasta stories so I am totally stocked to get deeper in this book.

i dont know if you read this one Mandy but if you like short horror stories get Darcey Coates "small Horrors" each story (50 of them) is only a few pages long but everyone of them were good

Well crud, I just got Burn the Negative. Now I'm not in a hurry to read it. 😆 Mister Magic sounded really good and the cover is awesome! I did not like Hide. I really wanted to, but it did not turn out to be a good fit for me. I'm hesitant on this one.

I honestly did have fun with Burn the Negative for the most part and do think it’s worth picking up! I think I just had diff expectations.

love taylor adams's novels. you might like our last night, his 2nd novel. it's kinda horror with a haunted rifle that chases a man through time with his deceased fiance. some gross imagery, but a great thriller.
