when i heard about the RE1 GBC version i searched more info about it, the game didnt release because the workstations was capable to running it, but the commercial GBC no, so instead they release RE gaiden ... I remember earlier versions of RE2's 1.5 version, known as 1.02 and was shown at a tradeshow. It was a very rough version where Leon was just a retexture of Chris and Elza was missing her ponytail and looked bald. The beginning area for Elza (5:08) was one of the first areas developed actually, dating just a few months after RE1.

I used to have a game for my game boy advance called pelicamel . It was a a hybrid animal , being of course a pelican and a camel mixed together. That was definitely the best out of all the games I had for that thing. And I had alot. I remember my friends and myself would trade pogs, slammers, and gigapets for game boy advance games. I had about 80 gba carts when I left tha game. But I spent the most time playing pelicamel, it's just so cool the way they mixed a pelican , and a camel, into the same thing. How can I even begin to explain this game ... Well, you start out with NOTHING. Frickin NOTHING man, ... They put you on this weird treadmill and you can't really escape it. It's like a big circle treadmill. This goes on forever if you let it.

Jason McNulty imo 3.5 could had worked with the ghosts being illusions and having the player second guess what’s real and not real since Leon was infected being the plot. I'm glad many of these footage exist. A fantastic series and it's impressive with what they did on the gameboy colour and besides when the zombies are on their knees and all lets not forget they never released and probably never managed to finish the game. The guys and people who worked on Resident evil 2 and 4 were amazing. They literally were perfectionist and I'm glad they did what they did because they brought out master piece after their iterations. Resident evil 2 was almost done and completed before they scrapped it and started at the start again. I don't know about anyone else but if a game is almost done it can be very heart breaking because you spent all that time and yes while you get paid but after all the effort it was going in the bin to make it many folds better. Resident evil 4 I think had like 4 different creations. Talk about perfecting a game and it really came out as something truly amazing. I don't know about anyone else but I once made a Nintendo DS homebrew game for my dissertation and it was just a very simple game and it broke me. I finished it and it worked but it took me a lot of time and effort to have it done properly the programming was the worse nightmare. So having a big game almost completed then to say to scrap it, would be very daunting. But these guys don't mess around they're here to try and bring the best out and took the experience to make something truly worthy of being released.

RE GBC - Shame it was cancelled, a neat, ambitious port to be sure. RE 0.5 - Also interesting, but it doesn't look too much different and I'm happy with the way the final game turned out. RE 1.5 - Honestly doesn't look as good as how RE2 came out, but it would have been interesting anyway. RE2 GBA - Could use some work with the movement speed and animations, but damn it's impressive. RE 0 - Would have been really cool, the GameCube version is still really good though. RE 3.5 - This is the one game I kinda wish we would have gotten instead of the final, final game was still really good though. RE Portable - Supposedly this was shifted to the 3DS and reworked into RE Revelations (or possibly Mercenaries 3D). RE5 - Also think this would have been better than the final game in some ways, the co-op is fun but the way it's shoehorned into the design compromises a lot of the more potentially interesting game elements that they were going for earlier in development. RE Revelations - I wouldn't doubt if this started development on the PSP originally before Nintendo poached it. RE7 - Really bizarre how the scenarios and levels were conceived with crude, goofy visuals before they began development proper. I'm sure this is a common practice but it's funny to see it in action.

It's really neat that they could get the Game Boy Color to do that much, yeah. I'm guessing the biggest reason they never released it is that there wasn't enough room on the cartridge to fit all of the art assets they needed. Even at a low resolution like that, that's still a ton of backgrounds and sprites, probably more than you can reasonably expect one GBC cart to hold.

@@generalissimustg810 Mold in RE7 seems to be their ticket to both! I've always loved Silent Hill and RE, but I agree, supernatural just wasn't part of the old RE universe. I feel they played Silent Hill and really liked it (nothing wrong there) and to me Evil Within is a perfect tribute to all the horror games they've inspired as well as enjoyed. I love supernatural stuff too, but sometimes I just want my zombies to be regular zombies! They don't need to be parasites, trippy spores, half robots, or half jackets.

re 1.5 really is one of the most interesting unreleased games.i heard that i was already almost finished when they cancelled it and tried to make a different re. so many cool things can be seen there, like the chem factory. lots of assets were reused in re2 and dino crisis. what i didn't know however was, that capcom thought about publishing re zero for nintendo 64 =O. this console was stronger than the ps1 back then. who knows... maybe with that graphic look the game would've been better than the released gamecube version (retro feeling is tough to beat). btw. wasn't there no re 3 beta or experimental version of some sorts? would love to see that.

RE3 haven't changed at all. But yeah! RE 1.5 has really cool elements.

Lemme kno ur thoughts but Mann.... came down to the comments to see if anyone else thought that the RE 1 (.5) actually seemed to look better than the OG? The prerendered BG's look great. Seems higher res n the actual characters look smoothers (less jaggies)🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ idk, I'm only 3:53 in do I'll see more!🤘 lemme kno ur thoughts!

This might be a strange thing to think but I've always wondered....why is the table not in the dining room in the GBC RE? I mean, I understand it's unfinished, but I would have thought the table would just form part of the background image of the room, so it would be there even if the collision detection wasnt yet implemented (ie the player model would just walk straight through it) . So would this be an intentional decision to save resources, and if so why? I don't know it bothers me. But I wanna know . I need answers, dammit XD
