Isayama loves making characters contradict themselves when they're facing death. Like how Bertholdt was crying to his "friends" for help while he was talking all that cool shit just a moment ago. Mike saying "as long as we keep fighting, we haven't lost yet!" yet crying like a mf when he was getting eaten. The fat military dude who was trying to push Grisha off the wall was talking some shit about how the world is cruel, how he's prepared for the day he dies because he already witnessed so much cruelty, but was again, crying like a bitch when getting eaten by a titan. There are more examples but you get the gist. Same here with Carla, obviously as a mother she would want her child to survive. But she's also a human being, and human beings are selfish. That's why she had to cover her mouth when saying "don't leave...", it's not something a mother is supposed to say, but she's also just a human. Who the hell would want a gruesome AND lonely death? It's little things like these that makes AOT such a great show. So many small details to appreciate.

0:28 - This is the moment that I knew this is the best anime ever made. The sudden change in the psyche of Karla is absolute perfection. This is EXACTLY how a mother acts. Safety of Eren meant a world to her, she loved him more than anything in the world, so it was the most important thing in her mind. But once he is saved and she says her goodbye, she suddenly realizes she is about to be murdered and eaten by a giant monster, and she starts crying and begging their children to come back and save her, like any normal person would. The voice acting, the tension, the character and world building, the animation, the music - it's all 10/10. As haunting and horrifying as this scene is, it's absolute perfection. And show only gets better with every episode. Absolutely amazing. No wonder it's considered to be in the top 3 best tv series ever produced, alongside Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones. It really deserves the recognition it gets.

It really didn't. Armin obviously doesn't mean man-kind in general, they had no idea people outside the walls existed. What he meant is "he isn't the enemy of man-kind IN THE WALLS". And that much remained true to the very end. Putting aside what Eren did to the entire world, he saved all Paradis and people within the walls from War and on top of that, also saved them from curse of Ymir. Eren did not destroy humanity within the walls, he really saved it, and "destroyed" all titans like he said he would. He had to become a world destroying, genocidal devil to achieve it, but he delivered on all of his promises.

If there are any other merits to the extra pages, I’m not seeing them.

3:30 They always say Titans can’t transform in enclosed or confined spaces. Eren transforming inside of another Titan really makes this moment shine for me. His rage combined with the fact that there was no transformation lightning make me feel like Eren activated his first transformation with sheer will. Without Ymir’s help. You can really feel the embodiment of the rage and suffering in his first strike against the Titans who showed him how cruel the world really was.

Actually, Titans can't transform in confined spaces because the "normal" definition of a confined space in the AoT verse is like a well, or a cave, which are usually made out of concrete or rocks. Eren in this moment was inside a Titan's stomach, which is not made out of concrete or rocks, which meant he could just get the hell out of there. Also, how do you know there's not a lightning? There doesn't just need to be a bolt coming down from the heavens to make him transform, in his first fight with Annie, we just saw yellow lightning enveloping him and then he transformed instead of the fancy bolt of lightning to the sound of at'aek on titan.
