I find it strange in Elden Ring how the normal rats make roar like monstrous sounds but the Madness Rats make actual rat noises with it's squeaking.

I always interpreted the squeaking as the faint sort of "screaming" noise from fire. It paints a pretty grim picture of the imprisoned nomads... Trapped beneath the city, their eyes hollowed by madness, with only the squeaking and gnawing of rats...

@@a.r.h9919 There's definitely some Lovecraft inspiration going on with Frenzied Flame, that's for sure. It reminds me of the Colour out of Space, an entity that draws all who observe it into singularity before taking off into the sky. There's also the Rats in the Walls, a story in which a man troubled by the scratching of rodents within his old family's estate discovers an entire citadel beneath the house, where his ancestors imprisoned humans to use as livestock. This drives him mad, and he begins to eat his colleague, claiming later it was the rats that devoured him.

ER really only had to sacrifice enviroment detail in buildings at open fields because of the bigger distances and all the grass and trees wich are very expensive,and the minidungeons because theres simply not enough manpower,i also think blackflame looked better in DS3 but that just a design problem.
