In English, some words fit together while some don't. This is called collocation. For example, I can speak, I work all the time but I cannot speak, I work all the day. The second sentence does not need the 'the' article. This is quite confusing and requires memorization. 'all the time' and 'all-time' have very different meanings. For example, I work all the time. In this sentence, 'all the time' plays the function of the adverb. My all-time favorite film is Gone With the Wind. In this sentence, 'all-time' is an adjective, it means best. Thank you, teacher, for these advanced vocabulary.
