D colony very nice video but do the feeders breed enough?
@Dcolony Жыл бұрын
Yes they do buddy, they breed so much that my mature ant colonies who's eating too much can't even affect their population.

Hey I don't have any reptile centre here so I can't buy these crickets and cockroaches so can you make a video on how to catch wild crickets and cockroaches and prevent diseases and mites spreading in their colony which can harm the ants
@Dcolony3 жыл бұрын
Im sorry buddy but im not sure if i would make a video about that, but i heard they used to quarantine if insects are from the wild.

I once saw a video of ants Canada making a more natural enclosure for his dubia roaches recreating their natural environment. The main reason was so they would be healthier and thus better quality for his ant colonies. Have you ever considered doing that for any of your feeders?
@Dcolony10 ай бұрын
Nope buddy, as that would require more work on keeping them clean. I'm always busy so I'd love the easier way of raising them for my ants.
@TheSandwhichman10810 ай бұрын
@@Dcolony You could turn the roach waste into compost. Just get a bin and some decomposers and you have a steady supply of natural fertilizer free of chemicals. You could use it for future projects. Plus you could probably sell it to farmers or gardeners as a cheap fertilizer and make a bit of extra money since I imagine taking care of your ants is gonna get more and more expensive as the colony grows.
@Dcolony9 ай бұрын
I can't do that buddy, I have buffalo Beatles/larvaes on every feeders colony that I have to prevent mites infestation. It would be pain to separate them from the waste products. I burn it after collecting I use it as fertilizer as they don't really generate that much.
@Dcolony9 ай бұрын
I only spend a few minutes on maintaining them clean in my own way buddy, check this previous vid about my feeders kzbin.info/www/bejne/o6qQe6inhZate8U

D colony, the colony of ''pharaoh ants'' you have might be trailing destructor ants because the males are orange not black and the queens are long and they do not come out to feed with the workers and the workers are not monomorphic ,but I might be wrong
@Dcolony3 жыл бұрын
Yes buddy, most people really confused between trichomyrmex destructor and pharaoh ants including myself 😁
