Lol I feel like this video should be titled "All the seeds you can direct sow in April IN MICHIGAN" cause I'm listening to Luke listing out all these crops that don't like temperatures above the 70's and meanwhile here in Texas we started getting days in the 80's like a month ago. I guess for us these should be planted in, like, December.

You should start out by saying that this advice is for your garden zone, because many newbie gardeners will see this and not realize that you have to plant in their season. Where I am (9b), there's very few things I can plant now. But I love your tip about the cross board!

I’d make sure your board is as wide as the widest raised bed but also hope your sides are sturdy enough to support your board and weight. Oh and definitely alternate which cheek you sit on/which way you are leaning to sow/work the soil. Otherwise you might become unbalanced in your core and have a bad back or a tight hip flexor/ab muscles.

Don’t put all your eggs in one basket…if you need to buy more seed or even resort to buying the plants already germinated and growing do so! The end result justifies whichever method you had to take to get there. There no need to be precious about having done it all from scratch, you likely have plenty more growing seasons to come to perfect your methods and learn from your mistakes.

For your board, add some foam padding and outdoor fabric and have a much softer seat. Flip it over to the wood side if you're walking on it. Are your raised beds made of Cedar? We made raised flowerbeds out of treated pine posts and they're rotting after about 10 years. It's time to replace them so I'm curious if cedar lasts longer.

Brassicas and pole beans go in with my sweet corn first week of May. I have one bed 4x12 of Astronomy domine sweet corn. Best sweet corn I have ever grown. Our peas were planted mid April. First week of May on sweet corn to catch rain or snow in weeks after. Or too muddy and wet for it later in May many years.

I bought good quality seeds (MiGardener), I soaked the seeds for 10 hours then planted them into seed starter cells. They've been in my indoor greenhouse tent under grow lights since. (I think they take 2 weeks to germinate?) But how & when do I plantvthem outside? I live in Indiana. Also, PLEASE create a video of bringing out the pepper plants we over-winterized. Detroit Beet seeds as well went in as maybe more risky Cilantro that looks like is starting, or was starting, to pop up out of the ground. Amazingly, here over in SW Mi all my Asparagus came up other than the Purple Passion. I'm surprised you don't have any garden fencing. I live in the suburbs and for some reason we've had a rabbit explosion which is very frustrating because they nibble on everything. I even have to put 1/4 in hardware cloth around my fruit trees. What's your opinion on those corrugated raised beds? I was thinking of getting one because wood is expensive at about $25 for 2X12X8 pressure treated boards at my local HD. The metal raised beds are also higher so the rabbits can't get in.

Hello, thank you for this video. I do have a question regarding the temperature when planting. I live in Central Illinois and the temperature this weekend is high in the 40’s/low 50’s during the day, but mid to low 30’s at night. May is still plant the cold weather veggies? Should I put a frost cover on the bed for the overnight hours? Your videos are very informative.
