We have a '14 R-Pod, model 178, purchased from Couch's (an unprompted plug for Couch's - our experience with them was great and we drove to Couch's from Colorado to pick it up). Have enjoyed it and continue to enjoy it. This 195 design is intriguing, offering a bit more room, a larger bathroom and the "walk around" bed, the latter two of which my wife and I would love. The only component I initially find troubling with is what appears to be the permanently mounted solar panel on the roof. Regardless of potential hail damage (Colorado seemingly is a hail magnet at times), often times setting up camp beneath a tree for shade the solar charging efficiency is reduced. Being able to remove the solar panel and placing it in direct sun and at a more functional angle over the course of the day would be more efficient, again presuming the panel is permanently attached to the roof.

This is awesome. I have a 2016 model 179 but really love this. The only thing to make it better would be a couch in lieu of the diskette. Definitely looking forward to seeing one in Florida

In my opinion having owned RV’s for over fifty years dinettes are a waste of space compared to having a comfortable place to sit like a jack knife sofa.
@markholland89535 жыл бұрын
The model 196 is the exact same layout but changes the dinette to a sofa.

I think forest river as a real winner with this one. Thanks for another excellent video.

Why in the world don’t you do a king size bed. Don’t worry about those side cabinets are very confining when you are trying to sleep. Use the residential size mattress so we can use sheets etc from a standard bed. Most of us will change out the mattress anyway. Just because your RV ing doesn’t mean you have to suffer.
@Sparkjumper595 жыл бұрын
Rob Watt they (couch) don’t build or design the campers. They just sell them.

Because some people can't crawl over the bed, they need to be able to walk around....

I don’t understand why RV’s, even the newest models, have the “ugly” fabric for the blinds and seats. I wish they made them more neutral.

I like the walk around bed. Is there storage under the bed? Does it lift up? It’d be nice to have two comfortable chairs with little table since it’s really just for two. Why have big dinnette? I guess it becomes bed for more people. I don’t need that and am looking for something without that.

They need to start adding an extra axle to these. You will not be left with enough ccc on that single axle considering loaded weight. Not to mention if you use a weight distribution hitch setup you will be transferring even more weight to that single axle. Not sure who they think they are fooling but I would buy one of these or the geo pro if it had a double axle on a 22 foot camper. I guess if they put a much beefier single axle then perhaps would be ok but they do not.

I keep waiting for a new trailer in this size range (and not cost an arm and a leg) to offer a for real queen bed for people taller than about 5’10”. That’s why I haven’t bought anything new in over 15 years.

@fnnnknorth5 жыл бұрын
Mike Ramsey 100% agree. Add a little table. It’s Golden.
@Sparkjumper595 жыл бұрын
field north the table can be seen laying on the bed. So it’s kinda a couch and kind of a dinette. I think it works into some kind of crappy bed too. I think there would be better ways than this.

The model 196 is the exact same layout with a sofa replacing the dinette.

At first glance, this is awesome. However, with the larger bathroom and walk around bed there is no storage space. We have a R pod 179 2016 model. It has lots of storage space for such a small camper. Unless you plan living out of your vehicle for clothes, food,etc. this new floor plan won't work for a camping trip more than a couple of days.
