Starcraft for some reason is my favorite universe to base fanfics in. The game's music and aesthetics is just the best for conveying the cold dark desolation of space and danger lurking just out of sight. That's why I always enjoyed fanmade content for Starcraft more than for stuff like Star Wars, Star Trek and what have you. References to 80s action movies like Aliens are a nice touch also

@@SaturnineXTS it's a bit complicated, Warhammer originally was called "Rogue Trader" and was a lot more like a tabletop version of Firefly. The modern version with Space Marines, Tyranids and Space Wizard elves came out around the same time as SC1

Went from playing N64 and PlayStation games as a kid, to playing Starcraft on the computer and it just blew my mind away, game was brand new at the time and already felt timeless, like a masterpiece. I wonder what was the reason to lighten the Zergs in Sc2. Even the soundtrack feels so menacing and uneasy to be around. Combining with terrifying sounds of Mutas and Hydras it was a total nightmare.

Yeah, that's definitely a big change. I think one obvious reason is that they wanted to go in the direction of Kerrigan becoming good again. But still, they could have done that without making the zerg less nightmarish.

I've come to the conclusion that Kerrigan should have died at the end of Wings of Liberty. Heart of the Swarm could have been dealing with the aftermath of her death with the broodmothers fighting for domination of the swarm and also wreaking havoc among the galaxy rather than Kerrigan humanising them and going on a vengeance quest. Legacy of the Void would deal with the Protoss trying to survive in the "Doomed" timeline where Kerrigan died.

Yeah, the only good faction in SC1 was the protoss. Raynor was kinda neutral, he had to stick with Fenix and others because he had nowhere else to go at that moment. The Confederacy and the Dominion were equally evil, the UED was a dictatorship, and the Zerg..well the Zerg were the ultimate evil in the 1st game. Overmind had almost destroyed the protoss, and Kerrigan outplayed everyone in the end. She took advantage of everone's weaknesses, not only betraying but also mocking them.

People speak as if the Protoss and Raynor's raiders will survive the Hybrids that Duran made... In The 3rd Episode of SC II with Kerrigan gone, i guess Amon will wipe out the entire universe of Starcraft, if brood war ended with The Queen of Blades betraying and ruling everything, to dying in Wings, this could turn out to be worse... And actually a little better. If you're a big fan of grimdark. Kerrigan becoming a space goddess, or Amon and Duran wiping out the Universe. I wonder which was, or could've been better... Nah, my ending would be Kerry raping Raynor and she'd lay infested terrans from the eggs she lays. And she eats Ouros and Duran to beat the Toss, and any armies dat get in her way. Best hen tie anime ending, ever. She deserves to be punished, but we must admit that most of the fandom and creators are simps. I've noticed this everywhere I look.. I think that the 90's were just a time in which everything that had been standing as the institution of the era was being challenged for the first time.. the uh .. very forced psuedo-moral narrative of wholesome values was being assaulted outright in all of the art and music of the time. People were not afraid to push the envelope and offend or test the comfort zones of others.. also doing so, was not constantly at the risk and expense of your entire livelihood, if infact you were in charge of artistic conceptual art, music, and writing. Blizzard was such an amazing company of artists and creators back then and I still remember watching a friend play StarCraft: Brood War for the first time and being absolutely captivated by the creatures and this very music and ambiance. This was true also for Blizzards other titles. They were dreamlike and shocking to the point they all were unbelievably immersive in every way. They have had a permanent and lasting effect on all of those, myself included, who were there to see so much creative genius unfurl in a time nothing remotely like it has ever been seen. Nothing of it's kind seen since as well unfortunately. I'll try to cap this off.. In my opinion.. it seems like the 'Art' of the times reflects quite accurately, how abysmally low quality the collective narrative has become in contemporary America and abroad. The artist has become reluctant to challenge the narrative.. no longer creating art.. but instead propaganda.
