I have often heard the saying 'it is better to have loved and lost, than to never been loved at all'. I have always thought what happened to George and Anselmo was the most cruel situation of all pertaining to this. I have often pondered how different George's life would have been if Anselmo had not died. Imaging what George went through at this loss makes me resort to tears. I feel for his mother not having known the happiness George was experiencing and the crippling pain he was going through until after Anselmo passed. I love how his cousin told details of their story I have never heard before. What a heartbreaking story. I guess the only solance which can be taken from this is how George and Anselmo are together now as well as his mother, so she can witness their happiness.

He wrote the letter to both Parents Jack to this day has kept the letter that George wrote after Anselmo passed away and also a friend of Anselmo named Lucia is the one who broke the tragic news about Anselmo's sudden death Andros will say he did it is another one of his lies George was in LA while Anselmo was in Brazil having a treatment procedure he chose to not get treated in the UK or America To protect George from the media and he died during that procedure George chose to skip the funeral as to not take attention away from Anselmo and his family that is so selfless he did go to Brazil days later where he finally met Anselmo's mother and she gave him a ring that he never took off and he and the mother remained close with George visiting her as much as he could right to the day he passed away I think she is still alive or was before he died not sure I do know You Have Been Loved is about her

@@aprilgosa5779 Some things you said weren't factual. Lucia was in Brazil with Anselmo's family when he passed. She phoned George's home and Andros was there and did answer the phone. She told Andros about Anselmo and he told George it was she on the line and with the news of his passing. Andros told the truth about that. George did speak with Lucia after Andros told him the news, but he was told initially by him first. Alice passed away in 1997, Anselmo's mother, years before George did, 4 years after her son.

@betagombar9022 Yes That Is How It Happened Andros is just trying to play the Hero when the truth is He Is The Villain and George cut all contact with Andros back in 1998 due to Andros selling false accusations and stories to the tabloids he even sold a picture of Lesley to the tabloids and when George died he was the first one to spread a false story that George died from a overdose of Heroin or Crack and To This Day He Hasn't recanted and apologized the family deserves that much!

He'd say he didn't lie yet he did and you could prove it. We never understood why unless it was the drugs and alcohol affecting his mind so much. At the time he said he built up his nerve to tell them, AIDS was raging and he knew that if his mother knew he was gay, that she would worry about him all the time and he didn't want to to that to her; yes, there was consideration for work reasons but his friends and one of his sisters knew from the time he was like 19 years old and he and Anselmo used to hold hands when they went out; he just never announced it to the media. But, he felt that when Anselmo died, he needed his parents, I think probably his mother even more, to know. He said she was so heartbroken for him that he had lived with the fear of losing Anselmo for so long and nobody knew because Anselmo had made him promise not tell anyone he had AIDS. This was a tragedy played out nearly every single day here in NYC for years with people dying of AIDS before, finally in the mid-90s drugs to manage HIV were made available - but it was a good 10 years of pure terror for so many people.

@@Onix.2024 I can not understand why people get so upset when HIV is mentioned as a cause of death, and hide it. This is an illness like any other. Some people die of cancer, heart disease, AIDS, etc. GM (if HIV+) had all the medications necessary to stop its progress, and if he died of AIDS, he may have chosen so. If you take your medication, you will be healthy for your entire life, dying of any other illness.

I have never seen an interview with his cousin. This is pretty much the story we have heard for years. It's nice to know with all the garbage that's out there about George what is actually true. I did not know George's cousin was living with him at the time so I am very happy to hear that at least he was not alone when this happened as obviously it was bad enough to begin with. No, that never would have happened. He was dead set against marriage and having children. He would not have stayed with Anselmo anymore than he did Kenny. Anselmo was his first love and that is why he was special. He died and their relationship ended and that was also a reason why he was special but it would not have lasted. He was not faithful to Anselmo either. Sad he couldn't even try.

He did countless of voluntary things for homeless people, driving around Christmas time giving them food, working at shelters, gave away huge parts of his fortune to charities, and his sister who inherited the fortune then continued spending that fortune on good causes.
