Actually, it's not the first. Try Googling 'Cockburn Holdsworth Odyssey' - it was from around 1998 and I think they built seven. Great idea but the upstairs bedroom was too small.

great kit , i think the motorhome manufactures have priced most people out of the market ,with silly prices , one day hopefully they will land and return back to earth . its a strategy based on sell less make more, in the USA is the opposite with a much wider range and better value. Van conversions will continue to grow and develop ,this van would be relatively easy to copy , with a more basic roof system , everything is possible

Just think of the investment Hymer has made here, which needs to be recouped from a low-volume production run. Yes, prices have shot up, much of that due to chassis costs - so blame Fiat, etc. Look at car prices (and everything from electricity to food) - it all costs a lot more in 2023.

I've done nothing but look at motorhomes for the last month or so as I start researching our retirement upgrade, and have stumbled on your reviews. They're absolutely top notch Peter and you're already my goto guy! One thing I've realised from watching your videos is that the layout we want (U shaped lounge with no fixed bed) is an old fashioned british layout and one I'm struggling to find, especially as I want a drop down bed so as not to have to make up the bed every night. Looks like they don't exist, can you persuade the manufacturers to start making them for 2025 please? 😆
