The square wave driven, no-transformer voltage doubler can be a tripler, quadrupler, as much as you want with no theoretical limit, just the practical limit of what your parts can handle. All you do is stack them one after the other, like amplifier or filter stages. The more you stack, the higher your voltage goes, but the lower the load you can drive with it: Welcome to P=V*I!

Couldn't you run the 10v to another pnp transistor and resistor and drive that transistor from the timer? That would double each stage instead of adding just 5v.

So, good sir. I have a 72v-84v 150A max dc supply. I want to power a 140-168 sign wave dc input controller. With ebikes and electric motors. Rpm is dictated by the Voltage and torque is dictated by amperage at that Voltage. I want to "step up" or "amplify " my Vin via this doubler concept. I have VERY large ultracapacitors. 2.8v 3v max 3000f. The cap bank that I have made that matches my Lipos V. Is 30 of these caps. And makes the bank 100F. My question is this. How would I use this doubler to double 72-84v..... to fill my cap bank to a higher voltage. I have more caps. I was trying to use a boost circuit. But its just so damn complicated at such large wattages. Seeing what you have here. If I could use this doubler I think it would work. Any help would be great;)

...Oh my freakin' God... Please let me explain: What I mean to say, simply put, is- I use the interweb for education- as would any thinking person. I subscribe only to scientific/technical channels and Watch* these almost exclusively... keeping abreast of world events is not included in this tally; that would be off my subject. ...trying to articulate... simply put: I am familiar with most of the major electrical engineering (and surrounding stuff and things around) channels; yet, or should I say, uh... hmm... let I (pu-lease already)... put it simply: why the hell has the algorithm not thrown your channel at me earlier? I do not know... nor is it/that the major concern at this moment. More of a concern is that I'ma gwineter havta catch up on... well, you've got some videos. I've seen three just now (stupid algorithm) and because of reasons and circumstances... and the urge to make things cooler than they would have been otherwise, you will be hearing from me again soon. I think I need to show you something. first things first though... F^(^^^^)@#: I'm looking at a list of your videos and I can tell just by the expression on your face, that... I almost remembered the definition of the word inspiring... almost. Or it might have been some other word beginning with "i". "unique" individuals like possibly yourself are responsible for much of my daily reason for carrying on with the important things... and as such: I'll just put my money where my mouth is... as an attempt to aid in the achievement of that most critical goal; wherein: everyone has fun. ...On a good day. Peace be upon you, sir. *Why the hell does the voiceprint algorithm capitalize shit like the word "watched"? Oh, that's funny: It didn't that time. What an idiot... It is. p@s; Oh yeah: hey man- That Is a winning beard. and I mean blue ribbon. I don't know if it's quite as [Insert favorite adjective here] as big clives' tri-color arrangement, but it's (that's?)a bit subjective and subject to change without notice... and could depend on who smoked what, technically.

Damn! The most satisfying part is seeing the line drop as the capacitors discharge! I was impatient thinking to myself 'When will it fall'.

I wonder how super capacitors would affect the circuit. More dangerous I'm sure, but perhaps the ability to run a larger load.

More capacitance means greater loads can be driven, but you have to be able to fill that capacitance fast enough, because more capacitance equals more current to charge to the same voltage. And remember it's driven by a square wave, so you've got only half a wave to charge one capacitor and half a wave to charge the other.

another little trick that will come in handy in the future!! P.S. have you ever seen the YT channel Kasyan TV??? he has some awesome projects for people who know electronics and hundreds of useful stuff to build!! you should check it out if you haven't seen it before!!!

Curious ... could you use this to boost the output of an audio signal?
@keithking1985
@keithking1985 4 жыл бұрын
id like to know that too!! just check out the schematic again and it is amplifying a square wave signals voltage!! so id think it could..
@simplyput2796
@simplyput2796 4 жыл бұрын
You would use this to increase the rail voltage / headroom of an amplifier (like an op amp, common emitter, or whatever) and then you could feed the signal through the boosted amplifier...but only the signal. You could not use this to actually drive a speaker unless the speaker wanted milliwatts.
